Američka Agencija za hranu i lijekove (FDA) u petak je odobrila lijek za Alzheimerovu bolest lekanemab za pacijente u najranijim stadijima bolesti koji su razvili japanska farmaceutska tvrtka Eisai i američki Biogen.

Lijek, koji će se prodavati pod imenom Leqembi, pripada klasi tretmana koji imaju za cilj usporiti napredovanje neurodegenerativne bolesti uklanjanjem ljepljivih nakupina toksičnog proteina beta amiloida iz mozga.

Gotovo svi prethodni eksperimentalni lijekovi koji su koristili taj pristup nisu bili uspješni.

"Današnje vijesti su nevjerojatno važne", rekao je glavni znanstveni direktor Zaklade za otkrivanje lijekova za Alzheimerovu bolest dr. Howard Fillit. "Godine istraživanja nedvojbeno najsloženije bolesti s kojom se ljudi suočavaju isplate se i daju nam nadu da možemo ne samo liječiti Alzheimerovu bolest nego ju i spriječiti", dodao je.

Eisai je objavio da će lijek biti lansiran po godišnjoj cijeni od 26.500 dolara.

Japanska tvrtka je rekla da također planira podnijeti zahtjev za odobrenjem lijeka Leqembi u Japanu i Europskoj uniji do kraja poslovne godine 31. ožujka.

Eisai je procijenio da će broj pacijenata u SAD-u koji ispunjavaju uvjete za lijek doseći oko 100.000 u roku od tri godine, postupno se povećavajući tijekom srednjeg i duljeg razdoblja.

Američka Agencija za hranu i lijekove (FDA) u petak je odobrila lijek za Alzheimerovu bolest lekanemab za pacijente u najranijim stadijima bolesti koji su razvili japanska farmaceutska tvrtka Eisai i američki Biogen.

Lijek, koji će se prodavati pod imenom Leqembi, pripada klasi tretmana koji imaju za cilj usporiti napredovanje neurodegenerativne bolesti uklanjanjem ljepljivih nakupina toksičnog proteina beta amiloida iz mozga.

Gotovo svi prethodni eksperimentalni lijekovi koji su koristili taj pristup nisu bili uspješni.

"Današnje vijesti su nevjerojatno važne", rekao je glavni znanstveni direktor Zaklade za otkrivanje lijekova za Alzheimerovu bolest dr. Howard Fillit. "Godine istraživanja nedvojbeno najsloženije bolesti s kojom se ljudi suočavaju isplate se i daju nam nadu da možemo ne samo liječiti Alzheimerovu bolest nego ju i spriječiti", dodao je.

Eisai je objavio da će lijek biti lansiran po godišnjoj cijeni od 26.500 dolara.

Japanska tvrtka je rekla da također planira podnijeti zahtjev za odobrenjem lijeka Leqembi u Japanu i Europskoj uniji do kraja poslovne godine 31. ožujka.

Eisai je procijenio da će broj pacijenata u SAD-u koji ispunjavaju uvjete za lijek doseći oko 100.000 u roku od tri godine, postupno se povećavajući tijekom srednjeg i duljeg razdoblja.

Američka Agencija za hranu i lijekove (FDA) u petak je odobrila lijek za Alzheimerovu bolest lekanemab za pacijente u najranijim stadijima bolesti koji su razvili japanska farmaceutska tvrtka Eisai i američki Biogen.

Lijek, koji će se prodavati pod imenom Leqembi, pripada klasi tretmana koji imaju za cilj usporiti napredovanje neurodegenerativne bolesti uklanjanjem ljepljivih nakupina toksičnog proteina beta amiloida iz mozga.

Gotovo svi prethodni eksperimentalni lijekovi koji su koristili taj pristup nisu bili uspješni.
