Igrač s najviše nastupa u povijesti belgijske reprezentacije Jan Vertonghen, gostujući u podcastu ‘Mid Mid‘, otvorio je dušu o potresnim trenutcima kroz koje je prolazio i s kojima javnost do sada nije bila upoznata.

Koban trenutak za Belgijca dogodio se 30. travnja 2019. kada je s Tottenhamom u polufinalu Lige prvaka igrao protiv svog bivšeg kluba Ajaxa. U sudaru sa suigračem Tobyjem Alderweireldom i protivničkim golmanom Andréom Onanom, Vertonghen je zaradio potres mozga. Iako je na prvu vraćen na teren, nakon 39 minuta igre omamljen je napustio igru, pišu Sportske novosti.

- Dobro se sjećam da se prije te utakmice nisam osjećao na 100 posto. Mnogo toga se dogodilo u to vrijeme. Kombinacija tog ogromnog udarca i lošeg osjećaja značila je da ću patiti još devet mjeseci. Bio sam tako drhtav na nogama u uzvratnoj utakmici tjedan dana kasnije - rekao je Vertonghen za ‘Mid Mid‘.

Iako je Tottenham na kraju prošao u finale Lige prvaka, Vertonghen je cijeli proces nazvao "čistim preživljavanjem".

- Cijelo finale sam odbrojavao do 90. minute. Na povratku u hotel zaspao sam u autobusu za igrače. Osjećao sam se jako loše tijekom tog razdoblja. Brzo je uspostavljena poveznica sa sudarom s Alderweireldom i Onanom. Bio sam kod gotovo svih specijalista, ali nisam našao nikakvo objašnjenje. Nisam mogao u restoran. Probao sam jednom i morao sam otići nakon deset minuta. Nisam podnosio gužvu, zaspao bih bilo gdje. Osjećao sam da tu ima nešto više i nastavio sam pričati o tome. Sada sam uvjeren da je to bio mentalno-psihološki problem. Sada kada vidim fotografije iz tog vremena, odmah vidim da nešto nije u redu. Oči su mi izgledale drugačije. Također, često sam se osjećao depresivno - objasnio je sadašnji igrač Anderlechta probleme s kojim se suočavao u tom razdoblju.

Sve je bilo vrlo čudno. U to vrijeme nisam shvaćao da bih mogao imati psihički problem

Unatoč svemu, Vertonghen je nastavio igrati nogomet. Pretrage su pokazale da nema nikakvih fizičkih problema. Pravi problemi nalazili su se u glavi, što je utjecalo i na njegove izvedbe na terenu.

- Igrao sam jako loše utakmice te godine. Norwich i Chelsea u gostima, to su utakmice kojih se jako dobro sjećam. Vidio bih Mourinha, tadašnjeg trenera Tottenhama, koji bi me na poluvremenu gledao s pogledom ‘ostani unutra‘, a htio sam biti zamijenjen. Sve je bilo vrlo čudno. U to vrijeme nisam shvaćao da bih mogao imati psihički problem - nadovezao se Belgijac i istaknuo da je tek nakon razgovora s psihologom dobio uvid u svoj problem.

- Tada sam se uvjerio da se događa nešto više od tog udarca. Ali još uvijek nemam pojma što. Je li to bio pritisak? Usput, još uvijek se bojim da će se to vratiti. Određeni neuspjesi u životu vrlo me lako psihičku dotuku. To se dogodilo u tom razdoblju i nastavilo se događati tijekom mog vremena u Benfici.

Ipak, za Vertonghena su se stvari neočekivano popravile tijekom pandemije korone. U periodu kada je većina ljudi počela obolijevati od depresije, Belgijac je uspio pronaći svoj mir i oporaviti se.

- To je bilo moje spasenje. Tu su se stvari preokrenule. Osjećam se odlično već dvije godine, ali od tada sam na oprezu. Sada uglavnom radim ono što volim. To je luksuz koji imam, ali sam istovremeno svjestan što takvi problemi mogu značiti za ljude - zaključio je Vertonghen.

Igrač s najviše nastupa u povijesti belgijske reprezentacije Jan Vertonghen, gostujući u podcastu ‘Mid Mid‘, otvorio je dušu o potresnim trenutcima kroz koje je prolazio i s kojima javnost do sada nije bila upoznata.

Koban trenutak za Belgijca dogodio se 30. travnja 2019. kada je s Tottenhamom u polufinalu Lige prvaka igrao protiv svog bivšeg kluba Ajaxa. U sudaru sa suigračem Tobyjem Alderweireldom i protivničkim golmanom Andréom Onanom, Vertonghen je zaradio potres mozga. Iako je na prvu vraćen na teren, nakon 39 minuta igre omamljen je napustio igru, pišu Sportske novosti.

- Dobro se sjećam da se prije te utakmice nisam osjećao na 100 posto. Mnogo toga se dogodilo u to vrijeme. Kombinacija tog ogromnog udarca i lošeg osjećaja značila je da ću patiti još devet mjeseci. Bio sam tako drhtav na nogama u uzvratnoj utakmici tjedan dana kasnije - rekao je Vertonghen za ‘Mid Mid‘.

Iako je Tottenham na kraju prošao u finale Lige prvaka, Vertonghen je cijeli proces nazvao "čistim preživljavanjem".

- Cijelo finale sam odbrojavao do 90. minute. Na povratku u hotel zaspao sam u autobusu za igrače. Osjećao sam se jako loše tijekom tog razdoblja. Brzo je uspostavljena poveznica sa sudarom s Alderweireldom i Onanom. Bio sam kod gotovo svih specijalista, ali nisam našao nikakvo objašnjenje. Nisam mogao u restoran. Probao sam jednom i morao sam otići nakon deset minuta. Nisam podnosio gužvu, zaspao bih bilo gdje. Osjećao sam da tu ima nešto više i nastavio sam pričati o tome. Sada sam uvjeren da je to bio mentalno-psihološki problem. Sada kada vidim fotografije iz tog vremena, odmah vidim da nešto nije u redu. Oči su mi izgledale drugačije. Također, često sam se osjećao depresivno - objasnio je sadašnji igrač Anderlechta probleme s kojim se suočavao u tom razdoblju.

Sve je bilo vrlo čudno. U to vrijeme nisam shvaćao da bih mogao imati psihički problem

Unatoč svemu, Vertonghen je nastavio igrati nogomet. Pretrage su pokazale da nema nikakvih fizičkih problema. Pravi problemi nalazili su se u glavi, što je utjecalo i na njegove izvedbe na terenu.

- Igrao sam jako loše utakmice te godine. Norwich i Chelsea u gostima, to su utakmice kojih se jako dobro sjećam. Vidio bih Mourinha, tadašnjeg trenera Tottenhama, koji bi me na poluvremenu gledao s pogledom ‘ostani unutra‘, a htio sam biti zamijenjen. Sve je bilo vrlo čudno. U to vrijeme nisam shvaćao da bih mogao imati psihički problem - nadovezao se Belgijac i istaknuo da je tek nakon razgovora s psihologom dobio uvid u svoj problem.

- Tada sam se uvjerio da se događa nešto više od tog udarca. Ali još uvijek nemam pojma što. Je li to bio pritisak? Usput, još uvijek se bojim da će se to vratiti. Određeni neuspjesi u životu vrlo me lako psihičku dotuku. To se dogodilo u tom razdoblju i nastavilo se događati tijekom mog vremena u Benfici.

Ipak, za Vertonghena su se stvari neočekivano popravile tijekom pandemije korone. U periodu kada je većina ljudi počela obolijevati od depresije, Belgijac je uspio pronaći svoj mir i oporaviti se.

- To je bilo moje spasenje. Tu su se stvari preokrenule. Osjećam se odlično već dvije godine, ali od tada sam na oprezu. Sada uglavnom radim ono što volim. To je luksuz koji imam, ali sam istovremeno svjestan što takvi problemi mogu značiti za ljude - zaključio je Vertonghen.
