Teniska reprezentacija Finske prvi put u povijesti igrat će u četvrtfinalu Davis Cupa nakon što su Otto Virtanen i Emil Ruusuvuori u pojedinačnim dvobojima svladali američke reprezentativce Mackenzieja McDonalda i Tommyja Paula te tako osigurali pobjedu svojoj reprezentaciji.

Kako je Tommy Paul krenuo u meč protiv Emila Ruusuvuorija, činilo se da je Bob Bryan povukao pravi potez kad je na klupi ostavio svog nominalno najboljeg igrača Francesa Tiafoea. Američki tenisač je u prvom setu vodio 5-2 i imao set-loptu na servis Finca. Ruusuvuori se, međutim, izvukao i krenuo u preokret. Odveo je prvi set do ‘tie-breaka‘ u kojem je ostavio Paula na samo jednom osvojenom poenu.

Ruusuvuori je potom u maratonskom osmom gemu drugog seta po drugi put u meču slomio Paulov servis te poveo 5-3. Kad je trebao zaključiti meč, propustio je tri meč-lopte i dopustio Amerikancu da vrati izgubljeno. No, kad je trebao izjednačiti na 5-5, Paul je na servisu ostao bez ijednog poena.

Na finskom dijelu tribina nastala je neopisiva radost među nekoliko stotina navijača reprezentacije kojoj je dosadašnji najveći uspjeh postigla time što se plasirana u grupnu fazu završnice Davis Cupa. Pobijedivši prvog favorita splitskog turnira Finci su po prvi put došli do nokaut faze i s nestrpljenjem će čekati ždrijeb koji će biti održan u utorak, a na kojem će za suparnika u četvrtfinalu dobiti branitelja naslova Kanadu ili Češku, pobjedničke reprezentacije iz skupina A i C.

Uz Finsku, iz skupine D se u četvrtfinale kvalificirala reprezentacija Nizozemske kao pobjednik skupine. Nizozemcima je potencijalni suparnik u četvrtfinalu reprezentacija Srbije te drugoplasirana momčad iz skupine A, a to će najvjerojatnije biti Italija.

Reprezentacijama Hrvatske i SAD-a ostaje čekati završni dan finalnog turnira u Malagi, kad će biti održan ždrijeb kvalifikacijskim mečeva za plasman u Davis Cup završnicu za 2024.

Hrvatska reprezentacija će u nedjelju u Splitu još odigrati dvoboj protiv Nizozemaca, a prema najavama iz našeg tabora, u pojedinačnim dvobojima će priliku dobiti mlade snage, Dino Prižmić i Duje Ajduković koji bi trebao debitirati u Davis Cupu.

Teniska reprezentacija Finske prvi put u povijesti igrat će u četvrtfinalu Davis Cupa nakon što su Otto Virtanen i Emil Ruusuvuori u pojedinačnim dvobojima svladali američke reprezentativce Mackenzieja McDonalda i Tommyja Paula te tako osigurali pobjedu svojoj reprezentaciji.

Kako je Tommy Paul krenuo u meč protiv Emila Ruusuvuorija, činilo se da je Bob Bryan povukao pravi potez kad je na klupi ostavio svog nominalno najboljeg igrača Francesa Tiafoea. Američki tenisač je u prvom setu vodio 5-2 i imao set-loptu na servis Finca. Ruusuvuori se, međutim, izvukao i krenuo u preokret. Odveo je prvi set do ‘tie-breaka‘ u kojem je ostavio Paula na samo jednom osvojenom poenu.

Ruusuvuori je potom u maratonskom osmom gemu drugog seta po drugi put u meču slomio Paulov servis te poveo 5-3. Kad je trebao zaključiti meč, propustio je tri meč-lopte i dopustio Amerikancu da vrati izgubljeno. No, kad je trebao izjednačiti na 5-5, Paul je na servisu ostao bez ijednog poena.

Na finskom dijelu tribina nastala je neopisiva radost među nekoliko stotina navijača reprezentacije kojoj je dosadašnji najveći uspjeh postigla time što se plasirana u grupnu fazu završnice Davis Cupa. Pobijedivši prvog favorita splitskog turnira Finci su po prvi put došli do nokaut faze i s nestrpljenjem će čekati ždrijeb koji će biti održan u utorak, a na kojem će za suparnika u četvrtfinalu dobiti branitelja naslova Kanadu ili Češku, pobjedničke reprezentacije iz skupina A i C.

Uz Finsku, iz skupine D se u četvrtfinale kvalificirala reprezentacija Nizozemske kao pobjednik skupine. Nizozemcima je potencijalni suparnik u četvrtfinalu reprezentacija Srbije te drugoplasirana momčad iz skupine A, a to će najvjerojatnije biti Italija.

Reprezentacijama Hrvatske i SAD-a ostaje čekati završni dan finalnog turnira u Malagi, kad će biti održan ždrijeb kvalifikacijskim mečeva za plasman u Davis Cup završnicu za 2024.

Hrvatska reprezentacija će u nedjelju u Splitu još odigrati dvoboj protiv Nizozemaca, a prema najavama iz našeg tabora, u pojedinačnim dvobojima će priliku dobiti mlade snage, Dino Prižmić i Duje Ajduković koji bi trebao debitirati u Davis Cupu.

Finska slavi u Splitu, navijači oduševljeni, prvi put u povijesti igrat će u četvrtfinalu Davis Cupa

Teniska reprezentacija Finske prvi put u povijesti igrat će u četvrtfinalu Davis Cupa nakon što su Otto Virtanen i Emil Ruusuvuori u pojedinačnim dvobojima svladali američke reprezentativce Mackenzieja McDonalda i Tommyja Paula te tako osigurali pobjedu svojoj reprezentaciji.

Kako je Tommy Paul krenuo u meč protiv Emila Ruusuvuorija, činilo se da je Bob Bryan povukao pravi potez kad je na klupi ostavio svog nominalno najboljeg igrača Francesa Tiafoea. Američki tenisač je u prvom setu vodio 5-2 i imao set-loptu na servis Finca. Ruusuvuori se, međutim, izvukao i krenuo u preokret. Odveo je prvi set do ‘tie-breaka‘ u kojem je ostavio Paula na samo jednom osvojenom poenu.

Ruusuvuori je potom u maratonskom osmom gemu drugog seta po drugi put u meču slomio Paulov servis te poveo 5-3. Kad je trebao zaključiti meč, propustio je tri meč-lopte i dopustio Amerikancu da vrati izgubljeno. No, kad je trebao izjednačiti na 5-5, Paul je na servisu ostao bez ijednog poena.

Na finskom dijelu tribina nastala je neopisiva radost među nekoliko stotina navijača reprezentacije kojoj je dosadašnji najveći uspjeh postigla time što se plasirana u grupnu fazu završnice Davis Cupa. Pobijedivši prvog favorita splitskog turnira Finci su po prvi put došli do nokaut faze i s nestrpljenjem će čekati ždrijeb koji će biti održan u utorak, a na kojem će za suparnika u četvrtfinalu dobiti branitelja naslova Kanadu ili Češku, pobjedničke reprezentacije iz skupina A i C.

Uz Finsku, iz skupine D se u četvrtfinale kvalificirala reprezentacija Nizozemske kao pobjednik skupine. Nizozemcima je potencijalni suparnik u četvrtfinalu reprezentacija Srbije te drugoplasirana momčad iz skupine A, a to će najvjerojatnije biti Italija.

Reprezentacijama Hrvatske i SAD-a ostaje čekati završni dan finalnog turnira u Malagi, kad će biti održan ždrijeb kvalifikacijskim mečeva za plasman u Davis Cup završnicu za 2024.

Hrvatska reprezentacija će u nedjelju u Splitu još odigrati dvoboj protiv Nizozemaca, a prema najavama iz našeg tabora, u pojedinačnim dvobojima će priliku dobiti mlade snage, Dino Prižmić i Duje Ajduković koji bi trebao debitirati u Davis Cupu.
