Inovativna rješenja postoje i promjene se moraju ubrzati jer živa bića ne smiju patiti, složili su se zastupnici u Europskom parlamentu raspravljajući o alternativnim znanstvenim istraživanjima koja ne uključuju životinje.

Europska unija se prije gotovo tri desetljeća obvezala na zamjenu i smanjenje broja životinja koje se koriste u znanstvene svrhe, no promjene se odvijaju vrlo sporo.

S obzirom na europski zeleni plan, zdravstvene i okolišne izazove i sve veću zabrinutost javnosti zbog upotrebe životinja u pokusima, važno je da EU ubrza prijelaz sa zastarjelog modela na modernu znanost, smatraju eurozastupnici.

Oni su na plenarnoj sjednici proteklog tjedna raspravljali o planovima i mjerama za ubrzanje prijelaza na inovacije bez upotrebe životinja u istraživanjima, regulatornim ispitivanjima i obrazovanju, o čemu će glasati u rujnu.

"Milijuni mačaka, pasa, čak i riba životinje su koje jedu toksične tvari, kojima se mijenjaju geni, kojima se lome kosti“, rekla je Jytte Guteland (S&D).

"Neke životinje pokazuju iste simptome (kao ljudi), pa zašto onda ne bismo koristili njihove stanice i podvrgnuli ih testovima kojima podvrgavamo i ljudske stanice“, predložila je.

Razvoj inovativnih metoda

Eleonora Evi (Verts/ALE) je navela da se svake godine u Europi koristi 50 milijuna životinja u znanstvene svrhe. "Ali to nije samo etičko pitanje. Na ovaj način ne iskorištavamo potencijale inovativne metodologije koja se temelji na čovjeku, koja već pokazuje konkretan napredak u liječenju bolesti poput raka i Alzheimera gdje nisu uspjele tradicionalne metode“, dodala je.

Katalin Cseh (Renew) kaže da 7 od 10 odraslih Europljana smatra da bi zamjena svih vrsta testiranja trebala biti prioritet EU-u. "Životinje nisu roba koju se može odbaciti. Nametati i izazivati bol i patnju, tome nema mjesta u 21. stoljeću“, istaknula je.

Zagovaratelji prava životinja upozoravaju da životinje ne mogu opisati kako se osjećaju i da su brojni lijekovi odobreni za ljudsku uporabu na temelju ispitivanja na životinjama trebali davno biti povučeni s tržišta zbog nuspojava koje nisu otkrivene na životinjama.

Postoji direktiva, ali nema strategije

EU je u ožujku 2009. zabranila stavljanje na tržište kozmetičkih proizvoda koji sadrže sastojke testirane na životinjama.Četiri godine kasnije zabranila je i ostale kozmetičke tvari testirane na životinjama.

No, Jadwiga Wiśniewska (ECR) je rekla da ne postoji strategija za zamjenu životinja alternativnim metodama.
Adina-Ioana Vălean iz Europske komisije uvjerava da je EK spremna poduprijeti razvoj alternativa tako što će financirati istraživanja. EU želi da države članice budu potpuno transparentne kada je riječ o upotrebi životinja u znanosti, dodala je.

Kako bi osiguralo bolje razumijevanje o tome gdje se i kako životinje koriste, članice Unije svake godine moraju prikupiti i objaviti statističke podatke o korištenju životinja u postupcima, uključujući informacije o stvarnoj težini postupaka te o podrijetlu i vrstama primata korištenih u postupcima.

Odgovornost prema svim bićima

Broj eksperimenata koji uključuju životinje tek se blago smanjio u zadnjih 30 godina, a u brojnim je članicama taj broj i veći, istaknula je Anja Hazekamp (The Left). Podsjetila je na tajnu snimku njemačkog istraživačkog novinara koja prikazuje zlouporabu životinja, istraživanja na životinjama bez anestetika i premlaćivanje.

"Kada govorimo o upotrebi životinja u znanstvene svrhe, uvijek pred sobom imam istu sliku, to je slika majmuna čije su ruke vezane i koji gleda kameru. Vidimo patnju u njegovim očima, kao da pita – zašto?“, nadovezala se Caroline Roose (Verts/ALE). 

Ljubitelji životinja vjeruju da je najveća okrutnost koju ljudi nanose životinjama u znanstvenim istraživanjima njihovo micanje iz prirodnog staništa ili uzgoj u zatočeništvu. Uvjereni su da se moral društva mjeri prema načinu na koji se ljudi odnose prema životinjama.

Ispitivanja na životinjama u prošlosti su dala točne odgovore na općenita pitanja o živom organizmu, no danas se znanstvenici bave istraživanjima na razini na kojoj se jedna vrsta razlikuje od druge, a to je stanična i molekularna razina, podsjećaju zagovaratelji prava životinja.

Krajnji cilj EU-a je prekinuti pokuse na životinjama zamjenom tih pokusa alternativnim pristupima. No, s obzirom na postojeće znanstvene spoznaje, zamjena svih pokusa na životinjama još uvijek nije izvediva.

Zbog toga zakonodavstvo nastoji osigurati da se situacija živih bića koje se još uvijek upotrebljavaju za pokuse poboljša i bude u skladu s pravilom da se takvi pokusi moraju zamijeniti, smanjiti i poboljšati kada god je to moguće.

Inovativna rješenja postoje i promjene se moraju ubrzati jer živa bića ne smiju patiti, složili su se zastupnici u Europskom parlamentu raspravljajući o alternativnim znanstvenim istraživanjima koja ne uključuju životinje.

Europska unija se prije gotovo tri desetljeća obvezala na zamjenu i smanjenje broja životinja koje se koriste u znanstvene svrhe, no promjene se odvijaju vrlo sporo.

S obzirom na europski zeleni plan, zdravstvene i okolišne izazove i sve veću zabrinutost javnosti zbog upotrebe životinja u pokusima, važno je da EU ubrza prijelaz sa zastarjelog modela na modernu znanost, smatraju eurozastupnici.

Oni su na plenarnoj sjednici proteklog tjedna raspravljali o planovima i mjerama za ubrzanje prijelaza na inovacije bez upotrebe životinja u istraživanjima, regulatornim ispitivanjima i obrazovanju, o čemu će glasati u rujnu.

"Milijuni mačaka, pasa, čak i riba životinje su koje jedu toksične tvari, kojima se mijenjaju geni, kojima se lome kosti“, rekla je Jytte Guteland (S&D).

"Neke životinje pokazuju iste simptome (kao ljudi), pa zašto onda ne bismo koristili njihove stanice i podvrgnuli ih testovima kojima podvrgavamo i ljudske stanice“, predložila je.

Razvoj inovativnih metoda

Eleonora Evi (Verts/ALE) je navela da se svake godine u Europi koristi 50 milijuna životinja u znanstvene svrhe. "Ali to nije samo etičko pitanje. Na ovaj način ne iskorištavamo potencijale inovativne metodologije koja se temelji na čovjeku, koja već pokazuje konkretan napredak u liječenju bolesti poput raka i Alzheimera gdje nisu uspjele tradicionalne metode“, dodala je.

Katalin Cseh (Renew) kaže da 7 od 10 odraslih Europljana smatra da bi zamjena svih vrsta testiranja trebala biti prioritet EU-u. "Životinje nisu roba koju se može odbaciti. Nametati i izazivati bol i patnju, tome nema mjesta u 21. stoljeću“, istaknula je.

Zagovaratelji prava životinja upozoravaju da životinje ne mogu opisati kako se osjećaju i da su brojni lijekovi odobreni za ljudsku uporabu na temelju ispitivanja na životinjama trebali davno biti povučeni s tržišta zbog nuspojava koje nisu otkrivene na životinjama.

Postoji direktiva, ali nema strategije

EU je u ožujku 2009. zabranila stavljanje na tržište kozmetičkih proizvoda koji sadrže sastojke testirane na životinjama.Četiri godine kasnije zabranila je i ostale kozmetičke tvari testirane na životinjama.

No, Jadwiga Wiśniewska (ECR) je rekla da ne postoji strategija za zamjenu životinja alternativnim metodama.
Adina-Ioana Vălean iz Europske komisije uvjerava da je EK spremna poduprijeti razvoj alternativa tako što će financirati istraživanja. EU želi da države članice budu potpuno transparentne kada je riječ o upotrebi životinja u znanosti, dodala je.

Kako bi osiguralo bolje razumijevanje o tome gdje se i kako životinje koriste, članice Unije svake godine moraju prikupiti i objaviti statističke podatke o korištenju životinja u postupcima, uključujući informacije o stvarnoj težini postupaka te o podrijetlu i vrstama primata korištenih u postupcima.

Odgovornost prema svim bićima

Broj eksperimenata koji uključuju životinje tek se blago smanjio u zadnjih 30 godina, a u brojnim je članicama taj broj i veći, istaknula je Anja Hazekamp (The Left). Podsjetila je na tajnu snimku njemačkog istraživačkog novinara koja prikazuje zlouporabu životinja, istraživanja na životinjama bez anestetika i premlaćivanje.

"Kada govorimo o upotrebi životinja u znanstvene svrhe, uvijek pred sobom imam istu sliku, to je slika majmuna čije su ruke vezane i koji gleda kameru. Vidimo patnju u njegovim očima, kao da pita – zašto?“, nadovezala se Caroline Roose (Verts/ALE). 

Ljubitelji životinja vjeruju da je najveća okrutnost koju ljudi nanose životinjama u znanstvenim istraživanjima njihovo micanje iz prirodnog staništa ili uzgoj u zatočeništvu. Uvjereni su da se moral društva mjeri prema načinu na koji se ljudi odnose prema životinjama.

Ispitivanja na životinjama u prošlosti su dala točne odgovore na općenita pitanja o živom organizmu, no danas se znanstvenici bave istraživanjima na razini na kojoj se jedna vrsta razlikuje od druge, a to je stanična i molekularna razina, podsjećaju zagovaratelji prava životinja.

Krajnji cilj EU-a je prekinuti pokuse na životinjama zamjenom tih pokusa alternativnim pristupima. No, s obzirom na postojeće znanstvene spoznaje, zamjena svih pokusa na životinjama još uvijek nije izvediva.

Zbog toga zakonodavstvo nastoji osigurati da se situacija živih bića koje se još uvijek upotrebljavaju za pokuse poboljša i bude u skladu s pravilom da se takvi pokusi moraju zamijeniti, smanjiti i poboljšati kada god je to moguće.

Europarlamentarci se zalažu se za smanjenje istraživanja na životinja, glasanje se očekuje u rujnu

Inovativna rješenja postoje i promjene se moraju ubrzati jer živa bića ne smiju patiti, složili su se zastupnici u Europskom parlamentu raspravljajući o alternativnim znanstvenim istraživanjima koja ne uključuju životinje.

Europska unija se prije gotovo tri desetljeća obvezala na zamjenu i smanjenje broja životinja koje se koriste u znanstvene svrhe, no promjene se odvijaju vrlo sporo.

S obzirom na europski zeleni plan, zdravstvene i okolišne izazove i sve veću zabrinutost javnosti zbog upotrebe životinja u pokusima, važno je da EU ubrza prijelaz sa zastarjelog modela na modernu znanost, smatraju eurozastupnici.

Oni su na plenarnoj sjednici proteklog tjedna raspravljali o planovima i mjerama za ubrzanje prijelaza na inovacije bez upotrebe životinja u istraživanjima,...
