Takvim testom mogli bi se izabrati pacijenti za klinička istraživanja eksperimentalnih lijekova za Alzheimera, a jednoga dana mogli bi postati i rutinski postupak u klinikama, kažu stručnjaci.

"Alzheimer počinje utjecati na mozak puno prije dijagnoze bolesti i brojna istraživanja lijekova propadnu zbog toga što je mozak pacijenata kojima dajemo lijekove već jako zahvaćen", rekao je Simon Lovestone sa sveučilišta u Oxfordu.

"Pomoću krvnog testa mogli bi identificirati pacijente u ranijoj fazi bolesti i uključiti ih u istraživanja novih lijekova", dodao je.

Alzheimer je najčešći oblik demencije, bolesti propadanja mozga čije liječenje godišnje košta 604 milijarde dolara.

Od te smrtonosne bolesti pate 44 milijuna ljudi na svijetu, a očekuje se da će se taj broj utrostručiti do 2050.

"Alzheimer počinje utjecati na mozak puno prije dijagnoze bolesti i brojna istraživanja lijekova propadnu zbog toga što je mozak pacijenata kojima dajemo lijekove već jako zahvaćen", rekao je Simon Lovestone sa sveučilišta u Oxfordu.

"Pomoću krvnog testa mogli bi identificirati pacijente u ranijoj fazi bolesti i uključiti ih u istraživanja novih lijekova", dodao je.

Alzheimer je najčešći oblik demencije, bolesti propadanja mozga čije liječenje godišnje košta 604 milijarde dolara.

Od te smrtonosne bolesti pate 44 milijuna ljudi na svijetu, a očekuje se da će se taj broj utrostručiti do 2050.

Britanski znanstvenici otkrili su u krvi deset proteina koji mogu predvidjeti pojavu Alzheimerove bolesti, što je važan korak prema razvoju testa na tu neizlječivu bolest mozga.
