U ažuriranoj verziji izvješća o utjecaju krize prouzrokovane pandemijom koronavirusa UNESCO predviđa da će, s obzirom na pad u međunarodnom turizmu, statistike posjećenosti i prihoda muzeja u 2021. ostati na prošlogodišnjoj razini.
Kako je izvijestio Muzejski dokumentacijski centar, nakon izvješća od prije godinu dana njegova ažurirana verzija temelji se na anketi provedenoj u ožujku ove godine, a dio pitanja odnosio se na prvo tromjesečje ove godine, kada je, od država koje su ju ispunile, njih 43 posto ponovno zatvorilo svoja vrata zbog pandemije. Od 193 država članica njih 87 su odgovorile na upitnik, među njima i Hrvatska.
Čak 83 posto ispitanih država uvele su mjere djelomičnog ili potpunog zatvaranja 2020. godine, za većinu njih mjere se nisu primjenjivale samo na državne muzeje, nego i na čitav muzejski sektor. Muzeji su bili zatvoreni prosječno 155 dana, odnosno nešto više od pet mjeseci. Najveći broj država, među kojima je Hrvatska, bio je zatvoren 31 do 90 dana.
To je rezultiralo velikim padom posjećenosti od 70 posto u prosjeku, zbog dramatičnog pada međunarodnog turizma čak i onih koji su uz provođenje epidemioloških mjerama ostali otvoreni. Čak 16 država imalo je više od 90 postotno smanjenje broja posjetitelja.
Iz MDC-a kažu kako je nagli pad posjetitelja imao znatne financijske posljedice za muzeje, što je posebice ugrožavajuće za muzeje čiji prihodi u većoj mjeri ovise o prodaji ulaznica i organizaciji događanja.

Prihodi muzeja u 2020. smanjili su se između 40 i 60 posto, a mnoge institucije prijavljuju prihode koji su za 60 do 80 posto niži u usporedbi s prihodima iz 2019. Hrvatska je među osam država s blažim smanjenjem prihoda od 1 do 20 posto.
Za četvrtinu država članica, uključivši Hrvatsku, subvencije za muzeje su ostale stabilne, a za četvrtinu su se čak i povećale, ponekad i za više od 20 posto.
Čak tri četvrtine država članica smatra da postoje prijetnje njihovim muzejima među kojima se ističu smanjenje prihoda i pitanje organizacije muzeja, pitanje sigurnosti zbirki i njihove zaštite, smanjenje prihoda i gubitaka radnih mjesta u sektoru.
Osim na posljedice zatvaranja istraživanje nije zaobišlo aktualne teme poput pokreta Black Lives Matter i dekonolizacije fundusa, u kontekstu pitanja društvene korisnosti muzeja, a potvrdilo je i postojanje digitalnog jaza između različitih geografskih regija, potenciranog u vrijeme lockdowna kada su digitalni alati bili ključni u prilagodbi na novonastalu situaciju.
Po riječima Ivone Marić iz MDC-a, kao što je istaknuto u izvješću, u vremenu zdravstvene, ekonomske i društvene krize muzeji se ne bi trebali smatrati teretom već zalogom za budućnost i gospodarski razvoj.

Kako je izvijestio Muzejski dokumentacijski centar, nakon izvješća od prije godinu dana njegova ažurirana verzija temelji se na anketi provedenoj u ožujku ove godine, a dio pitanja odnosio se na prvo tromjesečje ove godine, kada je, od država koje su ju ispunile, njih 43 posto ponovno zatvorilo svoja vrata zbog pandemije. Od 193 država članica njih 87 su odgovorile na upitnik, među njima i Hrvatska.
Čak 83 posto ispitanih država uvele su mjere djelomičnog ili potpunog zatvaranja 2020. godine, za većinu njih mjere se nisu primjenjivale samo na državne muzeje, nego i na čitav muzejski sektor. Muzeji su bili zatvoreni prosječno 155 dana, odnosno nešto više od pet mjeseci. Najveći broj država, među kojima je Hrvatska, bio je zatvoren 31 do 90 dana.
To je rezultiralo velikim padom posjećenosti od 70 posto u prosjeku, zbog dramatičnog pada međunarodnog turizma čak i onih koji su uz provođenje epidemioloških mjerama ostali otvoreni. Čak 16 država imalo je više od 90 postotno smanjenje broja posjetitelja.
Iz MDC-a kažu kako je nagli pad posjetitelja imao znatne financijske posljedice za muzeje, što je posebice ugrožavajuće za muzeje čiji prihodi u većoj mjeri ovise o prodaji ulaznica i organizaciji događanja.

Prihodi muzeja u 2020. smanjili su se između 40 i 60 posto, a mnoge institucije prijavljuju prihode koji su za 60 do 80 posto niži u usporedbi s prihodima iz 2019. Hrvatska je među osam država s blažim smanjenjem prihoda od 1 do 20 posto.
Za četvrtinu država članica, uključivši Hrvatsku, subvencije za muzeje su ostale stabilne, a za četvrtinu su se čak i povećale, ponekad i za više od 20 posto.
Čak tri četvrtine država članica smatra da postoje prijetnje njihovim muzejima među kojima se ističu smanjenje prihoda i pitanje organizacije muzeja, pitanje sigurnosti zbirki i njihove zaštite, smanjenje prihoda i gubitaka radnih mjesta u sektoru.
Osim na posljedice zatvaranja istraživanje nije zaobišlo aktualne teme poput pokreta Black Lives Matter i dekonolizacije fundusa, u kontekstu pitanja društvene korisnosti muzeja, a potvrdilo je i postojanje digitalnog jaza između različitih geografskih regija, potenciranog u vrijeme lockdowna kada su digitalni alati bili ključni u prilagodbi na novonastalu situaciju.
Po riječima Ivone Marić iz MDC-a, kao što je istaknuto u izvješću, u vremenu zdravstvene, ekonomske i društvene krize muzeji se ne bi trebali smatrati teretom već zalogom za budućnost i gospodarski razvoj.
"No, za razliku od uloge koju su imali u prošlim stoljećima muzeji bi se trebali transformirati u aktivne sudionike društva, podupirući razvoj i potrebe svih zajednica koje ga sačinjavaju", zaključila je u tekstu o UNESCO-ovom izvješću.
