Otkriće T stanica moglo bi dovesti do razvoja cjepiva koje cilja na sve varijante COVID-a, pokazala je nova studija, prenosi Sky.

U članku objavljenom u časopisu Nature u srijedu, istraživači su rekli da bi sljedeća generacija cjepiva protiv COVID-a trebala imati za cilj da tijelo odgovori na specifične proteine koji su specifični za najranije faze virusa.

Osmišljavanjem uboda koji aktiviraju stanice imunološkog pamćenja - poznate kao T stanice - za napad na zaražene stanice, možda je moguće eliminirati COVID na početku i pomoći u zaustavljanju njegovog širenja, sugerira studija.

To bi moglo nadopuniti cjepiva protiv COVID-19 koja su trenutno licencirana u Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu, a koja samo pokreću imunološki odgovor na šiljasti protein koji strši izvan virusa.

Istraživači su rekli da bi otkriće moglo dovesti do stvaranja cjepiva za sve koronaviruse, koje ne bi štitilo samo od COVID-a i njegovih varijanti, već i od koronavirusa koji uzrokuju prehlade i nove koronaviruse životinja u nastajanju.

Jedna od autora studije, profesorica Mala Maini s Odsjeka za infekcije i imunitet Sveučilišta u Londonu (UCL), rekla je da su pojedinci koji su se prirodno odupirali infekciji Sars-CoV-2 generirali memorijske T stanice koje ciljaju na zaražene stanice koje eksprimiraju proteine replikacije, dio unutarnjeg stroja virusa.

- Ovi proteini, potrebni za najraniju fazu životnog ciklusa virusa, čim uđe u stanicu, zajednički su za sve koronaviruse i ostaju 'visoko konzervirani', pa je malo vjerojatno da će se promijeniti ili mutirati - rekla je autorica studije.

Objasnila je da bi T stanice koje prepoznaju stroj za replikaciju virusa pružile dodatni sloj zaštite u odnosu na onaj koji pruža imunitet usmjeren na šiljke, koji stvara već vrlo učinkovita sadašnja cjepiva.

- Ovo cjepivo s dvostrukim djelovanjem pružilo bi veću fleksibilnost protiv mutacija, a budući da T-stanice mogu biti nevjerojatno dugovječne, moglo bi pružiti i dugotrajniji imunitet - rekla je profesorica.

Opservacijska studija koju su vodili UCL i bolnica St Bartholomew, COVIDsortium, analizirala je imunološki odgovor zdravstvenih radnika sa sjedištem u Londonu od početka prvog vala pandemije u Velikoj Britaniji.

U podskupini zdravstvenih radnika koji nisu pokazivali nikakve znakove infekcije COVID-om – više puta su bili negativni – došlo je do povećanja T stanica.

Umjesto da su potpuno izbjegli infekciju, čini se da je podskup zdravstvenih radnika doživio prolaznu infekciju niske razine (abortivnu), koju nije moguće otkriti rutinskim testovima. Ali generirali su T stanice specifične za COVID.

- Znamo da neki pojedinci ostaju nezaraženi unatoč tome što su vjerojatno bili izloženi virusu. Ono što nismo znali je jesu li te osobe doista uspjele u potpunosti izbjeći virus ili su prirodno očistile virus prije nego što se mogao otkriti rutinskim testovima. Intenzivnim praćenjem zdravstvenih radnika u potrazi za znakovima infekcije i imunološkim odgovorima, identificirali smo manjinu s ovim specifičnim SARS-CoV-2 odgovorom T stanica - rekao je vodeći autor studije, doktor Leo Swadling iz Odjela za infekcije i imunitet UCL-a.

Komentirajući zašto bi neki ljudi mogli preboljeti infekciju bolje od drugih, dodao je da bi razlog mogao biti povijest infekcija tih osoba.

- Zdravstveni radnici koji su uspjeli kontrolirati virus prije nego što se mogao otkriti, vjerojatnije su imali T stanice koje prepoznaju unutarnje strojeve prije početka pandemije. Ove postojeće T stanice su spremne da prepoznaju Sars-CoV-2 - objasnio je doktor.

Otkriće T stanica moglo bi dovesti do razvoja cjepiva koje cilja na sve varijante COVID-a, pokazala je nova studija, prenosi Sky.

U članku objavljenom u časopisu Nature u srijedu, istraživači su rekli da bi sljedeća generacija cjepiva protiv COVID-a trebala imati za cilj da tijelo odgovori na specifične proteine koji su specifični za najranije faze virusa.

Osmišljavanjem uboda koji aktiviraju stanice imunološkog pamćenja - poznate kao T stanice - za napad na zaražene stanice, možda je moguće eliminirati COVID na početku i pomoći u zaustavljanju njegovog širenja, sugerira studija.

To bi moglo nadopuniti cjepiva protiv COVID-19 koja su trenutno licencirana u Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu, a koja samo pokreću imunološki odgovor na šiljasti protein koji strši izvan virusa.

Istraživači su rekli da bi otkriće moglo dovesti do stvaranja cjepiva za sve koronaviruse, koje ne bi štitilo samo od COVID-a i njegovih varijanti, već i od koronavirusa koji uzrokuju prehlade i nove koronaviruse životinja u nastajanju.

Jedna od autora studije, profesorica Mala Maini s Odsjeka za infekcije i imunitet Sveučilišta u Londonu (UCL), rekla je da su pojedinci koji su se prirodno odupirali infekciji Sars-CoV-2 generirali memorijske T stanice koje ciljaju na zaražene stanice koje eksprimiraju proteine replikacije, dio unutarnjeg stroja virusa.

- Ovi proteini, potrebni za najraniju fazu životnog ciklusa virusa, čim uđe u stanicu, zajednički su za sve koronaviruse i ostaju 'visoko konzervirani', pa je malo vjerojatno da će se promijeniti ili mutirati - rekla je autorica studije.

Objasnila je da bi T stanice koje prepoznaju stroj za replikaciju virusa pružile dodatni sloj zaštite u odnosu na onaj koji pruža imunitet usmjeren na šiljke, koji stvara već vrlo učinkovita sadašnja cjepiva.

- Ovo cjepivo s dvostrukim djelovanjem pružilo bi veću fleksibilnost protiv mutacija, a budući da T-stanice mogu biti nevjerojatno dugovječne, moglo bi pružiti i dugotrajniji imunitet - rekla je profesorica.

Opservacijska studija koju su vodili UCL i bolnica St Bartholomew, COVIDsortium, analizirala je imunološki odgovor zdravstvenih radnika sa sjedištem u Londonu od početka prvog vala pandemije u Velikoj Britaniji.

U podskupini zdravstvenih radnika koji nisu pokazivali nikakve znakove infekcije COVID-om – više puta su bili negativni – došlo je do povećanja T stanica.

Umjesto da su potpuno izbjegli infekciju, čini se da je podskup zdravstvenih radnika doživio prolaznu infekciju niske razine (abortivnu), koju nije moguće otkriti rutinskim testovima. Ali generirali su T stanice specifične za COVID.

- Znamo da neki pojedinci ostaju nezaraženi unatoč tome što su vjerojatno bili izloženi virusu. Ono što nismo znali je jesu li te osobe doista uspjele u potpunosti izbjeći virus ili su prirodno očistile virus prije nego što se mogao otkriti rutinskim testovima. Intenzivnim praćenjem zdravstvenih radnika u potrazi za znakovima infekcije i imunološkim odgovorima, identificirali smo manjinu s ovim specifičnim SARS-CoV-2 odgovorom T stanica - rekao je vodeći autor studije, doktor Leo Swadling iz Odjela za infekcije i imunitet UCL-a.

Komentirajući zašto bi neki ljudi mogli preboljeti infekciju bolje od drugih, dodao je da bi razlog mogao biti povijest infekcija tih osoba.

- Zdravstveni radnici koji su uspjeli kontrolirati virus prije nego što se mogao otkriti, vjerojatnije su imali T stanice koje prepoznaju unutarnje strojeve prije početka pandemije. Ove postojeće T stanice su spremne da prepoznaju Sars-CoV-2 - objasnio je doktor.

Otkriće T stanica moglo bi dovesti do razvoja cjepiva koje cilja na sve varijante COVID-a, pokazala je nova studija, prenosi Sky.

U članku objavljenom u časopisu Nature u srijedu, istraživači su rekli da bi sljedeća generacija cjepiva protiv COVID-a trebala imati za cilj da tijelo odgovori na specifične proteine koji su specifični za najranije faze virusa.

Osmišljavanjem uboda koji aktiviraju stanice imunološkog pamćenja - poznate kao T stanice - za napad na zaražene stanice, možda je moguće eliminirati COVID na početku i pomoći u zaustavljanju njegovog širenja, sugerira studija.

To bi moglo nadopuniti cjepiva protiv COVID-19 koja su trenutno licencirana u Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu, a koja samo pokreću imunološki odgovor na šiljasti protein koji strši izvan...
