Košarkašice Stanforda nove su američke sveučilišne prvakinje (NCAA), a do svog trećeg naslova u povijesti i prvog nakon 1992. došle su pobijedivši ekipu sveučilišta Arizona s 54-53 u utakmici odigranoj u Alamodomeu u San Antoniju.  

Trenerica Stanforda Tara VanDerveer vodila je Stanford i do prva dva NCAA naslova (1990. i 1992.), a onda je na treći čekala 29 godina, što je najduže razdoblje bez naslova za trenere na sveučilištima iz Divizije 1.

Stanford je veći dio utakmice bio u vodstvu, ali je Arizona u posljednjih šest sekundi dobila napad za pobjedu. Loptu je dobila njihova najbolja igračica Aari McDonald, ali je ekipa Stanforda na to bila spremna te su čak tri igračice krenule zaustaviti šut suparnice. McDonald je unatoč pritisku uspjela izbaciti loptu na vrijeme, ali je njezin pokušaj iz daljine završio na obruču.

Tako je Arizona u svom prvom finalu i prvom nastupu na Final Fouru ostala bez naslova, nakon što su u polufinalu sa 69-59 nadigrale favortikinje sa sveučilišta UConn, za koje je ove godine nastupala i hrvatska reprezentativka Nika Muhl.

Stanford je do pobjede predvodila Haley Jones sa 17 koševa i osam skokova, dok je za Arizonu McDonald ubacila 22 poena.

U noći s ponedjeljka na utorak za NCAA naslov u muškoj konkurenciji borit će se ove sezone još neporažena momčad sveučilišta Gonzaga (31-0) protiv Baylora (27-2). Utakmica će biti odigrana u Indianapolisu na stadionu Lucas Oil.

Košarkašice Stanforda nove su američke sveučilišne prvakinje (NCAA), a do svog trećeg naslova u povijesti i prvog nakon 1992. došle su pobijedivši ekipu sveučilišta Arizona s 54-53 u utakmici odigranoj u Alamodomeu u San Antoniju.  

Trenerica Stanforda Tara VanDerveer vodila je Stanford i do prva dva NCAA naslova (1990. i 1992.), a onda je na treći čekala 29 godina, što je najduže razdoblje bez naslova za trenere na sveučilištima iz Divizije 1.

Stanford je veći dio utakmice bio u vodstvu, ali je Arizona u posljednjih šest sekundi dobila napad za pobjedu. Loptu je dobila njihova najbolja igračica Aari McDonald, ali je ekipa Stanforda na to bila spremna te su čak tri igračice krenule zaustaviti šut suparnice. McDonald je unatoč pritisku uspjela izbaciti loptu na vrijeme, ali je njezin pokušaj iz daljine završio na obruču.

Tako je Arizona u svom prvom finalu i prvom nastupu na Final Fouru ostala bez naslova, nakon što su u polufinalu sa 69-59 nadigrale favortikinje sa sveučilišta UConn, za koje je ove godine nastupala i hrvatska reprezentativka Nika Muhl.

Stanford je do pobjede predvodila Haley Jones sa 17 koševa i osam skokova, dok je za Arizonu McDonald ubacila 22 poena.

U noći s ponedjeljka na utorak za NCAA naslov u muškoj konkurenciji borit će se ove sezone još neporažena momčad sveučilišta Gonzaga (31-0) protiv Baylora (27-2). Utakmica će biti odigrana u Indianapolisu na stadionu Lucas Oil.

Košarkašice Stanforda nove su američke sveučilišne prvakinje (NCAA), a do svog trećeg naslova u povijesti i prvog nakon 1992. došle su pobijedivši ekipu sveučilišta Arizona s 54-53 u utakmici odigranoj u Alamodomeu u San Antoniju.  

Trenerica Stanforda Tara VanDerveer vodila je Stanford i do prva dva NCAA naslova (1990. i 1992.), a onda je na treći čekala 29 godina, što je najduže razdoblje bez naslova za trenere na sveučilištima iz Divizije 1.

Stanford je veći dio utakmice bio u vodstvu, ali je Arizona u posljednjih šest sekundi dobila napad za pobjedu. Loptu je dobila njihova najbolja igračica Aari McDonald, ali je ekipa Stanforda na to bila spremna te su čak tri igračice krenule zaustaviti šut suparnice.
