Izborne debate u predsjedničkoj kampanji format su dugačke demokratske tradicije za kojim interes odavno nadilazi granice SAD-a.

Svoju su modernu, televizijsku, formu dobile još davne 1960. godine, antologijskom raspravom između Johna Kennedyja i Richarda Nixona. Znale su se i dosad ponekad pretvoriti u sirovu razmjenu optužbi gdje bi u drugi plan pali programi kandidata, no nikad se to nije dogodilo u mjeri koju je kao presedan uspostavio Donald Trump. Zbog incidentne noći s utorka na srijedu u Clevelendu - koju je CNN bez krzmanja nazvao „shitshow“ - državno povjerenstvo za organizaciju predsjedničkih debata objavilo je da će hitno promijeniti pravila i format rasprave. Kako bi se izbjeglo ponavljanje kaotičnog prvog sraza republikanca Donalda Trumpa i demokrata Josepha Joea Bidena, razmatra se mogućnost uvođenja novih ovlasti moderatoru sučeljavanja kako bi mogao isključiti mikrofon sudioniku koji uskače u riječ svome protivniku, javlja Associated Press.

Sjedinjene Američke Države proživljavaju jednu od najtežih kriza u novijoj povijesti: zemlja je ugrožena smrtonosnom pandemijom, sve češćim prirodnim katastrofama zbog klimatskih promjena i sve većim jazom i tenzijama između crnih i bijelih Amerikanaca. Nasuprot tome, prva predsjednička javna rasprava protekla je u atmosferi osobnih uvreda, laži, etiketiranja i agresije aktualnoga predsjednika koji rivalu nije dozvolio dovršiti gotovo nijednu rečenicu. Amerikanci tijekom čitave večeri nisu uspjeli čuti niti jedan jedini plan za poboljšanje svoje društvene situacije. Do izbora 3. studenoga zakazane su još dvije predsjedničke debate, 15. listopada u Miamiju i 22. istog mjeseca u Nashvillu.

Premda je bila posve needukativna i gotovo negledljiva, prva predsjednička rasprava pokazala se, međutim, kao izuzetno mobilizirajući faktor za kampanju Joea Bidena: netom nakon nje izborni stožer demokrata oborio je sve rekorde u prikupljanju donacija, inkasiravši u samo sat vremena gotovo četiri milijuna dolara. Analitičari procjenjuju kako je tome jako pridonio Trumpov nasilnički verbalni stil, ali i njegovo otvoreno svrstavanje uz krajnje desničarske i rasističke skupine bijelih supremacista poput „Proud Boysa“. Sam Biden je Trumpovo odbijanje osuda takvih nasilničkih grupa koje njeguju sramotnu baštinu Ku Klux Klana nazvao "pozivom na uzbunu za sve Amerikance". Demokratska strateška stručnjakinja Jennifer Holdsworth je izjavila kako je Donald Trump naprosto demonstrirao da je odvratno ljudsko biće, što nema puno veze s bilo kojom politikom. Bilo je to, istaknula je, pokazivanje neljudskog i neameričkog ponašanja pred očima cijeloga svijeta.

Dan nakon gašenja kamera mnogi su i u republikanskim redovima prilično ogorčeni zbog Trumpove destruktivne izvedbe i njegovih sve ugroženijih izgleda za pobjedu. Republikanski strateg Scott Jennings znakovito je izjavio kako je zadnjih godina Trump imao snažnu podršku američkih žena svojoj politici, a da nakon prvog tv sučeljavanja nije čuo niti jednu jedinu kako joj se sviđa njegov način komunikacije. Veteran republikanskog stožera Karl Rove također je kazao kako nije uvjeren da je njegov nastup na gledatelje djelovao poučno ili prosvjetljujuće.

Bidenova kampanja je netom nakon prvog duela bila zasuta pitanjima hoće li sudjelovati u još dva kruga sučeljavanja, ali i brojnim apelima simpatizera da ne ide na novi destruktivni i ponižavajući verbalni megdan Trumpu. Usprkos svemu, njegovi savjetnici objavili su kako će „Pospani Joe“ svakako sudjelovati i u sljedećim raspravama.  Iz tv-kaosa u Clevelendu, koji je na ekranima pratilo gotovo 28 milijuna Amerikanaca manje nego debatu Trump-Hillary Clinton iz 2016. godine, ipak se iskristalizirao jasan optimizam za stožer jednog, te depresija i zabrinutost u suradničkim redovima drugog kandidata. Razaraču se razaranje vratilo u lice.

Izborne debate u predsjedničkoj kampanji format su dugačke demokratske tradicije za kojim interes odavno nadilazi granice SAD-a.

Svoju su modernu, televizijsku, formu dobile još davne 1960. godine, antologijskom raspravom između Johna Kennedyja i Richarda Nixona. Znale su se i dosad ponekad pretvoriti u sirovu razmjenu optužbi gdje bi u drugi plan pali programi kandidata, no nikad se to nije dogodilo u mjeri koju je kao presedan uspostavio Donald Trump. Zbog incidentne noći s utorka na srijedu u Clevelendu - koju je CNN bez krzmanja nazvao „shitshow“ - državno povjerenstvo za organizaciju predsjedničkih debata objavilo je da će hitno promijeniti pravila i format rasprave. Kako bi se izbjeglo ponavljanje kaotičnog prvog sraza republikanca Donalda Trumpa i demokrata Josepha Joea Bidena, razmatra se mogućnost uvođenja novih ovlasti moderatoru sučeljavanja kako bi mogao isključiti mikrofon sudioniku koji uskače u riječ svome protivniku, javlja Associated Press.

Sjedinjene Američke Države proživljavaju jednu od najtežih kriza u novijoj povijesti: zemlja je ugrožena smrtonosnom pandemijom, sve češćim prirodnim katastrofama zbog klimatskih promjena i sve većim jazom i tenzijama između crnih i bijelih Amerikanaca. Nasuprot tome, prva predsjednička javna rasprava protekla je u atmosferi osobnih uvreda, laži, etiketiranja i agresije aktualnoga predsjednika koji rivalu nije dozvolio dovršiti gotovo nijednu rečenicu. Amerikanci tijekom čitave večeri nisu uspjeli čuti niti jedan jedini plan za poboljšanje svoje društvene situacije. Do izbora 3. studenoga zakazane su još dvije predsjedničke debate, 15. listopada u Miamiju i 22. istog mjeseca u Nashvillu.

Premda je bila posve needukativna i gotovo negledljiva, prva predsjednička rasprava pokazala se, međutim, kao izuzetno mobilizirajući faktor za kampanju Joea Bidena: netom nakon nje izborni stožer demokrata oborio je sve rekorde u prikupljanju donacija, inkasiravši u samo sat vremena gotovo četiri milijuna dolara. Analitičari procjenjuju kako je tome jako pridonio Trumpov nasilnički verbalni stil, ali i njegovo otvoreno svrstavanje uz krajnje desničarske i rasističke skupine bijelih supremacista poput „Proud Boysa“. Sam Biden je Trumpovo odbijanje osuda takvih nasilničkih grupa koje njeguju sramotnu baštinu Ku Klux Klana nazvao "pozivom na uzbunu za sve Amerikance". Demokratska strateška stručnjakinja Jennifer Holdsworth je izjavila kako je Donald Trump naprosto demonstrirao da je odvratno ljudsko biće, što nema puno veze s bilo kojom politikom. Bilo je to, istaknula je, pokazivanje neljudskog i neameričkog ponašanja pred očima cijeloga svijeta.

Dan nakon gašenja kamera mnogi su i u republikanskim redovima prilično ogorčeni zbog Trumpove destruktivne izvedbe i njegovih sve ugroženijih izgleda za pobjedu. Republikanski strateg Scott Jennings znakovito je izjavio kako je zadnjih godina Trump imao snažnu podršku američkih žena svojoj politici, a da nakon prvog tv sučeljavanja nije čuo niti jednu jedinu kako joj se sviđa njegov način komunikacije. Veteran republikanskog stožera Karl Rove također je kazao kako nije uvjeren da je njegov nastup na gledatelje djelovao poučno ili prosvjetljujuće.

Bidenova kampanja je netom nakon prvog duela bila zasuta pitanjima hoće li sudjelovati u još dva kruga sučeljavanja, ali i brojnim apelima simpatizera da ne ide na novi destruktivni i ponižavajući verbalni megdan Trumpu. Usprkos svemu, njegovi savjetnici objavili su kako će „Pospani Joe“ svakako sudjelovati i u sljedećim raspravama.  Iz tv-kaosa u Clevelendu, koji je na ekranima pratilo gotovo 28 milijuna Amerikanaca manje nego debatu Trump-Hillary Clinton iz 2016. godine, ipak se iskristalizirao jasan optimizam za stožer jednog, te depresija i zabrinutost u suradničkim redovima drugog kandidata. Razaraču se razaranje vratilo u lice.

Izborne debate u predsjedničkoj kampanji format su dugačke demokratske tradicije za kojim interes odavno nadilazi granice SAD-a.

Svoju su modernu, televizijsku, formu dobile još davne 1960. godine, antologijskom raspravom između Johna Kennedyja i Richarda Nixona. Znale su se i dosad ponekad pretvoriti u sirovu razmjenu optužbi gdje bi u drugi plan pali programi kandidata, no nikad se to nije dogodilo u mjeri koju je kao presedan uspostavio Donald Trump. Zbog incidentne noći s utorka na srijedu u Clevelendu - koju je CNN bez krzmanja nazvao „shitshow“ - državno povjerenstvo za organizaciju predsjedničkih debata objavilo je da će hitno promijeniti pravila i format rasprave. Kako bi se izbjeglo ponavljanje kaotičnog prvog sraza republikanca Donalda Trumpa i demokrata Josepha...
