Prvi hrvatski epidemiolog Krunoslav Capak bio je prilično jasan. Hrvatska je napravila velik posao i zaražene svela na jednoznamenkasti broj. No, to nipošto ne znači da smo se riješili koronavirusa. Postoji prilično realna opasnost od pojave drugoga vala epidemije.
- Ako se nakon ljetne pauze, gdje očekujemo da će biti manje oboljelih i da će biti mirnije, virus vrati s istim karakteristikama kao sada, vjerojatno će doći do drugog vala – ustvrdio je Capak na današnjoj konferenciji za novinare. Ima i dobrih vijesti. Tada ćemo, uvjeren je ravnatelj Hrvatskog zavoda za javno zdravstvo, znati puno više, biti spretniji i pametniji. Možda ćemo, kazao je on, imati i neko oružje u rukama.
Ono oko čega je pak bio decidiran jest drugi val. Njega možemo očekivati ako se s virusom nešto ne promijeni. Ako ne nestane kao SARS. Nego se i dalje s lakoćom nastavi širiti.
Niz zemalja već se suočio s drugim valom. Neke su na njega - zahvaljujući stečenom iskustvu - reagirale puno bolje nego tijekom prvog udara. Ispravile pogreške, stavile glave na kup, poduzele mjere koje su propustile poduzeti na početku. I izbjegle katastrofu.
Druge su, međutim, prvi val iskontrolirale „k'o od šale“. Pravi udarac zadao im je drugi val.
Japan je jedan od takvih primjera. Na Hokkaidu, otoku na sjeveru zemlje, novi koronavirus se pojavio već koncem siječnja. Na poznatom zimskom festivalu u Sapporu. Skulpture od leda promatrao je i veliki broj kineskih turista. Bili su praznici, lunarna nova godina tek što je otpočela.
Mjesec dana kasnije na Hokkaidu je proglašeno izvanredno stanje. Zatvorene su škole, tvrtke i restorani. Unatoč predanom radu epidemiologa, izoliranju kontakata i praćenju smjerova zaraze, ova je turistički orijentirana regija od 5 milijuna stanovnika imala najviše zaraženih u čitavom Japanu, njih 66.
Dva tjedna kasnije broj zaraženih je pao na jednog ili dvoje dnevno.
Tri tjedna kasnije izvanredno stanje je opozvano i život se polako počeo vraćati u normalu. Brzo nakon toga broj novozaraženih iz dana u dan je opet postao dvoznamenkast. Vlasti su odlučile ponovno proglasiti „lockdown“, ovaj put do 6. svibnja.
Singapur je također bio jedna od zemalja koje su svi hvalili zbog načina na koji su - brzo i efikasno - uspjeti stati u kraj koronavirusu. Sve dok ih nije pogodio drugi val. Početkom travnja epidemija je ponovno eksplodirala, a broj novih slučajeva u državi od 5,6 milijuna stanovnika na dnevnoj bazi raste za tisuću i četiristo.
Južna Koreja pronašla je dobar recept da izbjegne ponavljanje epidemije netom nakon što su se epidemije riješili. A recept se sastoji od jednog jedinog sastojka: masovnog testiranja.
Tamošnje vlasti su, ne želeći reprizu SARS-a, reagirale brzo, provele testiranje širokih razmjera i pedantno popisivale sve bliske kontakte zaraženih. Testiranja su se - zahvaljujući vlastitim tvornicama reagensa od kojih se rade testovi - vršila po kvartovima u mobilnim mini-laboratorijima. Zaraženi su detektirani, njihovi kontakti slani u samoizolaciju. Građani su pomoću mobilne aplikacije obavještavani svaki put kada se u njihovom susjedstvu pojavio netko novi pozitivan na koronavirus.
Prvi slučajevi zaraze koronavirusom u Južnoj Koreji pojavili su se praktički kada i u SAD-u i Velikoj Britaniji. Danas u SAD-u svakoga dana ima 25 tisuća novih slučajeva, u Velikoj Britaniji 5,8 tisuća, a u Južnoj Koreji njih - osam. Ne tisuća. Osam slučajeva.
Unatoč tome, tamošnje vlasti tvrde da priča s koronom nije gotova. I pripremaju zemlju za mogućnost pojave drugoga vala. Predviđaju da bi se on mogao dogoditi na jesen ili zimu.
A tada ništa ne žele prepustiti slučaju. Ne žele da im se dogodi ono što su u prvom valu tako uspješno izbjegli.

Prvi hrvatski epidemiolog Krunoslav Capak bio je prilično jasan. Hrvatska je napravila velik posao i zaražene svela na jednoznamenkasti broj. No, to nipošto ne znači da smo se riješili koronavirusa. Postoji prilično realna opasnost od pojave drugoga vala epidemije.
- Ako se nakon ljetne pauze, gdje očekujemo da će biti manje oboljelih i da će biti mirnije, virus vrati s istim karakteristikama kao sada, vjerojatno će doći do drugog vala – ustvrdio je Capak na današnjoj konferenciji za novinare. Ima i dobrih vijesti. Tada ćemo, uvjeren je ravnatelj Hrvatskog zavoda za javno zdravstvo, znati puno više, biti spretniji i pametniji. Možda ćemo, kazao je on, imati i neko oružje u rukama.
Ono oko čega je pak bio decidiran jest drugi val. Njega možemo očekivati ako se s virusom nešto ne promijeni. Ako ne nestane kao SARS. Nego se i dalje s lakoćom nastavi širiti.
Niz zemalja već se suočio s drugim valom. Neke su na njega - zahvaljujući stečenom iskustvu - reagirale puno bolje nego tijekom prvog udara. Ispravile pogreške, stavile glave na kup, poduzele mjere koje su propustile poduzeti na početku. I izbjegle katastrofu.
Druge su, međutim, prvi val iskontrolirale „k'o od šale“. Pravi udarac zadao im je drugi val.
Japan je jedan od takvih primjera. Na Hokkaidu, otoku na sjeveru zemlje, novi koronavirus se pojavio već koncem siječnja. Na poznatom zimskom festivalu u Sapporu. Skulpture od leda promatrao je i veliki broj kineskih turista. Bili su praznici, lunarna nova godina tek što je otpočela.
Mjesec dana kasnije na Hokkaidu je proglašeno izvanredno stanje. Zatvorene su škole, tvrtke i restorani. Unatoč predanom radu epidemiologa, izoliranju kontakata i praćenju smjerova zaraze, ova je turistički orijentirana regija od 5 milijuna stanovnika imala najviše zaraženih u čitavom Japanu, njih 66.
Dva tjedna kasnije broj zaraženih je pao na jednog ili dvoje dnevno.
Tri tjedna kasnije izvanredno stanje je opozvano i život se polako počeo vraćati u normalu. Brzo nakon toga broj novozaraženih iz dana u dan je opet postao dvoznamenkast. Vlasti su odlučile ponovno proglasiti „lockdown“, ovaj put do 6. svibnja.
Singapur je također bio jedna od zemalja koje su svi hvalili zbog načina na koji su - brzo i efikasno - uspjeti stati u kraj koronavirusu. Sve dok ih nije pogodio drugi val. Početkom travnja epidemija je ponovno eksplodirala, a broj novih slučajeva u državi od 5,6 milijuna stanovnika na dnevnoj bazi raste za tisuću i četiristo.
Južna Koreja pronašla je dobar recept da izbjegne ponavljanje epidemije netom nakon što su se epidemije riješili. A recept se sastoji od jednog jedinog sastojka: masovnog testiranja.
Tamošnje vlasti su, ne želeći reprizu SARS-a, reagirale brzo, provele testiranje širokih razmjera i pedantno popisivale sve bliske kontakte zaraženih. Testiranja su se - zahvaljujući vlastitim tvornicama reagensa od kojih se rade testovi - vršila po kvartovima u mobilnim mini-laboratorijima. Zaraženi su detektirani, njihovi kontakti slani u samoizolaciju. Građani su pomoću mobilne aplikacije obavještavani svaki put kada se u njihovom susjedstvu pojavio netko novi pozitivan na koronavirus.
Prvi slučajevi zaraze koronavirusom u Južnoj Koreji pojavili su se praktički kada i u SAD-u i Velikoj Britaniji. Danas u SAD-u svakoga dana ima 25 tisuća novih slučajeva, u Velikoj Britaniji 5,8 tisuća, a u Južnoj Koreji njih - osam. Ne tisuća. Osam slučajeva.
Unatoč tome, tamošnje vlasti tvrde da priča s koronom nije gotova. I pripremaju zemlju za mogućnost pojave drugoga vala. Predviđaju da bi se on mogao dogoditi na jesen ili zimu.
A tada ništa ne žele prepustiti slučaju. Ne žele da im se dogodi ono što su u prvom valu tako uspješno izbjegli.
