Europska unija donijela je prije par dana opsežnu, ali neobvezujuću, rezoluciju kojom se osuđuje rat Rusije u Ukrajini, ali i koja poziva zemlje članice EU-a da odmah počnu prebacivati borbene tenkove tipa Leopard ukrajinskoj vojsci i obučavati trupe za njihovu upotrebu.

Europski parlament donio je 5. listopada “Zajednički prijedlog rezolucije o eskalaciji ruskog agresivnog rata protiv Ukrajine.” Dokument proziva Rusiju za prijestup protiv međunarodnog prava i poziva europske nacije da masovno povećaju svoju vojnu pomoć kako bi se Ukrajini omogućilo da povrati punu kontrolu nad cijelim međunarodno priznatim teritorijem. Taksativno se nabrajaju i potrebni ‘alati‘ za ostvarenje takvog plana, pa se navodi da ukrajinska vojska treba moderne borbene tenkove, više sustava zemlja-zrak i zemlja-zemlja, oklopne transportere kao i dodatne centre za obuku i donacije u streljivu.

No, najznakovitije je da se u tekstu posebno spominju tenkovi Leopard, glavni borbeni tenkovi treće generacije razvijeni 1970-ih za Bundeswehr, zapadnonjemačku vojsku, piše ugledni vojni portal The War Zone. U tekstu se navodi ‘potreba europske koordinacije u isporuci oružja i naprednih sustava naoružanja kao što su tenkovi Leopard‘, te se pozivaju države članice da odmah počnu obučavati ukrajinske vojnike u tom pogledu.

Dođe li doista do isporuke modernih Leoparda Ukrajini, to bi značilo veliki preokret u njemačko-ukrajinskim odnosima koji su još od travnja opterećeni prozivkama Kijeva da Berlin bezdušno ignorira apele za isporukom tenkova. Nijemci su Ukrajincima donirali haubice i razno drugo naoružanje, no oko tenkova su bili radikalno škrti, najvjerojatnije u strahu da napredna tehnologija ne padne u ruske ruke. No, nakon što su u srpnju popustili i isporučili Kijevu svoje protuzračne oklopnjake tipa Gepard, nije nerealno uskoro očekivati ni Leoparde u ukrajinskoj stepi, pogotovo nakon zadnjih ofenzivnih uspjeha Ukrajinaca.

Još uvijek, doduše, nije jasno govori li se u europskoj rezoluciji o potencijalnim transferima starijih tipova tenkova, Leoparda 1, s topom od 105 mm iz 1960-ih koji su uglavnom uklonjeni iz vojne službe u Europi, ili novijih Leoparda 2 koje Ukrajina doista priželjkuje i koji imaju glavne topove od 120 mm. Leopardi 2 su trenutno u vojnoj službi čak 14 europskih nacija i Kanade, no zadnjih mjeseci se u europskim političkim krugovima raspravljalo i o obnovi starijih Leoparda 1, koji su sada konzervirani u skladištima, i o njihovom eventualnom slanju u Ukrajinu.

Tenkovi, pogotovo najmoderniji, bili bi velika blagodat za ukrajinsku vojsku dok napreduje kroz ruske linije u svojoj tekućoj višestrukoj ofenzivi. Trenutačno čak polovicu ukrajinskih tenkova čine vozila zarobljena u borbi ili nakon povlačenja ruskih trupa. Najnovije obavještajne procjene Ministarstva obrane Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva otkrivaju da je Ukrajina zarobila najmanje 440 ruskih glavnih borbenih tenkova i oko 650 drugih oklopnih vozila od početka invazije. To je impresivna zapljena neprijateljskog oružja, no mnoga su od tih vozila modeli iz sovjetske ere ili njihove nadogradnje. Ti tenkovi ni izbliza ne mogu parirati  moderno dizajniranim oklopima treće generacije poput Leoparda, američkog Abramsa i britanskog Challengera II. Stariji sovjetski tenkovi poput T-62 imaju zastarjeli oklop, skladišta streljiva i druge točke ranjivosti koje ih čine lakim plijenom za moderne protutenkovske navođene rakete. Po tom pitanju nešto bolje stoji T-80 sovjetskog dizajna, koji također spada u tenkove treće generacije, kao i još napredniji T-90 kojega je nedavno uspjela zarobiti ukrajinska vojska.

Gustav Gressel, viši politički suradnik u think tanku European Council on Foreign Relations, kaže za The War Zone da bi najmanje 268 tenkova Leopard moglo ubrzo biti prebačeno u službu Ukrajine. Čini se da će višemjesečne molbe za modernim tenkovima vlade u Kijevu doista biti uslišene. Europske države, u prvome redu Poljska, dosad su donirale ukrajinskoj vojsci samo skromne flote tenkova druge generacije, T-72. SAD im je također više puta obećavao svoje moderne tenkove tipa Abrams, ali dosad nije ništa učinjeno po tom pitanju; sve vojske ljubomorno čuvaju svoju najnoviju tehnologiju.

Europska unija donijela je prije par dana opsežnu, ali neobvezujuću, rezoluciju kojom se osuđuje rat Rusije u Ukrajini, ali i koja poziva zemlje članice EU-a da odmah počnu prebacivati borbene tenkove tipa Leopard ukrajinskoj vojsci i obučavati trupe za njihovu upotrebu.

Europski parlament donio je 5. listopada “Zajednički prijedlog rezolucije o eskalaciji ruskog agresivnog rata protiv Ukrajine.” Dokument proziva Rusiju za prijestup protiv međunarodnog prava i poziva europske nacije da masovno povećaju svoju vojnu pomoć kako bi se Ukrajini omogućilo da povrati punu kontrolu nad cijelim međunarodno priznatim teritorijem. Taksativno se nabrajaju i potrebni ‘alati‘ za ostvarenje takvog plana, pa se navodi da ukrajinska vojska treba moderne borbene tenkove, više sustava zemlja-zrak i zemlja-zemlja, oklopne transportere kao i dodatne centre za obuku i donacije u streljivu.

No, najznakovitije je da se u tekstu posebno spominju tenkovi Leopard, glavni borbeni tenkovi treće generacije razvijeni 1970-ih za Bundeswehr, zapadnonjemačku vojsku, piše ugledni vojni portal The War Zone. U tekstu se navodi ‘potreba europske koordinacije u isporuci oružja i naprednih sustava naoružanja kao što su tenkovi Leopard‘, te se pozivaju države članice da odmah počnu obučavati ukrajinske vojnike u tom pogledu.

Dođe li doista do isporuke modernih Leoparda Ukrajini, to bi značilo veliki preokret u njemačko-ukrajinskim odnosima koji su još od travnja opterećeni prozivkama Kijeva da Berlin bezdušno ignorira apele za isporukom tenkova. Nijemci su Ukrajincima donirali haubice i razno drugo naoružanje, no oko tenkova su bili radikalno škrti, najvjerojatnije u strahu da napredna tehnologija ne padne u ruske ruke. No, nakon što su u srpnju popustili i isporučili Kijevu svoje protuzračne oklopnjake tipa Gepard, nije nerealno uskoro očekivati ni Leoparde u ukrajinskoj stepi, pogotovo nakon zadnjih ofenzivnih uspjeha Ukrajinaca.

Još uvijek, doduše, nije jasno govori li se u europskoj rezoluciji o potencijalnim transferima starijih tipova tenkova, Leoparda 1, s topom od 105 mm iz 1960-ih koji su uglavnom uklonjeni iz vojne službe u Europi, ili novijih Leoparda 2 koje Ukrajina doista priželjkuje i koji imaju glavne topove od 120 mm. Leopardi 2 su trenutno u vojnoj službi čak 14 europskih nacija i Kanade, no zadnjih mjeseci se u europskim političkim krugovima raspravljalo i o obnovi starijih Leoparda 1, koji su sada konzervirani u skladištima, i o njihovom eventualnom slanju u Ukrajinu.

Tenkovi, pogotovo najmoderniji, bili bi velika blagodat za ukrajinsku vojsku dok napreduje kroz ruske linije u svojoj tekućoj višestrukoj ofenzivi. Trenutačno čak polovicu ukrajinskih tenkova čine vozila zarobljena u borbi ili nakon povlačenja ruskih trupa. Najnovije obavještajne procjene Ministarstva obrane Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva otkrivaju da je Ukrajina zarobila najmanje 440 ruskih glavnih borbenih tenkova i oko 650 drugih oklopnih vozila od početka invazije. To je impresivna zapljena neprijateljskog oružja, no mnoga su od tih vozila modeli iz sovjetske ere ili njihove nadogradnje. Ti tenkovi ni izbliza ne mogu parirati  moderno dizajniranim oklopima treće generacije poput Leoparda, američkog Abramsa i britanskog Challengera II. Stariji sovjetski tenkovi poput T-62 imaju zastarjeli oklop, skladišta streljiva i druge točke ranjivosti koje ih čine lakim plijenom za moderne protutenkovske navođene rakete. Po tom pitanju nešto bolje stoji T-80 sovjetskog dizajna, koji također spada u tenkove treće generacije, kao i još napredniji T-90 kojega je nedavno uspjela zarobiti ukrajinska vojska.

Gustav Gressel, viši politički suradnik u think tanku European Council on Foreign Relations, kaže za The War Zone da bi najmanje 268 tenkova Leopard moglo ubrzo biti prebačeno u službu Ukrajine. Čini se da će višemjesečne molbe za modernim tenkovima vlade u Kijevu doista biti uslišene. Europske države, u prvome redu Poljska, dosad su donirale ukrajinskoj vojsci samo skromne flote tenkova druge generacije, T-72. SAD im je također više puta obećavao svoje moderne tenkove tipa Abrams, ali dosad nije ništa učinjeno po tom pitanju; sve vojske ljubomorno čuvaju svoju najnoviju tehnologiju.
