Sjedinjene Američke Države i njeni saveznici pripremaju se za potencijalno devastirajući odgovor jemenskih Huta, piše Newsweek.

Nakon što su iz Zapovjedništva američkih zračnih snaga za Bliski istok priopćili kako su u četvrtak navečer napali više od 60 ciljeva na 16 lokacija u Jemenu, uključujući "glavne točke zapovijedanja i kontrole, skladišta streljiva, sustave za lansiranje, proizvodna postrojenja i radarske sustave protuzračne obrane", visoki dužnosnik ministarstva obrane SAD-a novinarima je poručio:

"Ovo je bila značajna akcija i provedena je s očekivanjima kako će značajno degradirati sposobnost Huta da pokrenu onakve napade kakve su izvodili posljednjih tjedana."

No Jemenska militantna skupina, znana kao Huti, koja je od 2014. u ratu s jemenskom vladom, zaklela se da će uzvratiti udarac.

- Nemam razloga ne vjerovati njihovim prijetnjama. Ne mislim da blefiraju. Huti će odgovoriti Amerikancima. Vide priliku u obračunu s najmoćnijom nacijom svijeta. Shvaćamo da vojni odgovor Zapada neće uspjeti. To je riskantan potez i imat će posljedice. Ipak, još uvijek se osjećamo prisiljeni, zbog političkih, ali i strateških razloga, stajati iza te strategije - rekao je Newsweeku Bilal Saab, viši suradnik u think tanku Middle East Institute u Washingtonu, D.C., i direktor njegova obrambenog i sigurnosnog programa.

Među njihovim balističkim projektilima su Shahab 3, s dometom od preko 1300 kilometara i Ghadar, čiji domet doseže 2100 kilometara. Projektilima Shahab 3 Huti mogu pogoditi veći dio Saudijske Arabije, UAE i Katara, dok Ghadari mogu stići do Izraela i Iraka.

U dometu projektila su i američki strateški objekti, poput zračne baze Al Udeid u Kataru, mornaričke baze Naval Support Activity u Bahreinu i kampa Arifjan u Kuvajtu. Huti također jačaju svoj arsenal protubrodskih balističkih projektila, a zahvaljujući iranskim sustavima mogu pogoditi ciljeve udaljene i više od 800 kilometara.

Ako Huti uzvrate udarac, kako se očekuje, SAD i njegovi saveznici mogli bi se naći u dugoj bitci.

- Bojim se da smo ušli u stršljenovo gnijezdo. U slučaju da Huti odgovore na napade, Amerikanci moraju biti spremni za kontinuirane napade. Ako napadnu Hute, ne mogu to učiniti samo jednom, time bi signalizirali slabost saveznika. Huti doista imaju koristi od sukoba s Amerikancima iz raznih razloga. Sjedinjene Američke Države i njeni saveznici pripremaju se za potencijalno devastirajući odgovor jemenskih Huta, piše Newsweek.

Nakon što su iz Zapovjedništva američkih zračnih snaga za Bliski istok priopćili kako su u četvrtak navečer napali više od 60 ciljeva na 16 lokacija u Jemenu, uključujući "glavne točke zapovijedanja i kontrole, skladišta streljiva, sustave za lansiranje, proizvodna postrojenja i radarske sustave protuzračne obrane", visoki dužnosnik ministarstva obrane SAD-a novinarima je poručio:

"Ovo je bila značajna akcija i provedena je s očekivanjima kako će značajno degradirati sposobnost Huta da pokrenu onakve napade kakve su izvodili posljednjih tjedana."

No Jemenska militantna skupina, znana kao Huti, koja je od 2014. u ratu s jemenskom vladom, zaklela se da će uzvratiti udarac.

- Na svaki udar protiv nas odgovorit ćemo bez imalo sumnje, svom svojom snagom i odlučnošću, a regija će se naći u sukobu kojem nitko ne zna kraj, upozorio je nakon američkih napada u četvrtak Nasreddin Amer, zamjenik tajnika za informiranje skupine Ansar Allah, što je službeni naziv za Hutije.

- Nemam razloga ne vjerovati njihovim prijetnjama. Ne mislim da blefiraju. Huti će odgovoriti Amerikancima. Vide priliku u obračunu s najmoćnijom nacijom svijeta. Shvaćamo da vojni odgovor Zapada neće uspjeti. To je riskantan potez i imat će posljedice. Ipak, još uvijek se osjećamo prisiljeni, zbog političkih, ali i strateških razloga, stajati iza te strategije - rekao je Newsweeku Bilal Saab, viši suradnik u think tanku Middle East Institute u Washingtonu, D.C., i direktor njegova obrambenog i sigurnosnog programa.

- No, isto tako ne mislim da je stajati prekriženih ruku dobar odabir. Zapravo svaka opcija koja je predstavljena predsjedniku Joeu Bidenu bila je loša. Pitanje je samo kako odabrati najmanje lošu opciju - dodao je Saab.

Huti raspolažu s oko 20.000 boraca i zastrašujućim arsenalom balističkih projektila i bespilotnih letjelica.
