Prema novoj analizi, samo su dvije od 11 korporacijskih studija koje su dane europskim regulatorima u prilog ponovnom odobrenju glifosata, inače glavnog sastojka u herbicidu Roundu ,a koji se korisiti za suzbijanje korova, znanstveno “pouzdane”. Glifosat je najčešće korišteni herbicid na svijetu i nije samo glavni sastojak Roundup-a, već i stotine drugih proizvoda koje poljoprivrendnici intenzivno koriste pri uzgoju prehrambenih usjeva, piše Jutarnji list. 

U izvješću objavljenom u petak, istraživači s Instituta za istraživanje raka na Medicinskom sveučilištu u Beču izjavili su kako je njihov pregled niza sigurnosnih studija koje su Bayer AG i koalicija drugih kemijskih tvrtki podnijeli regulatorima EU, pokazao da ih velika većina ne zadovoljavaju trenutne međunarodne standarde.

Tek su dvije korporativne studije ocjenjene pouzdanima, šest ih se smatra djelomično pouzdanim, a tri nisu pouzdane, navodi se u izvješću.

Pouzdane” studije bile su iz 2016. i 2020., a obje je sponzorirao Monsanto, izvorni nositelj patenta za glifosat i proizvođač Roundupa. One koje se smatraju nepouzdanima učinjene su prije više od deset godina: dva je sponzorirala bivši DuPont Co, a jednu tvrtka za biljnu biotehnologiju Verdia Inc.

Analize se odnose se na genotoksična svojstva glifosata. Tvrtke tvrde da glifosat nije genotoksičan, te da ne uzrokuje oštećenje DNK, budući da je takvo oštećenje prepoznato kao uzrok nastanka raka.

No Siegfried Knasmueller, glavni autor izvješća, rekao je za Guardian da ne samo da većina studija nema kvalitetu, već i da istraživanje korporacija nije uključila nove i “vjerojatno bolje testove za otkrivanje genotoksičnih kancerogena”. Rekao je i da postoje jasni dokazi u objavljenim istraživanjima kako glifosat može uzrokovati oštećenje DNK u ljudskim jetrenim stanicama.

Posljednjih nekoliko godina vodila se žestoka globalna rasprava o tome treba li ili ne treba ograničiti ili zabraniti herbicide glifosata. Godine 2015. Međunarodna agencija za istraživanje raka Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije ukazala je na nekoliko neovisnih istraživačkih studija kako di zaključila da postoje jaki dokazi o genotoksičnosti tog sredstva za ubijanje korova.

Bayer, koji je 2018. kupio proizvođača Roundupa Monsanto, poriče da postoje valjani dokazi da herbicidi uzrokuju rak. No tvrtka je ipak pristala platiti oko 14 milijardi dolara za rješavanje parnica koje je pokrenulo više od 100.000 korisnika Roundupa u SAD-u, navodeći da je izloženost lijeku za ubijanje korova uzrokovala razvoj ne-Hodgkinovog limfoma. Bayer je također pristao prestati prodavati glifosat američkim potrošačima do 2023.

Europski parlament se još 2017. usuprostavio prijedlogu Europske komisije da se obnovi kontroverzna dozvola za uporabu herbicida na sljedećih deset godina, što su zahtijevale neke države članice. Umjesto toga, zastupnici u Europskom parlamentu tražilo se da se prekine uporaba herbicida, počevši od potpune zabrane uporabe u kućanstvima i zabrane korištenja u poljoprivredi u slučaju kada biološke alternative (tj. „integrirani sustavi zaštite bilja") dobro funkcioniraju za suzbijanje korova.

Korištenje glifosata u Europskoj uniji treba zabraniti najkasnije do 15. prosinca 2022., pisalo je u rezoluciji. Kako vrijeme ide, tako je sve teže za očekivati kako će prijedlog iz te rezolucije zaživjeti.

Prema novoj analizi, samo su dvije od 11 korporacijskih studija koje su dane europskim regulatorima u prilog ponovnom odobrenju glifosata, inače glavnog sastojka u herbicidu Roundu ,a koji se korisiti za suzbijanje korova, znanstveno “pouzdane”. Glifosat je najčešće korišteni herbicid na svijetu i nije samo glavni sastojak Roundup-a, već i stotine drugih proizvoda koje poljoprivrendnici intenzivno koriste pri uzgoju prehrambenih usjeva, piše Jutarnji list. 

U izvješću objavljenom u petak, istraživači s Instituta za istraživanje raka na Medicinskom sveučilištu u Beču izjavili su kako je njihov pregled niza sigurnosnih studija koje su Bayer AG i koalicija drugih kemijskih tvrtki podnijeli regulatorima EU, pokazao da ih velika većina ne zadovoljavaju trenutne međunarodne standarde.

Tek su dvije korporativne studije ocjenjene pouzdanima, šest ih se smatra djelomično pouzdanim, a tri nisu pouzdane, navodi se u izvješću.

Pouzdane” studije bile su iz 2016. i 2020., a obje je sponzorirao Monsanto, izvorni nositelj patenta za glifosat i proizvođač Roundupa. One koje se smatraju nepouzdanima učinjene su prije više od deset godina: dva je sponzorirala bivši DuPont Co, a jednu tvrtka za biljnu biotehnologiju Verdia Inc.

Analize se odnose se na genotoksična svojstva glifosata. Tvrtke tvrde da glifosat nije genotoksičan, te da ne uzrokuje oštećenje DNK, budući da je takvo oštećenje prepoznato kao uzrok nastanka raka.

No Siegfried Knasmueller, glavni autor izvješća, rekao je za Guardian da ne samo da većina studija nema kvalitetu, već i da istraživanje korporacija nije uključila nove i “vjerojatno bolje testove za otkrivanje genotoksičnih kancerogena”. Rekao je i da postoje jasni dokazi u objavljenim istraživanjima kako glifosat može uzrokovati oštećenje DNK u ljudskim jetrenim stanicama.

Posljednjih nekoliko godina vodila se žestoka globalna rasprava o tome treba li ili ne treba ograničiti ili zabraniti herbicide glifosata. Godine 2015. Međunarodna agencija za istraživanje raka Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije ukazala je na nekoliko neovisnih istraživačkih studija kako di zaključila da postoje jaki dokazi o genotoksičnosti tog sredstva za ubijanje korova.

Bayer, koji je 2018. kupio proizvođača Roundupa Monsanto, poriče da postoje valjani dokazi da herbicidi uzrokuju rak. No tvrtka je ipak pristala platiti oko 14 milijardi dolara za rješavanje parnica koje je pokrenulo više od 100.000 korisnika Roundupa u SAD-u, navodeći da je izloženost lijeku za ubijanje korova uzrokovala razvoj ne-Hodgkinovog limfoma. Bayer je također pristao prestati prodavati glifosat američkim potrošačima do 2023.

Europski parlament se još 2017. usuprostavio prijedlogu Europske komisije da se obnovi kontroverzna dozvola za uporabu herbicida na sljedećih deset godina, što su zahtijevale neke države članice. Umjesto toga, zastupnici u Europskom parlamentu tražilo se da se prekine uporaba herbicida, počevši od potpune zabrane uporabe u kućanstvima i zabrane korištenja u poljoprivredi u slučaju kada biološke alternative (tj. „integrirani sustavi zaštite bilja") dobro funkcioniraju za suzbijanje korova.

Korištenje glifosata u Europskoj uniji treba zabraniti najkasnije do 15. prosinca 2022., pisalo je u rezoluciji. Kako vrijeme ide, tako je sve teže za očekivati kako će prijedlog iz te rezolucije zaživjeti.

Najkorišteniji herbicid na svijetu gotovo sigurno je kancerogen, no tvrka koja ga proizvodi to i dalje negira

Prema novoj analizi, samo su dvije od 11 korporacijskih studija koje su dane europskim regulatorima u prilog ponovnom odobrenju glifosata, inače glavnog sastojka u herbicidu Roundu ,a koji se korisiti za suzbijanje korova, znanstveno “pouzdane”. Glifosat je najčešće korišteni herbicid na svijetu i nije samo glavni sastojak Roundup-a, već i stotine drugih proizvoda koje poljoprivrendnici intenzivno koriste pri uzgoju prehrambenih usjeva, piše Jutarnji list. 

U izvješću objavljenom u petak, istraživači s Instituta za istraživanje raka na Medicinskom sveučilištu u Beču izjavili su kako je njihov pregled niza sigurnosnih studija koje su Bayer AG i koalicija drugih kemijskih tvrtki podnijeli regulatorima EU, pokazao da ih velika većina ne zadovoljavaju trenutne međunarodne stand...
