Nova omikron varijanta virusa covid-19 najvjerojatnije je pokupila barem jednu od svojih mnogobrojnih mutacija tako što je preuzela komadić genetskog materijala drugog virusa i to najvjerojatnije onog koji uzrokuje prehladu, koji je prisutan u istim zaraženim stanicama, tvrde istraživači, prenosi Jutarnji.

Kako piše Reuters, ovo nije primijećeno ni u jednoj ranijoj varijanti koronavirusa, nazvanoj SARS-CoV-2, ali je prisutno u mnogim drugim virusima, uključujući one koji uzrokuju prehladu, kao i u ljudskom genomu, navode stručnjaci.

"Omikron preuzimanjem novog 'koda' sebe čini 'ljudskijim', a to mu može pomoći u izbjegavanju imunološkog sustava", rekao je stručnjak Venky Soundararajan iz tvrtke nference, koja se bavi analizom podataka, a bazirana je u Cambridgeu, u američkoj saveznoj državi Massachusetts. Soundararajan je vodio ovo istraživanje objavljeno kao preprint, što znači da još uvijek čeka svoju znanstvenu recenziju.

Otkriće bi moglo značiti da se virus lakše prenosi, ali i da uzrokuje samo blagu ili asimptomatsku bolest, što bi bila izvrsna vijest za čovječanstvo nakon gotovo dvije godine pandemije. Znanstvenici još ne znaju je li omikron zarazniji od ostalih varijanti, uzrokuje li teži oblik bolesti ili će prestići deltu kao najrašireniju varijantu koronavirusa.

Prema ranijim studijama, stanice u plućima i u gastrointestinalnom sustavu mogu istovremeno sadržavati SARS-CoV-2 i viruse obične prehlade. To bi omogućilo virusnu rekombinaciju, proces u kojem dva različita virusa u istoj stanici domaćinu međusobno djeluju dok same sebe kopiraju, stvarajući nove kopije koje imaju genetski materijal oba "roditelja".

Isti genetski slijed pojavljuje se i kod humanog koronavirusa HCoV-229E koji uzrokuje prehladu kod ljudi, kao i u virusu HIV-a koji uzrokuje AIDS, navodi Soundararajan.

Južna Afrika, gdje je omikron prvi put identificiran, ima najveću stopu zaraženih HIV-om na svijetu, a on slabi imunološki sustav i povećava osjetljivost osobe na infekcije virusima prehlade i drugim patogenima. U tom dijelu svijeta postoji mnogo ljudi kod kojih se mogla dogoditi rekombinacija, rekao je Soundararajan.

"Vjerojatno smo propustili mnoge generacije rekombinacija koje su se dogodile tijekom vremena i koje su dovele do pojave omikrona", dodao je stručnjak.

Potrebno je više istraživanja kako bi se potvrdilo podrijetlo omikronovih mutacija i njihov učinak na funkciju i prijenos. Također postoje i neke druge hipoteze o tome da je najnovija varijanta koronavirusa provela neko vrijeme razvijajući se u životinjskom domaćinu.

Soundararajan navodi da ova nova otkrića naglašavaju važnost cijepljenja protiv koronavirusa. "Morate se cijepiti kako biste smanjili izglede da se drugi ljudi, koji su imunokompromitirani, susretnu s virusom SARS-CoV-2", rekao je Soundararajan, prenosi Reuters.

Nova omikron varijanta virusa covid-19 najvjerojatnije je pokupila barem jednu od svojih mnogobrojnih mutacija tako što je preuzela komadić genetskog materijala drugog virusa i to najvjerojatnije onog koji uzrokuje prehladu, koji je prisutan u istim zaraženim stanicama, tvrde istraživači, prenosi Jutarnji.

Kako piše Reuters, ovo nije primijećeno ni u jednoj ranijoj varijanti koronavirusa, nazvanoj SARS-CoV-2, ali je prisutno u mnogim drugim virusima, uključujući one koji uzrokuju prehladu, kao i u ljudskom genomu, navode stručnjaci.

"Omikron preuzimanjem novog 'koda' sebe čini 'ljudskijim', a to mu može pomoći u izbjegavanju imunološkog sustava", rekao je stručnjak Venky Soundararajan iz tvrtke nference, koja se bavi analizom podataka, a bazirana je u Cambridgeu, u američkoj saveznoj državi Massachusetts. Soundararajan je vodio ovo istraživanje objavljeno kao preprint, što znači da još uvijek čeka svoju znanstvenu recenziju.

Otkriće bi moglo značiti da se virus lakše prenosi, ali i da uzrokuje samo blagu ili asimptomatsku bolest, što bi bila izvrsna vijest za čovječanstvo nakon gotovo dvije godine pandemije. Znanstvenici još ne znaju je li omikron zarazniji od ostalih varijanti, uzrokuje li teži oblik bolesti ili će prestići deltu kao najrašireniju varijantu koronavirusa.

Prema ranijim studijama, stanice u plućima i u gastrointestinalnom sustavu mogu istovremeno sadržavati SARS-CoV-2 i viruse obične prehlade. To bi omogućilo virusnu rekombinaciju, proces u kojem dva različita virusa u istoj stanici domaćinu međusobno djeluju dok same sebe kopiraju, stvarajući nove kopije koje imaju genetski materijal oba "roditelja".

Isti genetski slijed pojavljuje se i kod humanog koronavirusa HCoV-229E koji uzrokuje prehladu kod ljudi, kao i u virusu HIV-a koji uzrokuje AIDS, navodi Soundararajan.

Južna Afrika, gdje je omikron prvi put identificiran, ima najveću stopu zaraženih HIV-om na svijetu, a on slabi imunološki sustav i povećava osjetljivost osobe na infekcije virusima prehlade i drugim patogenima. U tom dijelu svijeta postoji mnogo ljudi kod kojih se mogla dogoditi rekombinacija, rekao je Soundararajan.

"Vjerojatno smo propustili mnoge generacije rekombinacija koje su se dogodile tijekom vremena i koje su dovele do pojave omikrona", dodao je stručnjak.

Potrebno je više istraživanja kako bi se potvrdilo podrijetlo omikronovih mutacija i njihov učinak na funkciju i prijenos. Također postoje i neke druge hipoteze o tome da je najnovija varijanta koronavirusa provela neko vrijeme razvijajući se u životinjskom domaćinu.

Soundararajan navodi da ova nova otkrića naglašavaju važnost cijepljenja protiv koronavirusa. "Morate se cijepiti kako biste smanjili izglede da se drugi ljudi, koji su imunokompromitirani, susretnu s virusom SARS-CoV-2", rekao je Soundararajan, prenosi Reuters.

Nova omikron varijanta virusa covid-19 najvjerojatnije je pokupila barem jednu od svojih mnogobrojnih mutacija tako što je preuzela komadić genetskog materijala drugog virusa i to najvjerojatnije onog koji uzrokuje prehladu, koji je prisutan u istim zaraženim stanicama, tvrde istraživači, prenosi Jutarnji.

Kako piše Reuters, ovo nije primijećeno ni u jednoj ranijoj varijanti koronavirusa, nazvanoj SARS-CoV-2, ali je prisutno u mnogim drugim virusima, uključujući one koji uzrokuju prehladu, kao i u ljudskom genomu, navode stručnjaci.
