Godišnja Parada pobjede održava se u Moskvi 9. svibnja, na koji se u Rusiji slavi u poraz fašizma u Drugom svjetskom ratu. Rusija je sinoć priopćila da drži 2000 zarobljenika, uključujući i strane dragovoljce i plaćenike. Američki i drugi zapadni dužnosnici vjeruju da bi ruski čelnik mogao napokon službeno objaviti rat Ukrajini upravo 9. svibnja, što bi omogućilo potpunu mobilizaciju ruskih pričuvnih snaga. Ben Wallace, britanski ministar obrane, rekao je prošlog tjedna za LBC radio da bi Putin mogao iskoristiti taj datum da proglasi: "Sada smo u ratu sa svjetskim nacistima i moramo masovno mobilizirati ruski narod."

Vjeruje se da će Putin imati potrebu objaviti neku vrstu vojnog uspjeha u Ukrajini do tog datuma i kako postoji "mogućnost da vidimo veći poziv na oružje".
