Tim međunarodnih znanstvenika pronašao je novi, "pouzdani pokazatelj" zdravstvenih problema neke osobe, onih koji mogu uzrokovati ranu smrt. Koristeći tehnike umjetne inteligencije, istraživači su proučavali oči gotovo 47.000 ljudi i zaključili da stanje naše mrežnice može signalizirati povećani rizik od smrti.

Studija, objavljena ovog tjedna u British Journal of Ophthalmology, temelji se na preciznom utvrđivanju razlike između nečije biološke "prave" dobi i kronološke dobi. To se može mjeriti ispitivanjem stanja mrežnice, živčanog tkiva na stražnjem dijelu oka koje ima stanice osjetljive na svjetlost, piše RT.

Promatračka studija, koja samo iznosi određene zaključke bez utvrđivanja uzroka, uključivala je podatke iz dugoročne studije UK Biobank. Preko 80.000 slika mrežnice snimljenih od 46.969 odraslih osoba u dobi između 40 i 69 godina analizirano je računalnim algoritmima tijekom prosječnog razdoblja praćenja od 11 godina. Izračunat je udio takozvanih "brzih starača", ili ljudi čije su mrežnice izgledale starije od njihove stvarne dobi.

"Velike razlike u dobi mrežnice u godinama bile su značajno povezane s 49-67 posto većim rizikom od smrti, osim od kardiovaskularnih bolesti ili raka", otkrili su istraživači. Također su predložili da se ovo može koristiti kao alat za probir, mjerenje starosti mrežnice kako bi se predvidio povećani rizik od smrtnosti.

Dok se očno tkivo prirodno pogoršava kako osoba stari, nedavno je istraživanje naučilo izmjeriti ono što se naziva "dobna razlika u mrežnici". Budući da je biološko starenje jedinstveno za svakog pojedinca, bolji je pokazatelj potencijalnih ozbiljnih zdravstvenih stanja, kažu istraživači. Sveukupno zdravlje tjelesnog krvožilnog sustava i mozga može se proučavati gledanjem na mrežnicu, što omogućuje procjenu temeljnih patoloških procesa.

Tim međunarodnih znanstvenika pronašao je novi, "pouzdani pokazatelj" zdravstvenih problema neke osobe, onih koji mogu uzrokovati ranu smrt. Koristeći tehnike umjetne inteligencije, istraživači su proučavali oči gotovo 47.000 ljudi i zaključili da stanje naše mrežnice može signalizirati povećani rizik od smrti.

Studija, objavljena ovog tjedna u British Journal of Ophthalmology, temelji se na preciznom utvrđivanju razlike između nečije biološke "prave" dobi i kronološke dobi. To se može mjeriti ispitivanjem stanja mrežnice, živčanog tkiva na stražnjem dijelu oka koje ima stanice osjetljive na svjetlost, piše RT.

Promatračka studija, koja samo iznosi određene zaključke bez utvrđivanja uzroka, uključivala je podatke iz dugoročne studije UK Biobank. Preko 80.000 slika mrežnice snimljenih od 46.969 odraslih osoba u dobi između 40 i 69 godina analizirano je računalnim algoritmima tijekom prosječnog razdoblja praćenja od 11 godina. Izračunat je udio takozvanih "brzih starača", ili ljudi čije su mrežnice izgledale starije od njihove stvarne dobi.

"Velike razlike u dobi mrežnice u godinama bile su značajno povezane s 49-67 posto većim rizikom od smrti, osim od kardiovaskularnih bolesti ili raka", otkrili su istraživači. Također su predložili da se ovo može koristiti kao alat za probir, mjerenje starosti mrežnice kako bi se predvidio povećani rizik od smrtnosti.

Dok se očno tkivo prirodno pogoršava kako osoba stari, nedavno je istraživanje naučilo izmjeriti ono što se naziva "dobna razlika u mrežnici". Budući da je biološko starenje jedinstveno za svakog pojedinca, bolji je pokazatelj potencijalnih ozbiljnih zdravstvenih stanja, kažu istraživači. Sveukupno zdravlje tjelesnog krvožilnog sustava i mozga može se proučavati gledanjem na mrežnicu, što omogućuje procjenu temeljnih patoloških procesa.

Tim međunarodnih znanstvenika pronašao je novi, "pouzdani pokazatelj" zdravstvenih problema neke osobe, onih koji mogu uzrokovati ranu smrt. Koristeći tehnike umjetne inteligencije, istraživači su proučavali oči gotovo 47.000 ljudi i zaključili da stanje naše mrežnice može signalizirati povećani rizik od smrti.

Studija, objavljena ovog tjedna u British Journal of Ophthalmology, temelji se na preciznom utvrđivanju razlike između nečije biološke "prave" dobi i kronološke dobi. To se može mjeriti ispitivanjem stanja mrežnice, živčanog tkiva na stražnjem dijelu oka koje ima stanice osjetljive na svjetlost, piše RT.
