Znanstveni tim Laboratorija za naprednu genomiku Instituta Ruđer Bošković (IRB), pod vodstvom dr.sc. Olivera Vugreka, identificirao je prisutnost mutacije brazilskog soja u Hrvatskoj.
Od ukupno 50 analiziranih uzoraka, u jednom uzorku potvrđena je mutacija u proteinu šiljku (spike) na položaju E484K koji je utvrđen kod brazilskog soja koronavirusa, odnosno varijanti B.1.1.28, priopćili su u četvrtak. Uzorci su prikupljeni u Zagrebu, Čakovcu i Osijeku i analizirani su tijekom prosinca 2020., te siječnja i veljače 2021. godine. Mutacija brazilskog soja potvrđena je na uzorku iz Zagreba, koji je uzorkovan 30. siječnja 2021.
O tome je za N1 govorio Oliver Vugrek.
- Radili smo određivanje slijeda virusne RNA poput dešifriranja otiska virusnog soja. Naišli smo na varijantu prisutnu u brazilskom, južnoafričkom i britanskom soju. Ta varijanta koju smo detektirali, prisutna je kod jednog pacijenta koji se ponovno zarazio koronom u roku od tri mjeseca. Zato je to pod povećalom, vidjet ćemo točno o čemu se radi. Virus stalno stječe nove mutacije, na nama je da ih pratimo - objasnio je znanstvenik.
Na pitanje što znamo o mutacijama, rekao je:
- Nema indikacija da se ova mutacija brže širi. Mutacije su spontana pojava jer virus se ne replicira savršeno, nego uz greške. On tako stječe nove sposobnosti kako bi bio efikasniji u zarazi, to je prirodni proces i ništa neobično.

Vugrek je komentirao i učinkovitost cjepiva:
- Cjepivo će i dalje djelovati unatoč novim varijantama, tu nema bojazni. Cjepiva su raznolika, to će nam dati zaštitu da ne razvijemo najteže simptome i zaštitit će od smrtnog ishoda. Slijedi analiza cjelokupnog genoma virusa da vidimo odakle je došao, radi li se o hrvatskoj varijanti, koja nije importirana. Za desetak dana, dva tjedna ćemo imati više informacija o kojem se konkretno soju radi. Možda je hrvatski koji je spontano nastao u našim krajevima, ništa ne isključujemo - napomenuo je.
Vugrek je kazao i da je puno nepoznanica što se tiče mutacija i puno faktora koji utječu na njih:
- Možda je to odgovor virusa na obrambeni mehanizam domaćina. To je slučajna pojava.
Na pitanje imaju li dovoljno sredstava za sekvencioniranje, Vugrek za N1 odgovara:
- U fazi su pregovori kako to uspostaviti na nacionalnoj razini. Mislim da Stožer ima najviše informacija. Nešto radimo iz vlastitih sredstava laboratorija, ali nadam se da će se to objediniti na nacionalnoj razini.

Znanstveni tim Laboratorija za naprednu genomiku Instituta Ruđer Bošković (IRB), pod vodstvom dr.sc. Olivera Vugreka, identificirao je prisutnost mutacije brazilskog soja u Hrvatskoj.
Od ukupno 50 analiziranih uzoraka, u jednom uzorku potvrđena je mutacija u proteinu šiljku (spike) na položaju E484K koji je utvrđen kod brazilskog soja koronavirusa, odnosno varijanti B.1.1.28, priopćili su u četvrtak. Uzorci su prikupljeni u Zagrebu, Čakovcu i Osijeku i analizirani su tijekom prosinca 2020., te siječnja i veljače 2021. godine. Mutacija brazilskog soja potvrđena je na uzorku iz Zagreba, koji je uzorkovan 30. siječnja 2021.
O tome je za N1 govorio Oliver Vugrek.
- Radili smo određivanje slijeda virusne RNA poput dešifriranja otiska virusnog soja. Naišli smo na varijantu prisutnu u brazilskom, južnoafričkom i britanskom soju. Ta varijanta koju smo detektirali, prisutna je kod jednog pacijenta koji se ponovno zarazio koronom u roku od tri mjeseca. Zato je to pod povećalom, vidjet ćemo točno o čemu se radi. Virus stalno stječe nove mutacije, na nama je da ih pratimo - objasnio je znanstvenik.

- Nema indikacija da se ova mutacija brže širi. Mutacije su spontana pojava jer virus se ne replicira savršeno, nego uz greške. On tako stječe nove sposobnosti kako bi bio efikasniji u zarazi, to je prirodni proces i ništa neobično.

Vugrek je komentirao i učinkovitost cjepiva:
- Cjepivo će i dalje djelovati unatoč novim varijantama, tu nema bojazni. Cjepiva su raznolika, to će nam dati zaštitu da ne razvijemo najteže simptome i zaštitit će od smrtnog ishoda. Slijedi analiza cjelokupnog genoma virusa da vidimo odakle je došao, radi li se o hrvatskoj varijanti, koja nije importirana. Za desetak dana, dva tjedna ćemo imati više informacija o kojem se konkretno soju radi. Možda je hrvatski koji je spontano nastao u našim krajevima, ništa ne isključujemo - napomenuo je.
Vugrek je kazao i da je puno nepoznanica što se tiče mutacija i puno faktora koji utječu na njih:
- Možda je to odgovor virusa na obrambeni mehanizam domaćina. To je slučajna pojava.
Na pitanje imaju li dovoljno sredstava za sekvencioniranje, Vugrek za N1 odgovara:
- U fazi su pregovori kako to uspostaviti na nacionalnoj razini. Mislim da Stožer ima najviše informacija. Nešto radimo iz vlastitih sredstava laboratorija, ali nadam se da će se to objediniti na nacionalnoj razini.
