Iako su prvi oboljeli od Covida-19 u Švicarskoj zabilježeni kad i u Hrvatskoj, u toj se zemlji bolest širila neusporedivo brže: Švicarska je sada među deset najpogođenijih zemalja na svijetu (odmah iza Italije po broju zaraženih na milijun stanovnika), Hrvatska je pri dnu ljestvice. Do jučer je u Švicarskoj zabilježeno 3219 slučajeva, od kojih 35 sa smrtnim ishodom, izvještava Jutarnji list.
- Ovdje je situacija sve teža, a najgore tek dolazi. S obzirom na eksponencijalni rast broja zaraženih osoba, lako je izračunati da je sadašnja situacija barem tjedan dana iza aktualnog broja oboljelih zbog inkubacijskog perioda bolesti. Dakle, ako je sada dijagnosticirano oko 3000 slučajeva, za tjedan dana Švicarska će imati 12.000 oboljelih, čak i da se nitko nov ne inficira. Ako se ništa ne poduzme, brojevi će se povećavati eksponencijalno, što će uzrokovati velike probleme sa zdravstvenim sustavom - rekao nam je Nenad Ban, profesor na Švicarskom federalnom tehnološkom institutu (ETH) i jedan od najuglednijih hrvatskih znanstvenika u svijetu.
Linearni odnos
- Ljudski um je naviknut na linearne odnose, pa nam je teško nositi se s konceptom eksponencijalnog rasta - stvari se događaju nevjerojatno brzo. Na primjer, počevši od 2000 slučajeva, ako se transmisija ne uspori dodatnim mjerama, za dva tjedna bilo bi više od 250.000 slučajeva. Dakle, brze i odlučne odluke su važne, tako da mislim da su odluke da se zabrane skupovi - i sve druge mjere u Hrvatskoj koje su donijeli ministar zdravstva Vili Beroš i Nacionalni stožer civilne zaštite - kao i da se smanji stupanj transmisije, ispravne - dodao je Ban. Naš sugovornik pojasnio je zašto je došlo do širenja koronavirusa u Europi.
- Virus SARS-CoV-2 se ušuljao u Europu zbog dva razloga. Naime, unatoč tome što je epidemija bila u punom jeku u Kini, nije bilo moguće uvesti stroge mjere zatvaranja granica jer su se svi bojali ekonomskih posljedica. Naime, Italija ima industriju mode u kojoj rade mnogi radnici iz Kine, tako da je put virusu bio otvoren zbog velikog volumena putovanja. Jednom kad je situacija bila ozbiljnija, direktni letovi su bili zabranjeni, ali su radnici putovali kroz druge zemlje i još nisu morali ostati u samoizolaciji kada bi se vratili s putovanja. Situacija je slična i ovdje, jer u Švicarskoj radi jako puno ljudi koji žive u pograničnim područjima. Na primjer, u mnogim bolnicama uz granicu osoblje živi u Italiji i svaki dan dolazi u Švicarsku.
Ispod radara
Kada je postalo očito da se broj oboljelih povećava u Italiji, Švicarska se našla u dilemi: zatvoriti granice i time onemogućiti poslovanje mnogih svojih kompanija i, primjerice, bolnica ili ostaviti granice otvorene? Drugi razlog širenja ‘ispod radara’ je što je raspon simptoma Covida-19 jako velik. Neki ljudi imaju jako blage simptome, pa niti ne posumnjaju da nose virus, dok drugi moraju biti u bolnici na intenzivnoj njezi. Zbog toga je jako teško kontrolirati širenje sve dok se ne pojave bolesnici s jačim simptomima. No, u tom se trenutku bolest već raširila - ispričao je Ban. No, oklijevanje Švicarske da odmah suzbije širenje Covida rezultiralo je širenjem bolesti.
- Kada se radi o epidemiji ili, još gore, pandemiji, najgori je postupak ne reagirati jer se ljudi boje krive odluke. Dakle, proces po kojem je Švicarska poznata - da se pažljivo ocjenjuju sve odluke - ovdje se pokazao prespor. Osim toga, Švicarska je zemlja koja je u sredini Europe, s velikim prometom ljudi, i turistički i poslovno, pa nije neobično da joj je jako teško kontrolirati situaciju. No, sada je važno pridržavati se uputa koje stanovništvo dobiva jer se time štite ugrožene skupine, ali i cijela populacija - naglasio je Nenad Ban.

Iako su prvi oboljeli od Covida-19 u Švicarskoj zabilježeni kad i u Hrvatskoj, u toj se zemlji bolest širila neusporedivo brže: Švicarska je sada među deset najpogođenijih zemalja na svijetu (odmah iza Italije po broju zaraženih na milijun stanovnika), Hrvatska je pri dnu ljestvice. Do jučer je u Švicarskoj zabilježeno 3219 slučajeva, od kojih 35 sa smrtnim ishodom, izvještava Jutarnji list.
- Ovdje je situacija sve teža, a najgore tek dolazi. S obzirom na eksponencijalni rast broja zaraženih osoba, lako je izračunati da je sadašnja situacija barem tjedan dana iza aktualnog broja oboljelih zbog inkubacijskog perioda bolesti. Dakle, ako je sada dijagnosticirano oko 3000 slučajeva, za tjedan dana Švicarska će imati 12.000 oboljelih, čak i da se nitko nov ne inficira. Ako se ništa ne poduzme, brojevi će se povećavati eksponencijalno, što će uzrokovati velike probleme sa zdravstvenim sustavom - rekao nam je Nenad Ban, profesor na Švicarskom federalnom tehnološkom institutu (ETH) i jedan od najuglednijih hrvatskih znanstvenika u svijetu.
Linearni odnos
- Ljudski um je naviknut na linearne odnose, pa nam je teško nositi se s konceptom eksponencijalnog rasta - stvari se događaju nevjerojatno brzo. Na primjer, počevši od 2000 slučajeva, ako se transmisija ne uspori dodatnim mjerama, za dva tjedna bilo bi više od 250.000 slučajeva. Dakle, brze i odlučne odluke su važne, tako da mislim da su odluke da se zabrane skupovi - i sve druge mjere u Hrvatskoj koje su donijeli ministar zdravstva Vili Beroš i Nacionalni stožer civilne zaštite - kao i da se smanji stupanj transmisije, ispravne - dodao je Ban. Naš sugovornik pojasnio je zašto je došlo do širenja koronavirusa u Europi.
- Virus SARS-CoV-2 se ušuljao u Europu zbog dva razloga. Naime, unatoč tome što je epidemija bila u punom jeku u Kini, nije bilo moguće uvesti stroge mjere zatvaranja granica jer su se svi bojali ekonomskih posljedica. Naime, Italija ima industriju mode u kojoj rade mnogi radnici iz Kine, tako da je put virusu bio otvoren zbog velikog volumena putovanja. Jednom kad je situacija bila ozbiljnija, direktni letovi su bili zabranjeni, ali su radnici putovali kroz druge zemlje i još nisu morali ostati u samoizolaciji kada bi se vratili s putovanja. Situacija je slična i ovdje, jer u Švicarskoj radi jako puno ljudi koji žive u pograničnim područjima. Na primjer, u mnogim bolnicama uz granicu osoblje živi u Italiji i svaki dan dolazi u Švicarsku.
Ispod radara
Kada je postalo očito da se broj oboljelih povećava u Italiji, Švicarska se našla u dilemi: zatvoriti granice i time onemogućiti poslovanje mnogih svojih kompanija i, primjerice, bolnica ili ostaviti granice otvorene? Drugi razlog širenja ‘ispod radara’ je što je raspon simptoma Covida-19 jako velik. Neki ljudi imaju jako blage simptome, pa niti ne posumnjaju da nose virus, dok drugi moraju biti u bolnici na intenzivnoj njezi. Zbog toga je jako teško kontrolirati širenje sve dok se ne pojave bolesnici s jačim simptomima. No, u tom se trenutku bolest već raširila - ispričao je Ban. No, oklijevanje Švicarske da odmah suzbije širenje Covida rezultiralo je širenjem bolesti.
- Kada se radi o epidemiji ili, još gore, pandemiji, najgori je postupak ne reagirati jer se ljudi boje krive odluke. Dakle, proces po kojem je Švicarska poznata - da se pažljivo ocjenjuju sve odluke - ovdje se pokazao prespor. Osim toga, Švicarska je zemlja koja je u sredini Europe, s velikim prometom ljudi, i turistički i poslovno, pa nije neobično da joj je jako teško kontrolirati situaciju. No, sada je važno pridržavati se uputa koje stanovništvo dobiva jer se time štite ugrožene skupine, ali i cijela populacija - naglasio je Nenad Ban.
