Nakon što su dužnosnici u javnom zdravstvu javno izrazili zabrinutost zbog pojave nove južnoafričke varijante SARS-CoV-2 virusa s velikim brojem mutacija, uslijedile su i prve konkretne reakcije. Britanija, koja ima veliko iskustvo s praćenjem 'zabrinjavajućih sojeva“ odmah je postavila zabranu direktnih letova iz šest zemalja. Britanci i drugi putnici koji se vraćaju iz Južne Afrike, Bocvane, Namibije, Zimbabvea i Lesota morat će u 10-dnevnu karantenu prije ulaska u zemlju. Ova zabrana u Britaniji posljedica je zabrinutosti znanstvenika kako B.1.1.529 varijanta zbog velikog broja mutacija može izbjeći postojeća cjepiva te se možda širi brže nego delta varijanta, piše Jutarnji.

Ta nova varijanta trenutačno se širi vrlo brzo u Južnoj Africi u odnosu na ostale sojeve, deltu i betu. Za to je novom soju trebalo samo 25 dana od kada je zabilježeno da je premašio više od 1 posto slučajeva. Za dosizanje tolikog udjela zaraznoj delti trebalo čak 100 dana, a beta nakon prvih 100 dana nije dosegla niti 50 posto udjela u svim slučajevima.

Drugim riječima, trenutačno najviše treba brinuti sposobnost nove varijante da brzo istiskuje ostale sojeve, što se doista doima zastrašujućim.

No, sveukupno epidemiološka situacija u Južnoj Africi i dalje nije naročito zabrinjavajuća, iako jest nepredvidljiva ako se strahovi od nove varijante pokažu opravdanim. Zadnjih tjedana u Africi bilježe povećani broj pozitivnih testova, ali svi epidemiološki podaci još nisu pomno analizirani. U Južnoj Africi još ne postoje dokazi formiranja novog vala pandemije. Teza o tome kako ova nova varijanta može zaobići cjepiva također je još u domeni teorije te do sada nije znanstveno dokazana. Preostaje proučiti i mogući višu/nižu smrtnost nakon infekcije ovom varijantom.

Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija održala je hitni sastanak kako bi raspravili moguće opasnosti nove varijante.

Zamjenik glavnog direktora Europskog laboratorija molekularne biologije Ewan Birney upozorio je kako u Južnu Afriku treba hitno poslati što više lijekova i cjepiva kako bi se lokalno što bolje kontrolirala situacija.

Originalno je nova varijanta koja je već zabrinula cijeli planet otkrivena u Bocvani. Od početka pandemije prebrojano je oko 1500 novih sojeva, a samo su rijetki pokazali višu prenosivost i smrtnost. Mnogo toga u pandemiji i dalje se ne razumije. Primjerice, znanstvena zajednica sada se pita hoće li nova varijanta globalno suzbiti deltu, ali još nema jasnih objašnjenja zašto je delta poharala niz zapadnih zemalja, ali se u Indiji, otkuda je delta krenula, delta val brzo smirio.

Virus se neprestano mijenja. Svaka replikacija donosi nove greške na nizu 30.000 nukleotida. Većina mutacija iščezava, ali mogu se filtrirati neke koje lakše probijaju ljudsku imunološku obranu, razvijaju veći viralni teret, uzrokuju viši broj smrti…

Nakon što su dužnosnici u javnom zdravstvu javno izrazili zabrinutost zbog pojave nove južnoafričke varijante SARS-CoV-2 virusa s velikim brojem mutacija, uslijedile su i prve konkretne reakcije. Britanija, koja ima veliko iskustvo s praćenjem 'zabrinjavajućih sojeva“ odmah je postavila zabranu direktnih letova iz šest zemalja. Britanci i drugi putnici koji se vraćaju iz Južne Afrike, Bocvane, Namibije, Zimbabvea i Lesota morat će u 10-dnevnu karantenu prije ulaska u zemlju. Ova zabrana u Britaniji posljedica je zabrinutosti znanstvenika kako B.1.1.529 varijanta zbog velikog broja mutacija može izbjeći postojeća cjepiva te se možda širi brže nego delta varijanta, piše Jutarnji.

Ta nova varijanta trenutačno se širi vrlo brzo u Južnoj Africi u odnosu na ostale sojeve, deltu i betu. Izrael, zemlja koja je poznata po brzim epidemiološkim reakcijama, također je zabranila dolaske iz Južne Afrike. No, čini se da se nova varijanta već probila daleko od afričkih prostora. Hong Kong je zabilježio dva slučaja. Japanci su priopćili kako provode hitnu istragu iako pojava B.1.1.529 još nije zabilježena.

Ključni razlog brige znanstvenika jest činjenica da je u Južnoj Africi među dijagnosticiranim infekcijama udio B.1.1.529 sada već blizu 90 posto. Za to je novom soju trebalo samo 25 dana od kada je zabilježeno da je premašio više od 1 posto slučajeva. Za dosizanje tolikog udjela zaraznoj delti trebalo čak 100 dana, a beta nakon prvih 100 dana nije dosegla niti 50 posto udjela u svim slučajevima.

Drugim riječima, trenutačno najviše treba brinuti sposobnost nove varijante da brzo istiskuje ostale sojeve, što se doista doima zastrašujućim.

No, sveukupno epidemiološka situacija u Južnoj Africi i dalje nije naročito zabrinjavajuća, iako jest nepredvidljiva ako se strahovi od nove varijante pokažu opravdanim. Zadnjih tjedana u Africi bilježe povećani broj pozitivnih testova, ali svi epidemiološki podaci još nisu pomno analizirani. U Južnoj Africi još ne postoje dokazi formiranja novog vala pandemije. Teza o tome kako ova nova varijanta može zaobići cjepiva također je još u domeni teorije te do sada nije znanstveno dokazana. Preostaje proučiti i mogući višu/nižu smrtnost nakon infekcije ovom varijantom.

Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija održala je hitni sastanak kako bi raspravili moguće opasnosti nove varijante.

Zamjenik glavnog direktora Europskog laboratorija molekularne biologije Ewan Birney upozorio je kako u Južnu Afriku treba hitno poslati što više lijekova i cjepiva kako bi se lokalno što bolje kontrolirala situacija.

Originalno je nova varijanta koja je već zabrinula cijeli planet otkrivena u Bocvani. Od početka pandemije prebrojano je oko 1500 novih sojeva, a samo su rijetki pokazali višu prenosivost i smrtnost. Mnogo toga u pandemiji i dalje se ne razumije. Primjerice, znanstvena zajednica sada se pita hoće li nova varijanta globalno suzbiti deltu, ali još nema jasnih objašnjenja zašto je delta poharala niz zapadnih zemalja, ali se u Indiji, otkuda je delta krenula, delta val brzo smirio.

Virus se neprestano mijenja. Svaka replikacija donosi nove greške na nizu 30.000 nukleotida. Većina mutacija iščezava, ali mogu se filtrirati neke koje lakše probijaju ljudsku imunološku obranu, razvijaju veći viralni teret, uzrokuju viši broj smrti…
