Nakon vijesti o granatiranju najveće europske nuklearke, koju je u Ukrajini okupirala Rusija, u Europi je ponovno aktualan strah od novog Černobila, a možda i gore nuklearne katastrofe. Elektrana u Zaporožju je ovih dana pogođena nekoliko puta, a Ukrajina i Rusija su jedna na drugu višekratno prebacivale odgovornost za napade. Rusi su u krugu nuklearke rasporedili najmanje 500 vojnika i pripadajuću ratnu tehniku poput tenkova i artiljerije, čime provociraju opasnost od fatalnijih oštećenja na atomskoj infrastrukturi u slučaju uzvrata vatre.

Ukrajinska agencija Energoatom koja upravlja nuklearkom priopćila je da su neke ruske rakete pale blizu prostora s radioaktivnim otpadom, te da su čak oštećeni i detektori za praćenje radijacije u nuklearki. Rusi su, s druge strane, kontraoptužili Ukrajinu da je dva puta raketirala elektranu i omela predaju smjene između dvije posade.

Osim zabrinutosti, vijesti su izazvale i međunarodnu osudu pa je generalni tajnik UN-a Antonio Guterres svaki napad na nuklearna postrojenja nazvao saoubilačkim a šef Međunarodne agencije za atomsku energiju Rafael Mariano Grossi pozvao obje strane da "pokažu krajnju suzdržanost" i da se udalje iz šireg kruga elektrane. Ukrajinski predsjednik Volodimir Zelenski pozvao je Zapad na izricanje novih sankcija Rusiji, ponavljajući upozorenja o mogućoj novoj katastrofi černobilskih razmjera.

Za razliku od političara, stručnjaci ipak nisu toliko dramatični u procjenama mogućnosti da se u Zaporožju sutra desi neki novi Černobil. Portal Politico je u detaljnoj analizi ustvrdio da su rizici od granatiranja u nuklearki Zaporožje ipak ograničenog dometa, s obzirom da su reaktori zaštićeni betonskim zidom debelim i do deset metara. Što se tiče oštećenja na skladištima radioaktivnog materijala, njihovo curenje bi izazvalo ograničenu štetu pošto se otrovna zračenja ne bi širila dalje od desetak kilometara od samoga kruga elektrane.

Direktor programa nuklearne politike u Carnegie Endowment for International Peace James Acton također smatra da granatiranje nije pravi rizik po nuklearku Zaporožje. Po njemu, najveća ranjivost od eksplozija odnosi se na sisteme za hlađenje elektrane koji su dizajnirani za priključivanje na vanjsku energetsku mrežu. Ako se sistemi za hlađenje oštete ili pokvare, te dovedu do kvara reaktora, to posljedično opet ne bi bilo ni približno usporedivo s tragedijom nuklearke u Černobilu, jer bi se posljedice osjetile tek lokalnu, u radijusu od 30-ak kilometara, procjenjuje James Acton.

Rusija je elektranu u Zaporožju zauzela još u ožujku. U njezinu krugu se koncentriraju ruske trupe, dok u samoj nuklearki rade ukrajinski stručnjaci. Brojne zemlje, uključujući SAD, uputile su prijedlog da se područje oko elektrane proglasi demilitariziranom zono te da nuklarku posjete dužnosnici Međunarodne agencije za atomsku energiju i izrade procjenu njezina sigurnosnog stanja.

Nakon vijesti o granatiranju najveće europske nuklearke, koju je u Ukrajini okupirala Rusija, u Europi je ponovno aktualan strah od novog Černobila, a možda i gore nuklearne katastrofe. Elektrana u Zaporožju je ovih dana pogođena nekoliko puta, a Ukrajina i Rusija su jedna na drugu višekratno prebacivale odgovornost za napade. Rusi su u krugu nuklearke rasporedili najmanje 500 vojnika i pripadajuću ratnu tehniku poput tenkova i artiljerije, čime provociraju opasnost od fatalnijih oštećenja na atomskoj infrastrukturi u slučaju uzvrata vatre.

Ukrajinska agencija Energoatom koja upravlja nuklearkom priopćila je da su neke ruske rakete pale blizu prostora s radioaktivnim otpadom, te da su čak oštećeni i detektori za praćenje radijacije u nuklearki. Rusi su, s druge strane, kontraoptužili Ukrajinu da je dva puta raketirala elektranu i omela predaju smjene između dvije posade.

Osim zabrinutosti, vijesti su izazvale i međunarodnu osudu pa je generalni tajnik UN-a Antonio Guterres svaki napad na nuklearna postrojenja nazvao saoubilačkim a šef Međunarodne agencije za atomsku energiju Rafael Mariano Grossi pozvao obje strane da "pokažu krajnju suzdržanost" i da se udalje iz šireg kruga elektrane. Ukrajinski predsjednik Volodimir Zelenski pozvao je Zapad na izricanje novih sankcija Rusiji, ponavljajući upozorenja o mogućoj novoj katastrofi černobilskih razmjera.

Za razliku od političara, stručnjaci ipak nisu toliko dramatični u procjenama mogućnosti da se u Zaporožju sutra desi neki novi Černobil. Portal Politico je u detaljnoj analizi ustvrdio da su rizici od granatiranja u nuklearki Zaporožje ipak ograničenog dometa, s obzirom da su reaktori zaštićeni betonskim zidom debelim i do deset metara. Što se tiče oštećenja na skladištima radioaktivnog materijala, njihovo curenje bi izazvalo ograničenu štetu pošto se otrovna zračenja ne bi širila dalje od desetak kilometara od samoga kruga elektrane.

Direktor programa nuklearne politike u Carnegie Endowment for International Peace James Acton također smatra da granatiranje nije pravi rizik po nuklearku Zaporožje. Po njemu, najveća ranjivost od eksplozija odnosi se na sisteme za hlađenje elektrane koji su dizajnirani za priključivanje na vanjsku energetsku mrežu. Ako se sistemi za hlađenje oštete ili pokvare, te dovedu do kvara reaktora, to posljedično opet ne bi bilo ni približno usporedivo s tragedijom nuklearke u Černobilu, jer bi se posljedice osjetile tek lokalnu, u radijusu od 30-ak kilometara, procjenjuje James Acton.

Rusija je elektranu u Zaporožju zauzela još u ožujku. U njezinu krugu se koncentriraju ruske trupe, dok u samoj nuklearki rade ukrajinski stručnjaci. Brojne zemlje, uključujući SAD, uputile su prijedlog da se područje oko elektrane proglasi demilitariziranom zono te da nuklarku posjete dužnosnici Međunarodne agencije za atomsku energiju i izrade procjenu njezina sigurnosnog stanja.
