Svijet sporta je trenutačno u mirovanju i iščkekivanju. Olimpijske igre, europsko nogometno prvenstvo i brojna druga natjecanja su odgođena ili prekinuta zbog pandemije koronavirusa.
Skoro milijarda ljudi diljem svijeta ograničena je na boravak u svojim domovima kako bi se obuzdao koronavirus koji je do sada odnio više od 18.000 života.
Pandemija koronavirusa potpuno je poremetila živote ljudi diljem planeta ograničavanjem kretanja, zatvaranjem škola i sveučilišta te zabranom javnog okupljanja, a milijuni ljudi su primorani raditi od kuće. Na udaru se našao i sport. Praktički sva sporta borilišta su utihnula.
Nažalost, ovo nije prvi put da je pandemija utjecala na sport. Svako je nagora, a posve sigurno neće biti niti posljednja.
Koncem 2002. godine u Kini se pojavio SARS, teška respiratorna febrilna bolest izazvana corona virusom. Tijekom epidemije SARS-a zabilježeno je 774 smrtnih slučajeva, a evidentirano je 8.096 oboljelih u 37 zemalja diljem svijeta. Od svibnja 2006., širenje SARS-a je u potpunosti zaustavljeno, sa zadnjim slučajem primjećenim u lipnju 2003. godine.
Međunarodna nogometna federacija (FIFA) je zbog SARS-a prebacila svjetsko prvenstvo nogometašica 2003. iz Kine u SAD. Zbog izbijanja SARS-a otkazane su i Arafura igre za osobe s invaliditetom u australskom Darwinu, te niz ragbi turnira i konjičkih utrka u Singapuru i Kini.
Otkazano je i nekoliko utakmica azijskih nogometnih kvalifikacija za Olimpijske igre u Ateni 2004.
Prije 11 godina došlo je do pandemija svinjske ili sjevernoameričke gripe, a prvi potvrđeni slučaj zaraze svinjskom gripom zbio se u gradiću La Gloria, Veracruz u Meksiku. Do konca travnja 2009. novi soj virusa potvrđen je i u SAD, Kanadi, Španjolskoj, Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu, Novom Zelandu, Njemačkoj, Izraelu, Kostariki i Australiji... Pandemija je proglašena zbog geografskog širenja bolesti, a ne zbog njezine težine.
Nitko nije znao koliko moćan virus može postati, iako je stopa smrtnosti na kraju bila relativno niska, oko 0,01 - 0,08 posto.
Zbog pandemije svinjske gripe otkazano je CONCACAF nogometno U-17 prvenstvo u Tijuani, otkazane su i Karipske igre na Trinidad i Tobagu, te niz natjecanja u Meksiku.
Uslijedila je Ebola, poznata još i kao ebola hemoragijska groznica i ebola virusna bolest, rijetka i smrtonosna bolest. Prvi slučajevi su zabilježeni u Sudanu i Demokratskoj Republici Kongo 1976. godine, no sve do 2013. godine od ove bolesti zaraženo je manje od 1000 ljudi godišnje.
Međutim, u prosincu 2013. pojavila se nova varijacija ebole. Epidemija je počela u Gvineji, nakon čega se proširila u Nigeriju, Liberiju, Mali i Sierra Leone...
Početkom studenog 2014. godine potvrđeno je ukupno 14.413 slučajeva bolesti, te 5.177 preminulih. Stopa smrtnosti kreće se između 50 i 70 posto. No, Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija (WHO) priznala je da navedene brojke ne ocrtavaju pravo stanje stvari, uzevši u obzir teškoće pri skupljanju podataka.
Ljudi se obično zaraze direktnim kontaktom s krvlju, izlučevinama, organima i drugim tjelesnim tekućinama zaraženih divljih, živih ili uginulih, životinja, ali se ne prenosi zrakom.
Epidemija Ebole bila je i udar na afrički sport. Afrički nogometni Kup nacija 2015. premješten je u Ekvatorijalnu Gvineju, nakon što je Maroko odbio domaćinstvo strahujući od širenja virusa na velikim skupovima. Brojne sportske aktivnosti u Africi su zaustavljene, a primjerice stadion u glavmom liberijskom gradu Monroviji je pretvoren u prihvatni centar.
Posljednja virusna infekcija koja je pogodila sport bila je Zika 2016. godine u Brazilu.
Virus Zika prenosi se ubodom zaraženog komarca roda Aedes, ali se ne prenosi zrakom (kašljanje, kihanje i sl.) ili uobičajenim kontaktima kao što su rukovanje, zagrljaj, poljubac, zajedničkim predmetima..
Utvrđeno je da virus uzrokuje mikrocefaliju, rijetku anomaliju kod novorođenčadi, kao i druge neurološke abnormalnosti. Rizik od zaraze najveći je za trudnice i žene koje planiraju trudnoću, dok je za ostale riječ o blagoj bolesti koja prolazi bez ikakvih posljedica.
Pojava Zike uoči olimpijskih igara u Rio de Janeiru izazvala je brojne srahove, posebice kod sportašica nakon što su brazilske vlasti potvrdile više od 1.400 slučajeva mikrocefalije kod beba čije su majke bile izložene Ziki tijekom trudnoće.
U Europi je zabilježeno više od tisuću uvezenih slučajeva Zika bolesti u dvadesetak zemalja kod osoba koje su prethodno boravile u područjima aktivnog prijenosa Zika virusa.
Dio sportaša kao što su tenisači Miloš Raonić, Tomaš Berdych i Karolina Pliškova, te golfgeri Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, Vijay Singh i Australac Marc Leishman odustali su od nastupa na OI.
Unatoč strahovima, niti jedan slučaj Zike ili njezina glavna neurološka komplikacija, mikrocefalija, nisu zabilježili kod sudionika olimpijskih igara.

Svijet sporta je trenutačno u mirovanju i iščkekivanju. Olimpijske igre, europsko nogometno prvenstvo i brojna druga natjecanja su odgođena ili prekinuta zbog pandemije koronavirusa.
Skoro milijarda ljudi diljem svijeta ograničena je na boravak u svojim domovima kako bi se obuzdao koronavirus koji je do sada odnio više od 18.000 života.
Pandemija koronavirusa potpuno je poremetila živote ljudi diljem planeta ograničavanjem kretanja, zatvaranjem škola i sveučilišta te zabranom javnog okupljanja, a milijuni ljudi su primorani raditi od kuće. Na udaru se našao i sport. Praktički sva sporta borilišta su utihnula.
Nažalost, ovo nije prvi put da je pandemija utjecala na sport. Svako je nagora, a posve sigurno neće biti niti posljednja.
Koncem 2002. godine u Kini se pojavio SARS, teška respiratorna febrilna bolest izazvana corona virusom. Tijekom epidemije SARS-a zabilježeno je 774 smrtnih slučajeva, a evidentirano je 8.096 oboljelih u 37 zemalja diljem svijeta. Od svibnja 2006., širenje SARS-a je u potpunosti zaustavljeno, sa zadnjim slučajem primjećenim u lipnju 2003. godine.
Međunarodna nogometna federacija (FIFA) je zbog SARS-a prebacila svjetsko prvenstvo nogometašica 2003. iz Kine u SAD. Zbog izbijanja SARS-a otkazane su i Arafura igre za osobe s invaliditetom u australskom Darwinu, te niz ragbi turnira i konjičkih utrka u Singapuru i Kini.
Otkazano je i nekoliko utakmica azijskih nogometnih kvalifikacija za Olimpijske igre u Ateni 2004.
Prije 11 godina došlo je do pandemija svinjske ili sjevernoameričke gripe, a prvi potvrđeni slučaj zaraze svinjskom gripom zbio se u gradiću La Gloria, Veracruz u Meksiku. Do konca travnja 2009. novi soj virusa potvrđen je i u SAD, Kanadi, Španjolskoj, Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu, Novom Zelandu, Njemačkoj, Izraelu, Kostariki i Australiji... Pandemija je proglašena zbog geografskog širenja bolesti, a ne zbog njezine težine.
Nitko nije znao koliko moćan virus može postati, iako je stopa smrtnosti na kraju bila relativno niska, oko 0,01 - 0,08 posto.
Zbog pandemije svinjske gripe otkazano je CONCACAF nogometno U-17 prvenstvo u Tijuani, otkazane su i Karipske igre na Trinidad i Tobagu, te niz natjecanja u Meksiku.
Uslijedila je Ebola, poznata još i kao ebola hemoragijska groznica i ebola virusna bolest, rijetka i smrtonosna bolest. Prvi slučajevi su zabilježeni u Sudanu i Demokratskoj Republici Kongo 1976. godine, no sve do 2013. godine od ove bolesti zaraženo je manje od 1000 ljudi godišnje.
Međutim, u prosincu 2013. pojavila se nova varijacija ebole. Epidemija je počela u Gvineji, nakon čega se proširila u Nigeriju, Liberiju, Mali i Sierra Leone...
Početkom studenog 2014. godine potvrđeno je ukupno 14.413 slučajeva bolesti, te 5.177 preminulih. Stopa smrtnosti kreće se između 50 i 70 posto. No, Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija (WHO) priznala je da navedene brojke ne ocrtavaju pravo stanje stvari, uzevši u obzir teškoće pri skupljanju podataka.
Ljudi se obično zaraze direktnim kontaktom s krvlju, izlučevinama, organima i drugim tjelesnim tekućinama zaraženih divljih, živih ili uginulih, životinja, ali se ne prenosi zrakom.
Epidemija Ebole bila je i udar na afrički sport. Afrički nogometni Kup nacija 2015. premješten je u Ekvatorijalnu Gvineju, nakon što je Maroko odbio domaćinstvo strahujući od širenja virusa na velikim skupovima. Brojne sportske aktivnosti u Africi su zaustavljene, a primjerice stadion u glavmom liberijskom gradu Monroviji je pretvoren u prihvatni centar.
Posljednja virusna infekcija koja je pogodila sport bila je Zika 2016. godine u Brazilu.
Virus Zika prenosi se ubodom zaraženog komarca roda Aedes, ali se ne prenosi zrakom (kašljanje, kihanje i sl.) ili uobičajenim kontaktima kao što su rukovanje, zagrljaj, poljubac, zajedničkim predmetima..
Utvrđeno je da virus uzrokuje mikrocefaliju, rijetku anomaliju kod novorođenčadi, kao i druge neurološke abnormalnosti. Rizik od zaraze najveći je za trudnice i žene koje planiraju trudnoću, dok je za ostale riječ o blagoj bolesti koja prolazi bez ikakvih posljedica.
Pojava Zike uoči olimpijskih igara u Rio de Janeiru izazvala je brojne srahove, posebice kod sportašica nakon što su brazilske vlasti potvrdile više od 1.400 slučajeva mikrocefalije kod beba čije su majke bile izložene Ziki tijekom trudnoće.
U Europi je zabilježeno više od tisuću uvezenih slučajeva Zika bolesti u dvadesetak zemalja kod osoba koje su prethodno boravile u područjima aktivnog prijenosa Zika virusa.
Dio sportaša kao što su tenisači Miloš Raonić, Tomaš Berdych i Karolina Pliškova, te golfgeri Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, Vijay Singh i Australac Marc Leishman odustali su od nastupa na OI.
Unatoč strahovima, niti jedan slučaj Zike ili njezina glavna neurološka komplikacija, mikrocefalija, nisu zabilježili kod sudionika olimpijskih igara.
