Jedna od omiljenih ljetnih namirnica za veliki broj ljudi svakako je lubenica. Smatrali je voćem ili povrćem, s preko 92% vode, lubenica je ukusan i zdrav izvor hidratacije te osvježenja za vrućih ljetnih dana, a ako ste se do sada fokusirali samo na njen crvenkasti mesnati dio u sredini, nakon što čujete neke činjenice, razmislit ćete i o konzumaciji njene kore.

Baciti ili pojesti koru?

Vjerovali ili ne, kora lubenice je jestiva, i pri tome jako zdrava, upozoravaju dijetetičari. Poznato je da su stari Egipćani redovito konzumirali koru lubenicu, a u vremenima 'zero waste' filozofije i porasta svijesti o održivosti okoliša, čini se nepotrebnim bacati hranu koju možemo i koju bismo, prema mišljenju stručnjaka, trebali uvesti u svoj jelovnik. 

- Sve se više, u posljednje vrijeme, potiče ljude da razmotre opcije konzumiranja listova mrkve i drugog korjenastog povrća te sjemenki, a u posljednje vrijeme i kore lubenice. Pri tome, važno je paziti da jedete namirnice iz organskog uzgoja koje nisu tretirane herbicidima ili pesticidima, pojašnjava dijetetičarka Ella Davar.

Prednosti kore lubenice

Osim slatkog crvenog dijela lubenice, zeleni i bijeli dio kore bogati su magnezijem i kalijem te poželjni za konzumaciju, pod uvjetom da namirnica ispunjava osnovne standarde kvalitete te da nije tretirana kemijskim supstancama. 

Bijeli dio kore dobar je izvor vlakana te pomaže u regulaciji probave. Ovaj dio lubenice sadrži i manju količinu prirodnog šećera pa tako pomaže u usporavanju apsorpcije šećera u crijevima, a kora sadrži i prirodne aminokiseline zvane L-citrulin.

Aminokiseline L-citrulin pomažu u snižavanju krvnog tlaka u odraslih osoba s hipertenzijom te povećaju atletske performanse što je još jedan od razloga zašto više ne biste trebali bacati bijeli dio lubenice.

Zanimljivo je i da bubrezi L-citrulin aminokiseline pretvaraju u L-arginin aminokiselinu, poznatiju kao dušikov oksid, koji pomaže u proširenju vena i arterija, omogućavajući bolji protok krvi prema vašem srcu i mišićima.

Načini upotrebe

Koru lubenice najjednostavnije možete konzumirati u kombinaciji s crvenim središnjim dijelom, no ako vam se njen okus ne sviđa naročito, iskoristite je kao dodatak smoothiejima ili voćnim sokovima. Za pripremu osvježavajućeg napitka od kore lubenice, pomiješajte smiksane komadiće sezonskog voća, limunov sok i kockice leda. Za poseban okus, naribajte malo đumbira i dodajte žlicu meda. 

Koru lubenice također možete narezati i na male komadiće te je uvrstiti u ljetnu povrtno-voćnu salatu, a prilikom grilanja, uz crveni dio, na žaru možete pripremiti i bijeli dio lubenice koji će tako biti nešto ukusniji za konzumaciju.

Jedna od omiljenih ljetnih namirnica za veliki broj ljudi svakako je lubenica. Smatrali je voćem ili povrćem, s preko 92% vode, lubenica je ukusan i zdrav izvor hidratacije te osvježenja za vrućih ljetnih dana, a ako ste se do sada fokusirali samo na njen crvenkasti mesnati dio u sredini, nakon što čujete neke činjenice, razmislit ćete i o konzumaciji njene kore.

Baciti ili pojesti koru?

Vjerovali ili ne, kora lubenice je jestiva, i pri tome jako zdrava, upozoravaju dijetetičari. Poznato je da su stari Egipćani redovito konzumirali koru lubenicu, a u vremenima 'zero waste' filozofije i porasta svijesti o održivosti okoliša, čini se nepotrebnim bacati hranu koju možemo i koju bismo, prema mišljenju stručnjaka, trebali uvesti u svoj jelovnik. 

- Sve se više, u posljednje vrijeme, potiče ljude da razmotre opcije konzumiranja listova mrkve i drugog korjenastog povrća te sjemenki, a u posljednje vrijeme i kore lubenice. Pri tome, važno je paziti da jedete namirnice iz organskog uzgoja koje nisu tretirane herbicidima ili pesticidima, pojašnjava dijetetičarka Ella Davar.

Prednosti kore lubenice

Osim slatkog crvenog dijela lubenice, zeleni i bijeli dio kore bogati su magnezijem i kalijem te poželjni za konzumaciju, pod uvjetom da namirnica ispunjava osnovne standarde kvalitete te da nije tretirana kemijskim supstancama. 

Bijeli dio kore dobar je izvor vlakana te pomaže u regulaciji probave. Ovaj dio lubenice sadrži i manju količinu prirodnog šećera pa tako pomaže u usporavanju apsorpcije šećera u crijevima, a kora sadrži i prirodne aminokiseline zvane L-citrulin.

Aminokiseline L-citrulin pomažu u snižavanju krvnog tlaka u odraslih osoba s hipertenzijom te povećaju atletske performanse što je još jedan od razloga zašto više ne biste trebali bacati bijeli dio lubenice.

Zanimljivo je i da bubrezi L-citrulin aminokiseline pretvaraju u L-arginin aminokiselinu, poznatiju kao dušikov oksid, koji pomaže u proširenju vena i arterija, omogućavajući bolji protok krvi prema vašem srcu i mišićima.

Načini upotrebe

Koru lubenice najjednostavnije možete konzumirati u kombinaciji s crvenim središnjim dijelom, no ako vam se njen okus ne sviđa naročito, iskoristite je kao dodatak smoothiejima ili voćnim sokovima. Za pripremu osvježavajućeg napitka od kore lubenice, pomiješajte smiksane komadiće sezonskog voća, limunov sok i kockice leda. Za poseban okus, naribajte malo đumbira i dodajte žlicu meda. 

Koru lubenice također možete narezati i na male komadiće te je uvrstiti u ljetnu povrtno-voćnu salatu, a prilikom grilanja, uz crveni dio, na žaru možete pripremiti i bijeli dio lubenice koji će tako biti nešto ukusniji za konzumaciju.

Jedna od omiljenih ljetnih namirnica za veliki broj ljudi svakako je lubenica. Smatrali je voćem ili povrćem, s preko 92% vode, lubenica je ukusan i zdrav izvor hidratacije te osvježenja za vrućih ljetnih dana, a ako ste se do sada fokusirali samo na njen crvenkasti mesnati dio u sredini, nakon što čujete neke činjenice, razmislit ćete i o konzumaciji njene kore.

Baciti ili pojesti koru?

Vjerovali ili ne, kora lubenice je jestiva, i pri tome jako zdrava, upozoravaju dijetetičari. Poznato je da su stari Egipćani redovito konzumirali koru lubenicu, a u vremenima 'zero waste' filozofije i porasta svijesti o održivosti okoliša, čini se nepotrebnim bacati hranu koju možemo i koju bismo, prema mišljenju stručnjaka, trebali uvesti u svoj jelovnik.
