Najmanje četiri osobe poginule su u požarima koji su zahvatili sredozemnu turističku regiju Antaliju i egejsko turističko odmorište Muğla. Tisuće turista evakuirane su iz svojih hotela. Satelitske snimke Europske službe za praćenje atmosfere Copernicus pokazale su da je intenzitet topline šumskih požara u Turskoj u četvrtak dosegnuo 20 gigavata, što je četiri puta više nego ikada zabilježeno u zemlji.

Zbog ekstremnih vrućina i suše Tursku je zahvatilo i desetak drugih požara. Turski 60-godišnji temperaturni rekord oboren je prethodni tjedan kada je Cizre, grad na jugoistoku zemlje, zabilježio 49,1 Celzijev stupanj. Stanovnici pogođenih područja novinarima su rekli da se ne sjećaju požara tog intenziteta. Jedan od njih, poljoprivrednik Ibrahim Aydin, rekao je da je izgubio svu stoku i zamalo poginuo u borbi s plamenom. "Sve što sam imao spaljeno je do temelja", ispričao je za turski dnevni list Daily Sabah. U cijeloj zemlji vatrogasci su se borili s više od 50 požara. Nekolicina je hospitalizirana.

Klimatske promjene

Nakon smrtonosnih požara u Kaliforniji i Sibiru te poplava u Europi i Kini prizori uništenja u Turskoj dodatno zabrinjavaju zbog sve većih ekstremnih vremenskih prilika. Kao rezultat klimatskih promjena, zemlje u razvoju su dosad podnosile najteži teret ekstremnih vremenskih nepogoda. Na Madagaskaru, primjerice, zbog najgore suše u posljednjih 40 godina prijeti glad za 400.000 stanovnika. No, ljeto 2021. pokazuje nam da više nigdje nije sigurno.

U lipnju je gradić u zapadnoj Kanadi nakratko postao najtoplije mjesto na Zemlji - prije nego što je uništen u požaru. Nekoliko dana nakon poplava u Europi kinesku pokrajinu Henan je zahvatila razorna poplava koja je potopila tunele podzemne željeznice i utopila putnike. Požari trenutačno pogađaju južnu Grčku te su na evakuaciju prisiljeni stanovnici sela u blizini lučkog grada Patrasa. Požari su se gasili i u Bugarskoj i Albaniji. Europska unija izdala je najveće upozorenje od opasnosti od požara u područjima Italije, Portugala, Španjolske i dijelovima sjeverne Afrike. Ovaj tjedan požari su uništili i velike dijelove borove šume sjeverno od Libanona, usmrtivši najmanje jednog vatrogasca i prisilivši stanovnike na bijeg. Trenutačno ne zahvaćaju samo južne zemlje Europe, nego i sjeverne. Vatrogasci u Finskoj bore se protiv najvećeg požara u posljednjih 50 godina. Ljetni mjeseci u toj su nordijskoj zemlji bili neuobičajeno suhi.

Klimatski znanstvenici već neko vrijeme predviđaju da će Mediteran biti teško pogođen porastom temperatura i promjenama oborina zbog emisija ugljičnog dioksida. Prema posljednjem izvješću UN-a o klimatskim promjenama, predviđa se da će se budući rizik od požara povećati u južnoj Europi. Svjetska meteorološka organizacija objavila je na Twitteru da ekstremne vrućine pogađaju širu mediteransku regiju, a predviđa se da će temperature porasti na više od 40 Celzijevih stupnjeva u unutrašnjosti Italije, Grčke, Tunisa i Turske. Zemlje su pozvane da se pripreme na sprečavanje zdravstvenih problema i problema s opskrbom vode.

Toplinski val u južnoj Europi zadržat će se i sljedeći tjedan. Turski meteorološki ured je za idući tjedan u Ankari i nekoliko drugih gradova predvidio temperature za 12 Celzijevih stupnjeva više od prosjeka u kolovozu. Upozorenja na visoke temperature su izdana u Sjevernoj Makedoniji, Albaniji, Bugarskoj te dijelovima Rumunjske i Srbije.

Štetni plinovi

Europski lideri poduzeli su mjere s ciljem smanjenja emisija štetnih plinova. U istom tjednu kad su poplave pogodile Belgiju i Njemačku, Europska komisija predstavila je svoj plan koji cilja da gospodarstva EU do 2030. uklone 55 posto emisija stakleničkih plinova u usporedbi s razinama iz 1991. godine.

No, pošto ugljični dioksid nakon ispuštanja u atmosferi luta najmanje 300 godina, ne dopuštajući time hlađenje Zemlje, očito je da je globalno zatopljenje dio budućnosti. Kako se približava klimatski summit UN-a u Glasgowu u studenome, izgledno je da će adaptacija na nestabilnu klimu biti jedna od bitnih tema.

Najmanje četiri osobe poginule su u požarima koji su zahvatili sredozemnu turističku regiju Antaliju i egejsko turističko odmorište Muğla. Tisuće turista evakuirane su iz svojih hotela. Satelitske snimke Europske službe za praćenje atmosfere Copernicus pokazale su da je intenzitet topline šumskih požara u Turskoj u četvrtak dosegnuo 20 gigavata, što je četiri puta više nego ikada zabilježeno u zemlji.

Zbog ekstremnih vrućina i suše Tursku je zahvatilo i desetak drugih požara. Turski 60-godišnji temperaturni rekord oboren je prethodni tjedan kada je Cizre, grad na jugoistoku zemlje, zabilježio 49,1 Celzijev stupanj. Stanovnici pogođenih područja novinarima su rekli da se ne sjećaju požara tog intenziteta. Jedan od njih, poljoprivrednik Ibrahim Aydin, rekao je da je izgubio svu stoku i zamalo poginuo u borbi s plamenom. "Sve što sam imao spaljeno je do temelja", ispričao je za turski dnevni list Daily Sabah. U cijeloj zemlji vatrogasci su se borili s više od 50 požara. Nekolicina je hospitalizirana.

Klimatske promjene

Nakon smrtonosnih požara u Kaliforniji i Sibiru te poplava u Europi i Kini prizori uništenja u Turskoj dodatno zabrinjavaju zbog sve većih ekstremnih vremenskih prilika. Kao rezultat klimatskih promjena, zemlje u razvoju su dosad podnosile najteži teret ekstremnih vremenskih nepogoda. Na Madagaskaru, primjerice, zbog najgore suše u posljednjih 40 godina prijeti glad za 400.000 stanovnika. No, ljeto 2021. pokazuje nam da više nigdje nije sigurno.

U lipnju je gradić u zapadnoj Kanadi nakratko postao najtoplije mjesto na Zemlji - prije nego što je uništen u požaru. Nekoliko dana nakon poplava u Europi kinesku pokrajinu Henan je zahvatila razorna poplava koja je potopila tunele podzemne željeznice i utopila putnike. Požari trenutačno pogađaju južnu Grčku te su na evakuaciju prisiljeni stanovnici sela u blizini lučkog grada Patrasa. Požari su se gasili i u Bugarskoj i Albaniji. Europska unija izdala je najveće upozorenje od opasnosti od požara u područjima Italije, Portugala, Španjolske i dijelovima sjeverne Afrike. Ovaj tjedan požari su uništili i velike dijelove borove šume sjeverno od Libanona, usmrtivši najmanje jednog vatrogasca i prisilivši stanovnike na bijeg. Trenutačno ne zahvaćaju samo južne zemlje Europe, nego i sjeverne. Vatrogasci u Finskoj bore se protiv najvećeg požara u posljednjih 50 godina. Ljetni mjeseci u toj su nordijskoj zemlji bili neuobičajeno suhi.

Klimatski znanstvenici već neko vrijeme predviđaju da će Mediteran biti teško pogođen porastom temperatura i promjenama oborina zbog emisija ugljičnog dioksida. Prema posljednjem izvješću UN-a o klimatskim promjenama, predviđa se da će se budući rizik od požara povećati u južnoj Europi. Svjetska meteorološka organizacija objavila je na Twitteru da ekstremne vrućine pogađaju širu mediteransku regiju, a predviđa se da će temperature porasti na više od 40 Celzijevih stupnjeva u unutrašnjosti Italije, Grčke, Tunisa i Turske. Zemlje su pozvane da se pripreme na sprečavanje zdravstvenih problema i problema s opskrbom vode.

Toplinski val u južnoj Europi zadržat će se i sljedeći tjedan. Turski meteorološki ured je za idući tjedan u Ankari i nekoliko drugih gradova predvidio temperature za 12 Celzijevih stupnjeva više od prosjeka u kolovozu. Upozorenja na visoke temperature su izdana u Sjevernoj Makedoniji, Albaniji, Bugarskoj te dijelovima Rumunjske i Srbije.

Štetni plinovi

Europski lideri poduzeli su mjere s ciljem smanjenja emisija štetnih plinova. U istom tjednu kad su poplave pogodile Belgiju i Njemačku, Europska komisija predstavila je svoj plan koji cilja da gospodarstva EU do 2030. uklone 55 posto emisija stakleničkih plinova u usporedbi s razinama iz 1991. godine.

No, pošto ugljični dioksid nakon ispuštanja u atmosferi luta najmanje 300 godina, ne dopuštajući time hlađenje Zemlje, očito je da je globalno zatopljenje dio budućnosti. Kako se približava klimatski summit UN-a u Glasgowu u studenome, izgledno je da će adaptacija na nestabilnu klimu biti jedna od bitnih tema.
