U ponedjeljak, 29. travnja, samo dan nakon proslave 95. rođendana, preminuo je Božidar Papić, bivši gradonačelnik Splita, koji je tu funkciju obnašao godinu dana, između 1985. i 1986. godine.

Za sve one koji su ga poznavali on je bio šjor Božo, a rođen je u Bolu, na Braču, 1929. godine te je bio šesto dijete u obitelji Papić, koja je bila iseljenička obitelj i koja se te 1929. godine vratila iz Antofagaste u Čileu.

Nakon Božidarova rođenja, obitelj odlazi u Split, gdje se u Varošu i nastanjuje, a otac Ivan otvorio je dućan mješovite robe.

Šjor Božo je u Splitu završio osnovnu i srednju školu, a poslije je kroz rad završio i ekonomski fakultet. Već sa završenom srednjom školom počinje raditi na željeznici u Splitu, gdje vrlo brzo, kao pametan i odgovoran mladi čovjek, postaje direktor. Važno je istaknuti da je u to vrijeme, s 21 godinom života, postao najmlađi direktor u bivšoj Jugoslaviji.

Nakon rada na željeznici odlazi na mjesto prvog čovjeka Radničkog sveučilišta "Đuro Salaj" u Splitu, a poslije toga postaje direktor "Jadrankamena" u Splitu. Uvijek je bio politički aktivan, a nakon "Jadrankamena" postaje direktor splitskog "Naprijeda". Odatle odlazi na mjesto predsjednika Zadružnog saveza Dalmacije te je svojim radom umnogome pridonio u širenju zadrugarstva po Dalmaciji.

Zbog svih tih kvaliteta u radu, a prije svega zbog svoje ljudskosti, imenovan je splitskim gradonačelnikom.

Vitalan i vedar

Nakon što je godinu dana proveo na mjestu splitskog poteštata, šjor Božo se ponovno vraća u Zadružni savez Dalmacije, odakle početkom devedesetih godina prošlog stoljeća odlazi u zasluženu mirovinu.

Toga vitalnog čovjeka moglo se do prije nekih šest mjeseci redovito vidjeti kako uz pomoć štapa šeta po splitskom kvartu Bol, jer je u blizini, u Smiljanićevoj ulici, i živio. Uvijek je bio vedar, nasmijan i dobro raspoložen. I tako je bilo sve do 13. listopada prošle godine, kada ga je, tijekom njegove dnevne rutine šetanja po kvartu, oborio automobil.

Tada je zadobio teške ozljede potkoljenice, preživio je i pretrpio dvije teške operacije koju su obavili vrsni kirurzi KBC-a Split i oporavio se.

Krajem veljače ove godine završio je s liječenjem, vratio se dnevnoj rutini šetanja, ali tada po dvoru svoje kuće, jer je nesreća ipak na njemu ostavila traga. Među ostalim, dobio je upalu pluća, srce je počelo zatajivati i, nažalost, preminuo je 29. travnja.

Pogreb Božidara Papića bit će u petak u 12.45 sati na splitskom groblju Lovrinac.

U ponedjeljak, 29. travnja, samo dan nakon proslave 95. rođendana, preminuo je Božidar Papić, bivši gradonačelnik Splita, koji je tu funkciju obnašao godinu dana, između 1985. i 1986. godine.

Za sve one koji su ga poznavali on je bio šjor Božo, a rođen je u Bolu, na Braču, 1929. godine te je bio šesto dijete u obitelji Papić, koja je bila iseljenička obitelj i koja se te 1929. godine vratila iz Antofagaste u Čileu.

Nakon Božidarova rođenja, obitelj odlazi u Split, gdje se u Varošu i nastanjuje, a otac Ivan otvorio je dućan mješovite robe.

Šjor Božo je u Splitu završio osnovnu i srednju školu, a poslije je kroz rad završio i ekonomski fakultet. Već sa završenom srednjom školom počinje raditi na željeznici u Splitu, gdje vrlo brzo, kao pametan i odgovoran mladi čovjek, postaje direktor. Važno je istaknuti da je u to vrijeme, s 21 godinom života, postao najmlađi direktor u bivšoj Jugoslaviji.

Nakon rada na željeznici odlazi na mjesto prvog čovjeka Radničkog sveučilišta "Đuro Salaj" u Splitu, a poslije toga postaje direktor "Jadrankamena" u Splitu. Uvijek je bio politički aktivan, a nakon "Jadrankamena" postaje direktor splitskog "Naprijeda". Odatle odlazi na mjesto predsjednika Zadružnog saveza Dalmacije te je svojim radom umnogome pridonio u širenju zadrugarstva po Dalmaciji.

Zbog svih tih kvaliteta u radu, a prije svega zbog svoje ljudskosti, imenovan je splitskim gradonačelnikom.

Vitalan i vedar

Nakon što je godinu dana proveo na mjestu splitskog poteštata, šjor Božo se ponovno vraća u Zadružni savez Dalmacije, odakle početkom devedesetih godina prošlog stoljeća odlazi u zasluženu mirovinu.

Toga vitalnog čovjeka moglo se do prije nekih šest mjeseci redovito vidjeti kako uz pomoć štapa šeta po splitskom kvartu Bol, jer je u blizini, u Smiljanićevoj ulici, i živio. Uvijek je bio vedar, nasmijan i dobro raspoložen. I tako je bilo sve do 13. listopada prošle godine, kada ga je, tijekom njegove dnevne rutine šetanja po kvartu, oborio automobil.

Tada je zadobio teške ozljede potkoljenice, preživio je i pretrpio dvije teške operacije koju su obavili vrsni kirurzi KBC-a Split i oporavio se.

Krajem veljače ove godine završio je s liječenjem, vratio se dnevnoj rutini šetanja, ali tada po dvoru svoje kuće, jer je nesreća ipak na njemu ostavila traga. Među ostalim, dobio je upalu pluća, srce je počelo zatajivati i, nažalost, preminuo je 29. travnja.

Pogreb Božidara Papića bit će u petak u 12.45 sati na splitskom groblju Lovrinac.

U ponedjeljak, 29. travnja, samo dan nakon proslave 95. rođendana, preminuo je Božidar Papić, bivši gradonačelnik Splita, koji je tu funkciju obnašao godinu dana, između 1985. i 1986. godine.

Za sve one koji su ga poznavali on je bio šjor Božo, a rođen je u Bolu, na Braču, 1929. godine te je bio šesto dijete u obitelji Papić, koja je bila iseljenička obitelj i koja se te 1929. godine vratila iz Antofagaste u Čileu.

Nakon Božidarova rođenja, obitelj odlazi u Split, gdje se u Varošu i nastanjuje, a otac Ivan otvorio je dućan mješovite robe.

Šjor Božo je u Splitu završio osnovnu i srednju školu, a poslije je kroz rad završio i ekonomski fakultet. Već sa završenom srednjom školom počinje raditi na željeznici u Splitu, gdje vrlo brzo, kao pametan i odgovoran mladi čovjek, postaje direktor. Važno je istaknuti da je u to vrijeme, s 21 godinom života, postao najmlađi direktor u bivšoj Jugoslaviji.

Nakon rada na željeznici odlazi na mjesto prvog čovjeka Radničkog sveučilišta "Đuro Salaj" u Splitu, a poslije toga postaje direktor "Jadrankamena" u Splitu. Uvijek je bio politički aktivan, a nakon "Jadrankamena" postaje direktor splitskog "Naprijeda". Odatle odlazi na mjesto predsjednika Zadružnog saveza Dalmacije te je svojim radom umnogome pridonio u širenju zadrugarstva po Dalmaciji.
