Dora Rapaport izgubila je čitavu obitelj u holokaustu. Ona je preživjela, ali djevojčicu koju je rodila u koncentracijskom logoru nacisti su joj oduzeli, a mlada majka više nikad poslije nije vidjela svoju kćerkicu. Trebalo je proći predugih 75 godina kako bi se razlomljeni dijelovi njezine obiteljske priče ponovno spojili.

Rapaport je iz logora uspjela pobjeći u Austriju 1945. Tad je upoznala čovjeka koji je također preživio holokaust. Vjenčali su se, dobili kćeri Denu i Jean te 1949. emigrirali u Ameriku.

Sestre Dena Morris (73) i Jean Gearhart (75) za Inside Edition Digital kažu kako je njihova majka Dora cijeli život provela tražeći svoju izgubljenu kćer kojoj je dala ime Eva. Nekoliko puta čak je putovala u Njemačku, gdje je obilazila sirotišta, ali nikad nije uspjela pronaći bilo kakve informacije o djevojčici. Nesretna majka nikad se nije pomirila s traumom koju je doživjela zbog gubitka prvorođenoga djeteta.

Prije Dorine smrti 1998., kćeri Dena i Jean obećale su majci kako će nastaviti potragu za Evom. Sestre su godinama pretraživale internetske baze podataka, zapise o smrti, apsolutno sve za što su vjerovale da im može pomoći pronaći stariju sestru, ali kako je vrijeme odmicalo, to je postajalo sve teže.

- Pretpostavljala sam da nikad nećemo saznati što se zapravo dogodilo - rekla je Jean. A onda se u travnju 2021. godine dogodilo nešto izvanredno. Jean je, naime, dostavila sestrin i svoj DNK genealoškoj platformi MyHeritage, nakon čega su saznale kako postoji uzorak s kojim se genetski podudaraju. U pitanju je bila 53-godišnja žena po imenu Clare Reay iz Newcastlea u Engleskoj.

- Oduvijek sam bila znatiželjna o majčinoj strani obitelji. Sin mi je za rođendan 2020. kupio MyHeritage komplet i nekoliko tjedana nakon što sam predala svoj DNK, dobila sam e-mail u kojemu je pisalo da imam tetu. Nisam mogla vjerovati! Naravno da sam bila pomalo skeptična, jer što se moje mame tiče, ona nije imala nikoga na svijetu, tako smo barem oduvijek vjerovali i mislili - rekla je Clare za Inside Edition Digital.

No nakon što je razgovarala i razmijenila sve dostupne informacije s Denom i Jean, koje su joj poslale i Dorine fotografije, sve im je postalo jasno.

- Bila sam preplavljena emocijama i presretna zbog vijesti, ali i nevjerojatno tužna jer moje majke više nije bilo, žalila sam što nije mogla sudjelovati u radosti tog čarobnog trenutka - izjavila je Clare.

- Miješali su mi se osjećaji sreće i tuge. Sreća je bila u tome što je Eva preživjela, iako je kasnije preminula, ali barem smo imali obitelj. A tu je i tuga jer se Eva i moja mama nikad nisu našle - rekla je pak Jean.

Clare za Inside Edition Digital kaže kako njezina majka nije znala ništa o svojoj obitelji. Nije znala ni kako se zove niti datum svojega rođenja.

- Što se moje majke tiče, njezina obitelj stradala je u ratu. Jedini dokument koji je ikad imala bio je onaj o rođenju u Bergen-Belsenu 1945. Pokušala je pronaći neke informacije, ali bezuspješno. Rečeno joj je kako je sve uništeno na kraju rata, a Bergen-Belsen tad je spaljen zajedno sa svim zapisima - ispričala je Clare, misleći na nacistički koncentracijski logor u kojemu je ubijeno više od 50.000 ljudi.

Dodaje i kako se njezina majka sjećala samo da je kao mala boravila u sirotištu u Izraelu.

- Njezina mama bila je Britanka, a tata Belgijanac. Udomili su je u Izraelu, odveli u Belgiju i zatim u Ujedinjeno Kraljevstvo. Jedina fotografija moje majke kao djeteta je ona s mojom bakom Dorom, to je dokaz njezina života s njezinom biološkom obitelji. Nismo znali da to uopće postoji, sve do prije dvije godine. Moja majka to nikad nije vidjela. Nikad nije niti znala da Dora postoji - rekla je.

Clare, koja ima starijeg brata i dvije mlađe sestre, kaže i kako se njezina majka nikad nije zvala Eva, nego Evelyn ili Ev. Eva je umrla 2014. od raka gušterače.

U studenome 2021., nakon gotovo dvije godine čekanja, Clare je konačno uspjela osobno upoznati Denu i Jean, iznenadivši ih posjetom njihovoj kući u Ohiju u SAD-u. Susret je, kaže, bio više nego emotivan.

Clare svoju majku opisuje kao glamuroznu ženu "zarazne" osobnosti koja je voljela ljude i uvijek je bila "srce svake zabave". Kad je saznala više o svojoj baki Dori, bila je hipnotizirana koliko su joj majka i ona slične.

- Kad Dena i Jean pričaju o Dori, to je kao da pričaju o mojoj mami! Mogle su biti sestre blizanke, sličnosti su tako nevjerojatne! Obje su voljele kartati, kockati se i imale su muževe koji su ih obožavali - kaže Clare.

Ponovno spojena obitelj planira se ponovno okupiti u Velikoj Britaniji, gdje Clare živi.

- Držim palčeve da se to dogodi već ove godine - zaključuje.

Dora Rapaport izgubila je čitavu obitelj u holokaustu. Ona je preživjela, ali djevojčicu koju je rodila u koncentracijskom logoru nacisti su joj oduzeli, a mlada majka više nikad poslije nije vidjela svoju kćerkicu. Trebalo je proći predugih 75 godina kako bi se razlomljeni dijelovi njezine obiteljske priče ponovno spojili.

Rapaport je iz logora uspjela pobjeći u Austriju 1945. Tad je upoznala čovjeka koji je također preživio holokaust. Vjenčali su se, dobili kćeri Denu i Jean te 1949. emigrirali u Ameriku.

Sestre Dena Morris (73) i Jean Gearhart (75) za Inside Edition Digital kažu kako je njihova majka Dora cijeli život provela tražeći svoju izgubljenu kćer kojoj je dala ime Eva. Nekoliko puta čak je putovala u Njemačku, gdje je obilazila sirotišta, ali nikad nije uspjela pronaći bilo kakve informacije o djevojčici. Nesretna majka nikad se nije pomirila s traumom koju je doživjela zbog gubitka prvorođenoga djeteta.

Prije Dorine smrti 1998., kćeri Dena i Jean obećale su majci kako će nastaviti potragu za Evom. Sestre su godinama pretraživale internetske baze podataka, zapise o smrti, apsolutno sve za što su vjerovale da im može pomoći pronaći stariju sestru, ali kako je vrijeme odmicalo, to je postajalo sve teže.

- Pretpostavljala sam da nikad nećemo saznati što se zapravo dogodilo - rekla je Jean. A onda se u travnju 2021. godine dogodilo nešto izvanredno. Jean je, naime, dostavila sestrin i svoj DNK genealoškoj platformi MyHeritage, nakon čega su saznale kako postoji uzorak s kojim se genetski podudaraju. U pitanju je bila 53-godišnja žena po imenu Clare Reay iz Newcastlea u Engleskoj.

- Oduvijek sam bila znatiželjna o majčinoj strani obitelji. Sin mi je za rođendan 2020. kupio MyHeritage komplet i nekoliko tjedana nakon što sam predala svoj DNK, dobila sam e-mail u kojemu je pisalo da imam tetu. Nisam mogla vjerovati! Naravno da sam bila pomalo skeptična, jer što se moje mame tiče, ona nije imala nikoga na svijetu, tako smo barem oduvijek vjerovali i mislili - rekla je Clare za Inside Edition Digital.

No nakon što je razgovarala i razmijenila sve dostupne informacije s Denom i Jean, koje su joj poslale i Dorine fotografije, sve im je postalo jasno.

- Bila sam preplavljena emocijama i presretna zbog vijesti, ali i nevjerojatno tužna jer moje majke više nije bilo, žalila sam što nije mogla sudjelovati u radosti tog čarobnog trenutka - izjavila je Clare.

- Miješali su mi se osjećaji sreće i tuge. Sreća je bila u tome što je Eva preživjela, iako je kasnije preminula, ali barem smo imali obitelj. A tu je i tuga jer se Eva i moja mama nikad nisu našle - rekla je pak Jean.

Clare za Inside Edition Digital kaže kako njezina majka nije znala ništa o svojoj obitelji. Nije znala ni kako se zove niti datum svojega rođenja.

- Što se moje majke tiče, njezina obitelj stradala je u ratu. Jedini dokument koji je ikad imala bio je onaj o rođenju u Bergen-Belsenu 1945. Pokušala je pronaći neke informacije, ali bezuspješno. Rečeno joj je kako je sve uništeno na kraju rata, a Bergen-Belsen tad je spaljen zajedno sa svim zapisima - ispričala je Clare, misleći na nacistički koncentracijski logor u kojemu je ubijeno više od 50.000 ljudi.

Dodaje i kako se njezina majka sjećala samo da je kao mala boravila u sirotištu u Izraelu.

- Njezina mama bila je Britanka, a tata Belgijanac. Udomili su je u Izraelu, odveli u Belgiju i zatim u Ujedinjeno Kraljevstvo. Jedina fotografija moje majke kao djeteta je ona s mojom bakom Dorom, to je dokaz njezina života s njezinom biološkom obitelji. Nismo znali da to uopće postoji, sve do prije dvije godine. Moja majka to nikad nije vidjela. Nikad nije niti znala da Dora postoji - rekla je.

Clare, koja ima starijeg brata i dvije mlađe sestre, kaže i kako se njezina majka nikad nije zvala Eva, nego Evelyn ili Ev. Eva je umrla 2014. od raka gušterače.

U studenome 2021., nakon gotovo dvije godine čekanja, Clare je konačno uspjela osobno upoznati Denu i Jean, iznenadivši ih posjetom njihovoj kući u Ohiju u SAD-u. Susret je, kaže, bio više nego emotivan.

Clare svoju majku opisuje kao glamuroznu ženu "zarazne" osobnosti koja je voljela ljude i uvijek je bila "srce svake zabave". Kad je saznala više o svojoj baki Dori, bila je hipnotizirana koliko su joj majka i ona slične.

- Kad Dena i Jean pričaju o Dori, to je kao da pričaju o mojoj mami! Mogle su biti sestre blizanke, sličnosti su tako nevjerojatne! Obje su voljele kartati, kockati se i imale su muževe koji su ih obožavali - kaže Clare.

Ponovno spojena obitelj planira se ponovno okupiti u Velikoj Britaniji, gdje Clare živi.

- Držim palčeve da se to dogodi već ove godine - zaključuje.
