Američki Senat u četvrtak je jednoglasno potvrdio bivšeg diplomata Williama Burnsa za šefa CIA-e.

Kandidat predsjednika Joea Bidena, Burns (64), koji je služio i u demokratskoj i u republikanskoj administraciji, prvi je karijerni diplomat koji će voditi CIA-u.

U Senatu su prethodnih godina potvrđene njegove kandidature sa ambasadora u Jordanu i Rusiji i za tri visoka položaja u State Departmentu.

Tijekom saslušanja pred Odbororm za obavještajna pitanja američkog Senata prošli mjesec, Burns je iznio svoja četiri glavna prioriteta - ljude, partnerstva, Kinu i tehnologiju.

Burns je Kinu nazvao "velikim, autoritarnim suparnikom" koji jača kapacitete za krađu intelektualnog vlasništva, represiju nad svojim građanima i širenje utjecaja unutar SAD-a.

Natjecanje s Kinom je jedan od glavnih prioriteta Bidenove administracije i članova Kongresa, koji žele da se zauzme oštriji stav prema Pekingu.

Odbor je također jednoglasno podržao Burnsovu nominaciju.

Senat je također potvrdio jednog od Bidenovih dugogodišnjih savjetnika za vanjsku politiku Briana McKeona za zamjenika državnog tajnika za upravljanje i resurse.

Američki Senat u četvrtak je jednoglasno potvrdio bivšeg diplomata Williama Burnsa za šefa CIA-e.

Kandidat predsjednika Joea Bidena, Burns (64), koji je služio i u demokratskoj i u republikanskoj administraciji, prvi je karijerni diplomat koji će voditi CIA-u.

U Senatu su prethodnih godina potvrđene njegove kandidature sa ambasadora u Jordanu i Rusiji i za tri visoka položaja u State Departmentu.

Tijekom saslušanja pred Odbororm za obavještajna pitanja američkog Senata prošli mjesec, Burns je iznio svoja četiri glavna prioriteta - ljude, partnerstva, Kinu i tehnologiju.

Burns je Kinu nazvao "velikim, autoritarnim suparnikom" koji jača kapacitete za krađu intelektualnog vlasništva, represiju nad svojim građanima i širenje utjecaja unutar SAD-a.

Natjecanje s Kinom je jedan od glavnih prioriteta Bidenove administracije i članova Kongresa, koji žele da se zauzme oštriji stav prema Pekingu.

Odbor je također jednoglasno podržao Burnsovu nominaciju.

Senat je također potvrdio jednog od Bidenovih dugogodišnjih savjetnika za vanjsku politiku Briana McKeona za zamjenika državnog tajnika za upravljanje i resurse.

William Burns potvrđen kao novi šef CIA-e, u karijeri je služio u administraciji republikanaca i demokrata

Američki Senat u četvrtak je jednoglasno potvrdio bivšeg diplomata Williama Burnsa za šefa CIA-e.

Kandidat predsjednika Joea Bidena, Burns (64), koji je služio i u demokratskoj i u republikanskoj administraciji, prvi je karijerni diplomat koji će voditi CIA-u.

U Senatu su prethodnih godina potvrđene njegove kandidature sa ambasadora u Jordanu i Rusiji i za tri visoka položaja u State Departmentu.

Tijekom saslušanja pred Odbororm za obavještajna pitanja američkog Senata prošli mjesec, Burns je iznio svoja četiri glavna prioriteta - ljude, partnerstva, Kinu i tehnologiju.

Burns je Kinu nazvao "velikim, autoritarnim suparnikom" koji jača kapacitete za krađu intelektualnog vlasništva, represiju nad svojim građanima i širenje utjecaja unutar SAD-a.
