Hrvatsku reprezentaciju je jedan set dijelio od pobjede nad favoriziranom američkom reprezentacijom, ali je taj, nažalost, otišao na stranu Austina Krajiceka i Rajeeva Rama koji su dokazali da su u vrhunskoj formi i pobjedom nad Ivanom Dodigom i Matom Pavićem sa 7-6 (5), 6-7 (3), 6-2 donijeli prvo slavlje svojoj reprezentaciji u srazovima s Hrvatima u Davis Cupu.   

Izbornik Vedran Martić imao je dvojake osjećaje, znao je koliko blizu su njegovi izabranici bili velikoj pobjedi.

"Cilj nam je bio da nakon pojedinačnih mečeva bude 1-1. Dino je imao zahtijevnog protivnika. McDonald je odigrao jako dobro. Nisam vidio da se Dino uplašio. Zapravo, bio je ljut što gubi. Pokazao je pobjednički stav. Gojo je još jednom pokazao da je u Davis Cupu na vrhunskom nivou. Odigrao je meč kako treba, kako smo dogovorili, servirao je odlično. U parovima su prva dva seta bila vrhunska. U trećem setu su oni pogodili nekoliko reterna i dobili meč", analizirao je Martić te dodao:

"Ja sam nezadovoljan što smo izgubili, ali imali smo zahtjevnog protivnika. Ne mogu igračima ništa predbaciti, borili su se kao lavovi."

Sličnog su raspoloženja bili Ivan Dodig i Mate Pavić. Zadovoljni načinom na koji su igrali, a nesretni zbog još jednog zajedničkog poraza u Davis Cupu.

"U prvom setu smo imali male prilike. Ja sam napravio jednu pogrešku koja nas je vjerojatno koštala seta. U drugom smo se vratili. U trećem smo malo pali u jednom gemu i oni su to iskoristili. Na kraju se svelo na to. Igrali su vrhunski. Tako je to u parovima. Nije ni prvi, ni zadnji put. Izgubili smo meč, ali i dalje imamo dobre šanse za proći skupinu. Vrijeme je da i ja Mate dobijemo meč. To će nam biti motivacija za sljedeći", rekao je Ivan Dodig.

"Ako ćemo igrati kao danas, mislim da će to biti dovoljno za pobjedu u drugim mečevima. Amerikanci su sjajno servirali. Pokazali su zašto su prvi i peti na svijetu. Puni su samopouzdanja. Osobno sam jako zadovoljan kako smo igrali. Bili smo bolji kroz prvi set, ali su u ključnim trenucima odigrali bolje, spretnije. Servirali su sva tri seta fenomenalno. Kad god smo ih stavili pod pritisak, oni su odgovorili", izjavio je Mate Pavić koji s optimizmom gleda na sljedeće mečeve i izglede Hrvatske za plasman u četvrtfinale. 

“Gojo ima odličnu sezonu, već je više puta pokazao da može odigrati vrhunski. Pred njim su još dva jako teška meča, jer i Finci i Nizozemci imaju odlične igrače. Ako je mogao danas pobijediti, ne vidim zašto ne bi mogao protiv njih. I u Bologni smo izgubili prvi meč, i to 0-3 od Talijana, pa smo se kvalificirali."

Osim poraza, Matu su rastužile i poluprazne tribine na Gripama.

"Ja jesam kao dijete Splita malo razočaran. Šteta što nije bilo ni blizu puno. Oni koji su bili, napravili su dobru atmosferu. Nadam se da će biti bolje u petak i nedjelju."

Hrvatsku reprezentaciju je jedan set dijelio od pobjede nad favoriziranom američkom reprezentacijom, ali je taj, nažalost, otišao na stranu Austina Krajiceka i Rajeeva Rama koji su dokazali da su u vrhunskoj formi i pobjedom nad Ivanom Dodigom i Matom Pavićem sa 7-6 (5), 6-7 (3), 6-2 donijeli prvo slavlje svojoj reprezentaciji u srazovima s Hrvatima u Davis Cupu.   

Izbornik Vedran Martić imao je dvojake osjećaje, znao je koliko blizu su njegovi izabranici bili velikoj pobjedi.

"Cilj nam je bio da nakon pojedinačnih mečeva bude 1-1. Dino je imao zahtijevnog protivnika. McDonald je odigrao jako dobro. Nisam vidio da se Dino uplašio. Zapravo, bio je ljut što gubi. Pokazao je pobjednički stav. Gojo je još jednom pokazao da je u Davis Cupu na vrhunskom nivou. Odigrao je meč kako treba, kako smo dogovorili, servirao je odlično. U parovima su prva dva seta bila vrhunska. U trećem setu su oni pogodili nekoliko reterna i dobili meč", analizirao je Martić te dodao:

"Ja sam nezadovoljan što smo izgubili, ali imali smo zahtjevnog protivnika. Ne mogu igračima ništa predbaciti, borili su se kao lavovi."

Sličnog su raspoloženja bili Ivan Dodig i Mate Pavić. Zadovoljni načinom na koji su igrali, a nesretni zbog još jednog zajedničkog poraza u Davis Cupu.

"U prvom setu smo imali male prilike. Ja sam napravio jednu pogrešku koja nas je vjerojatno koštala seta. U drugom smo se vratili. U trećem smo malo pali u jednom gemu i oni su to iskoristili. Na kraju se svelo na to. Igrali su vrhunski. Tako je to u parovima. Nije ni prvi, ni zadnji put. Izgubili smo meč, ali i dalje imamo dobre šanse za proći skupinu. Vrijeme je da i ja Mate dobijemo meč. To će nam biti motivacija za sljedeći", rekao je Ivan Dodig.

"Ako ćemo igrati kao danas, mislim da će to biti dovoljno za pobjedu u drugim mečevima. Amerikanci su sjajno servirali. Pokazali su zašto su prvi i peti na svijetu. Puni su samopouzdanja. Osobno sam jako zadovoljan kako smo igrali. Bili smo bolji kroz prvi set, ali su u ključnim trenucima odigrali bolje, spretnije. Servirali su sva tri seta fenomenalno. Kad god smo ih stavili pod pritisak, oni su odgovorili", izjavio je Mate Pavić koji s optimizmom gleda na sljedeće mečeve i izglede Hrvatske za plasman u četvrtfinale. 

“Gojo ima odličnu sezonu, već je više puta pokazao da može odigrati vrhunski. Pred njim su još dva jako teška meča, jer i Finci i Nizozemci imaju odlične igrače. Ako je mogao danas pobijediti, ne vidim zašto ne bi mogao protiv njih. I u Bologni smo izgubili prvi meč, i to 0-3 od Talijana, pa smo se kvalificirali."

Osim poraza, Matu su rastužile i poluprazne tribine na Gripama.

"Ja jesam kao dijete Splita malo razočaran. Šteta što nije bilo ni blizu puno. Oni koji su bili, napravili su dobru atmosferu. Nadam se da će biti bolje u petak i nedjelju."
