Britanci kontinuirano provode znanstvena istraživanja na velikom broju volontera na Otoku, iz kojih praktički u realnom vremenu saznajemo što se događa s omikron varijantom. Najnovije istraživanje pokazuje da je čak dvije trećine osoba koje su se nedavno zarazile omikronom u Velikoj Britaniji, već ranije preboljelo COVID. Prvi rezultati otkrivaju i skupine koje su prve na udaru, odnosno za koje je vjerojatnost ponovne zaraze koronavirusom veća. Riječ je o zdravstvenim radnicima i obiteljima s djecom.

Nešto ranije provedeno istraživanje Imperial College iz Londona pokazalo je da je rizik od reinfekcije omikronom 5.4 puta veći nego što je bio s prethodno dominantnim SARS-CoV-2 sojem deltom, te da je zaštita od ponovne infekcije od omikroa niža od 19 posto.

Jedna od glavnih značajki omikrona jest da zaobilazi imunitet izazvan cjepivom ili stečen prethodnim preboljenjem korone i upravo zbog toga se spominju i slučajevi da se osobe ovim sojem mogu zaraziti više puta.

Izjavio je to za časopis Health, pozivajući se između ostalog i na nedavno istraživanje virologa iz Južne Afrike, gdje se omikron prvi puta pojavio. U tom izvješću navodi se da su u zemlji imali reinfekcije omikronom. 

- Pogotovo je to moguće ako je infekcija koju ste imali bila blaga i niste imali jak imunološki odgovor, a ponovno ste izloženi velikoj dozi virusa - slaže se i prof. dr. Thomas Russo, šef odjela za zarazne bolesti Sveučilišta u Buffalu.

Većina liječnika ipak je tu još oprezna, premalo je podataka o tome da se moguće zaraziti istom varijantom u tako kratkom roku, pa su skloniji tumačenju kako se radi o produženoj infekciji, a ne reinfekciji. Pogotovo je to moguće kod imunokompromitiranih osoba kod kojih PCR test može biti pozitivan i nakon tri mjeseca od prvog testiranja.

Prema podacima američkog Centra za kontrolu i prevenciju bolesti (CDC) omikron je trenutno u SAD-u odgovoran za 98,3 posto infekcija, a ostalih 1,7 posto infekcija još uvijek pripada delta varijanti. S obzirom da su dva soja u zraku, od kojih je jedan imao velike mutacije, znanstvenicima se postavljaju i pitanja je li moguće istovremeno dobiti omikron i delta varijantu?

Mogućnost je iznimno mala jer je delta jako malo zastupljena, no ni to nije nemoguće.

Dr. Russo za Health je objasnio kako je najbolji način na koji bi mogli shvatiti kako se ovakva koinfekcija može dogoditi kroz primjer da zamislimo kako smo u baru ili na nekom okupljanju u kojem ima više ljudi koji su zaraženi koronom.

- Ako neki ljudi imaju varijantu omikron, a drugi deltu, svi oni izbacuju te virusne čestice u zrak, izlažući vas i jednoj i drugoj mutaciji.Na taj način možete dobiti dozu oba virusa u isto vrijeme.To je apsolutno moguće s molekularne točke gledanja - izjavio je dr. Russo.

Omikron varijanta može inficirati neke stanice, a delta druge.

  - Kad virus uđe u vaše tijelo, čestice se neće vezati za svaku pojedinu stanicu, pa je tako moguće da se u koinfekciji različiti sojevi virusa mogu vezati na različite stanice u isto vrijeme - kaže dr. Russo, a prenosi Prestige .

Britanci kontinuirano provode znanstvena istraživanja na velikom broju volontera na Otoku, iz kojih praktički u realnom vremenu saznajemo što se događa s omikron varijantom. Najnovije istraživanje pokazuje da je čak dvije trećine osoba koje su se nedavno zarazile omikronom u Velikoj Britaniji, već ranije preboljelo COVID. Prvi rezultati otkrivaju i skupine koje su prve na udaru, odnosno za koje je vjerojatnost ponovne zaraze koronavirusom veća. Riječ je o zdravstvenim radnicima i obiteljima s djecom.

Nešto ranije provedeno istraživanje Imperial College iz Londona pokazalo je da je rizik od reinfekcije omikronom 5.4 puta veći nego što je bio s prethodno dominantnim SARS-CoV-2 sojem deltom, te da je zaštita od ponovne infekcije od omikroa niža od 19 posto.

Jedna od glavnih značajki omikrona jest da zaobilazi imunitet izazvan cjepivom ili stečen prethodnim preboljenjem korone i upravo zbog toga se spominju i slučajevi da se osobe ovim sojem mogu zaraziti više puta.    

- Omikron možete dobiti dva puta! - nema dileme Stanley Weiss, profesor na Rutgersu.

Izjavio je to za časopis Health, pozivajući se između ostalog i na nedavno istraživanje virologa iz Južne Afrike, gdje se omikron prvi puta pojavio. U tom izvješću navodi se da su u zemlji imali reinfekcije omikronom. 

- Pogotovo je to moguće ako je infekcija koju ste imali bila blaga i niste imali jak imunološki odgovor, a ponovno ste izloženi velikoj dozi virusa - slaže se i prof. dr. Thomas Russo, šef odjela za zarazne bolesti Sveučilišta u Buffalu.

Većina liječnika ipak je tu još oprezna, premalo je podataka o tome da se moguće zaraziti istom varijantom u tako kratkom roku, pa su skloniji tumačenju kako se radi o produženoj infekciji, a ne reinfekciji. Pogotovo je to moguće kod imunokompromitiranih osoba kod kojih PCR test može biti pozitivan i nakon tri mjeseca od prvog testiranja.

Prema podacima američkog Centra za kontrolu i prevenciju bolesti (CDC) omikron je trenutno u SAD-u odgovoran za 98,3 posto infekcija, a ostalih 1,7 posto infekcija još uvijek pripada delta varijanti. S obzirom da su dva soja u zraku, od kojih je jedan imao velike mutacije, znanstvenicima se postavljaju i pitanja je li moguće istovremeno dobiti omikron i delta varijantu?

Mogućnost je iznimno mala jer je delta jako malo zastupljena, no ni to nije nemoguće.

Dr. Russo za Health je objasnio kako je najbolji način na koji bi mogli shvatiti kako se ovakva koinfekcija može dogoditi kroz primjer da zamislimo kako smo u baru ili na nekom okupljanju u kojem ima više ljudi koji su zaraženi koronom.

- Ako neki ljudi imaju varijantu omikron, a drugi deltu, svi oni izbacuju te virusne čestice u zrak, izlažući vas i jednoj i drugoj mutaciji.Na taj način možete dobiti dozu oba virusa u isto vrijeme.To je apsolutno moguće s molekularne točke gledanja - izjavio je dr. Russo.

Omikron varijanta može inficirati neke stanice, a delta druge.

  - Kad virus uđe u vaše tijelo, čestice se neće vezati za svaku pojedinu stanicu, pa je tako moguće da se u koinfekciji različiti sojevi virusa mogu vezati na različite stanice u isto vrijeme - kaže dr. Russo, a prenosi Prestige .
