Filmaši i kazalištarci, dakle, glumci, glazbenici i plesači, već mjesecima dišu na škrge. Predstave se igraju pred šačicom gledatelja i to samo one koje dobiju zeleno svjetlo epidemiologa, dakle, produkcijski skromni kammerspieli u kojima nije dopušteno pjevati. Filmovi se do daljnjega ne snimaju, što i nije tako loše, jer se oni već snimljeni projiciraju pred rijetkim gledateljima. Toliko rijetkima da danas akcijski spektakli na blagajnama uprihode iznose koje su nekoć zarađivale sumorne rumunjske drame. Kako, međutim, u okolnostima novog normalnog – dakle, potpuno nenormalnog – funkcioniraju pisci? Hvala na pitanju, bez ikakvih problema.
Za početak, održavanje fizičke distance njima ne pada teško, jer oprezni razmak od ostatka stanovništva njeguju i u idealnim vremenima. Pisanje je, kao što vjerojatno slutite, samotnjački posao. U društvu je teško natipkati i žalbu komunalnom poduzeću, a kamoli tek priču ili, ne daj bože, roman, pa se svakodnevica prosječnoga književnika ne razlikuje bitno od one grofa Monte Christa dok je robijao u tamnici koja se zvala kao butelja vina, Château d'If.
PUSTINJAČKI ŽIVOT
I u ona divna vremena dok su virusi harali samo između korica znanstvenofantastične literature, pisci su živjeli kao pustinjaci. Proglašenjem pandemije za njih se ništa neobično i novo nije dogodilo, samo što su njihov dosadni stil života silom prilika morali prigrliti i oni ljudi koji su do jučer živjeli uzbudljivo ili, u najmanju ruku, dinamičnije od književnika.
Kao što se nije promijenila radna rutina pisaca, ni primanja od umjetničkog rada nisu im se bitno reducirala. Naravno, ljudi već mjesecima manje troše, svodeći svoje izdatke na ono što im se čini bitno i bez čega ne mogu, pa je logično da se i knjige manje kupuju. To više jer su sajmovi – od najvećega, Interlibera, do niza manjih – otkazani na neodređeno vrijeme, dakle, do boljeg sutra (koje bi nam moglo svanuti prekosutra ili još kasnije, malo sutra). Online prodaja taj gubitak pokušava, ali ne uspijeva premostiti, jer su knjigoljupci ćudljiva čeljad koja kupovanje novih naslova, definiraju, među ostalim, i kao taktilno iskustvo: neusporedivo draže im je prevrtati po hrpama knjiga i listati ih, negoli skrolati mišem do dna popisa ponuđenih libara u digitalnoj knjižari.
No u moru loših ima i jedna dobra vijest. Prosječni pad prodaje u postocima je relativno značajan, ali u apsolutnim iznosima teško da može predstavljati osobito veliki gubitak, jer u nas naklade nisu baš impresivne. Dvadeset ili trideset posto manjka u blagajni kolege Dana Browna, to su, bogami, ozbiljne pare. I meni se srce para kad pomislim koliko bi on, barem u teoriji, mogao izgubiti. Ali, da je Hrvat, ne bi izgubio gotovo ništa.
SPISATELJSKO AMATERSKO DRUŠTVO
Knjige se kod nas ne pišu za kruh, mlijeko i režije, nego za vječnost (dakle, za ništa, rekli bi depresivci i cinici). Ono malo pisaca koji se tako i deklariraju, ili su Miro Gavran ili su, naprosto, nezaposlene dame i gospoda koja svoj tegobni egzistencijalni položaj pokušavaju kamuflirati iza fraze kako, je li, stvaraju umjetnički relevantnu književnost. Svi ostali profesionalci su u nekim drugim zanimanjima i literaturom se bave iz hobija, kao što su neki drugi ljudi zaokupljeni izgradnjom eiffelovih tornjeva od šibica ili vezenjem Wiehlerovih goblena.
Književnost se, naime, u Hrvatskoj definira kao jedina umjetnička grana kojom se bave isključivo amateri. Kod nas je normalno biti glumac, plesač ili glazbenik osam sati dnevno, pet dana tjedno, jedanaest mjeseci godišnje (jer se četiri, pet tjedana dopusta podrazumijevaju). Jednako tako, normalno je biti piscem tek nakon što odradiš osam sati dnevno na nekome drugom, čestitom i pristojno plaćenom poslu. Ili se ne moraš tako štrapacirati. Tko ti brani pisati samo vikendima ili na godišnjem odmoru? Izleti, obiteljski roštilji, ljetovanja, putovanja u strane zemlje... to je ionako precijenjeno, tješe se hrvatski pisci.
Shvatili ste što želim reći. U ovoj su pandemiji izgubili samo oni koji su nešto imali. Književni guzičari sjajno su prošli. Tko nikada nije imao, ne mora se plašiti nikakve nesreće. "Ajme nama, za nas vrijedi ona 'piši propalo'", ponavljaju ovih dana umjetnici iz različitih branši, prognozirajući tešku oskudicu u dugoj, hladnoj & gladnoj zimi. "Oduvijek tako pišemo", mogli bi prisnažiti hrvatski književnici.

Filmaši i kazalištarci, dakle, glumci, glazbenici i plesači, već mjesecima dišu na škrge. Predstave se igraju pred šačicom gledatelja i to samo one koje dobiju zeleno svjetlo epidemiologa, dakle, produkcijski skromni kammerspieli u kojima nije dopušteno pjevati. Filmovi se do daljnjega ne snimaju, što i nije tako loše, jer se oni već snimljeni projiciraju pred rijetkim gledateljima. Toliko rijetkima da danas akcijski spektakli na blagajnama uprihode iznose koje su nekoć zarađivale sumorne rumunjske drame. Kako, međutim, u okolnostima novog normalnog – dakle, potpuno nenormalnog – funkcioniraju pisci? Hvala na pitanju, bez ikakvih problema.
Za početak, održavanje fizičke distance njima ne pada teško, jer oprezni razmak od ostatka stanovništva njeguju i u idealnim vremenima. Pisanje je, kao što vjerojatno slutite, samotnjački posao. U društvu je teško natipkati i žalbu komunalnom poduzeću, a kamoli tek priču ili, ne daj bože, roman, pa se svakodnevica prosječnoga književnika ne razlikuje bitno od one grofa Monte Christa dok je robijao u tamnici koja se zvala kao butelja vina, Château d'If.
PUSTINJAČKI ŽIVOT
I u ona divna vremena dok su virusi harali samo između korica znanstvenofantastične literature, pisci su živjeli kao pustinjaci. Proglašenjem pandemije za njih se ništa neobično i novo nije dogodilo, samo što su njihov dosadni stil života silom prilika morali prigrliti i oni ljudi koji su do jučer živjeli uzbudljivo ili, u najmanju ruku, dinamičnije od književnika.
Kao što se nije promijenila radna rutina pisaca, ni primanja od umjetničkog rada nisu im se bitno reducirala. Naravno, ljudi već mjesecima manje troše, svodeći svoje izdatke na ono što im se čini bitno i bez čega ne mogu, pa je logično da se i knjige manje kupuju. To više jer su sajmovi – od najvećega, Interlibera, do niza manjih – otkazani na neodređeno vrijeme, dakle, do boljeg sutra (koje bi nam moglo svanuti prekosutra ili još kasnije, malo sutra). Online prodaja taj gubitak pokušava, ali ne uspijeva premostiti, jer su knjigoljupci ćudljiva čeljad koja kupovanje novih naslova, definiraju, među ostalim, i kao taktilno iskustvo: neusporedivo draže im je prevrtati po hrpama knjiga i listati ih, negoli skrolati mišem do dna popisa ponuđenih libara u digitalnoj knjižari.
No u moru loših ima i jedna dobra vijest. Prosječni pad prodaje u postocima je relativno značajan, ali u apsolutnim iznosima teško da može predstavljati osobito veliki gubitak, jer u nas naklade nisu baš impresivne. Dvadeset ili trideset posto manjka u blagajni kolege Dana Browna, to su, bogami, ozbiljne pare. I meni se srce para kad pomislim koliko bi on, barem u teoriji, mogao izgubiti. Ali, da je Hrvat, ne bi izgubio gotovo ništa.
SPISATELJSKO AMATERSKO DRUŠTVO
Knjige se kod nas ne pišu za kruh, mlijeko i režije, nego za vječnost (dakle, za ništa, rekli bi depresivci i cinici). Ono malo pisaca koji se tako i deklariraju, ili su Miro Gavran ili su, naprosto, nezaposlene dame i gospoda koja svoj tegobni egzistencijalni položaj pokušavaju kamuflirati iza fraze kako, je li, stvaraju umjetnički relevantnu književnost. Svi ostali profesionalci su u nekim drugim zanimanjima i literaturom se bave iz hobija, kao što su neki drugi ljudi zaokupljeni izgradnjom eiffelovih tornjeva od šibica ili vezenjem Wiehlerovih goblena.
Književnost se, naime, u Hrvatskoj definira kao jedina umjetnička grana kojom se bave isključivo amateri. Kod nas je normalno biti glumac, plesač ili glazbenik osam sati dnevno, pet dana tjedno, jedanaest mjeseci godišnje (jer se četiri, pet tjedana dopusta podrazumijevaju). Jednako tako, normalno je biti piscem tek nakon što odradiš osam sati dnevno na nekome drugom, čestitom i pristojno plaćenom poslu. Ili se ne moraš tako štrapacirati. Tko ti brani pisati samo vikendima ili na godišnjem odmoru? Izleti, obiteljski roštilji, ljetovanja, putovanja u strane zemlje... to je ionako precijenjeno, tješe se hrvatski pisci.
Shvatili ste što želim reći. U ovoj su pandemiji izgubili samo oni koji su nešto imali. Književni guzičari sjajno su prošli. Tko nikada nije imao, ne mora se plašiti nikakve nesreće. "Ajme nama, za nas vrijedi ona 'piši propalo'", ponavljaju ovih dana umjetnici iz različitih branši, prognozirajući tešku oskudicu u dugoj, hladnoj & gladnoj zimi. "Oduvijek tako pišemo", mogli bi prisnažiti hrvatski književnici.
