Taman kad ga nanovo, poslije kinohita "Pobješnjeli Max: Divlja cesta", pomislite titulirati kao definitivnog akcijskog režisera, australski filmaš George Miller opet promijeni fah i predstavi nešto sasvim drukčije – "Tri tisuće godina čežnje" ("Three Thousand Years Of Longing"). No, realno, ako vratimo film od "Tri tisuće godina čežnje" unatrag, Miller je uvijek bio nepredvidljiv mimo serijala "Mad Max", čak i unutar njega.

Nakon postapokaliptično akcijskog "Pobješnjelog Maxa" i njegova nastavka (pod)naslovljenog "Drumski ratnik", "Mad Max 3" je bio više kontemplacija nego akcija, ali sa spektakularnom završnom potjerom dostojnom prethodnika. U vrijeme kad ga se počelo slaviti kao jednog od vodećih akcijskih redatelja osamdesetih, Miller je okrenuo ploču režiravši fantazijsku horor-komediju "Vještice iz Eastwicka" i produciravši triler "Opasno more".

Žanrovsku neuhvatljivost Miller je potom demonstrirao režijom intimne obiteljske drame "Lorenzovo ulje", nastavka "Praščića Babea" i animiranog filma "Ples malog pingvina", za koji je osvojio Oscara.

Raznoliki opus postao je još raznolikiji s romantičnom fantazijom "Three Thousand Years Of Longing", vjerojatno najneobičnijim Millerovim uratkom, neobičnijim i od "Babe: Pig In The City".

Nešto ovako čudno, čudnovato i čudesno mogao je možda potpisati još samo Terry Gilliam ("Brazil") ili Jean-Pierre Jeunet ("Amelie"). Ovo je jedan od "onih" filmova stvorenih da neobičnošću dijele publiku i u tom smislu je usporediv s ostvarenjima kao što su "Fontana života" Darrena Aronofskog, "Sinegdoha, New York" Charlieja Kaufmana, "Gospodin Nitko" Jacoa Van Dormaela, "Drvo života" Terrencea Malicka, "Atlas oblaka" sestara Wachowski i Toma Tykwera ili Gilliamov "Nulti teorem"...

Svaki od tih filmova je filozofski i egzistencijalistički nastrojen, snimljen s golemom ambicijom i specifičnom vizijom koju jedni mogu voljeti ili barem cijeniti, a drugima može biti bizarna i "too much" u neobičnosti. Kratki uvid u "Tri tisuće godina čežnje" preko sinopsisa i nekih kadrova s likovima dlakavih nogu i šiljatih ušiju pripremio je pisca ovih redaka na moguću potonju varijantu (bizaran i "too much" u neobičnosti).

"Three Thousand Years Of Longing" to i jest, no Miller je polako kupio ovog gledatelja i apsorbirao ga u priču da je film već prije isteka prve polovice bilo lako cijeniti, a do odjavne špice – i nakon nje – možda čak i zavoljeti. "Možda" jer vrijeme će pokazati je li ljubav s "Tri tisuće godina čežnje" trajna (I love you 3000?), ali u ovom vremenu, danas, sada i ovdje, film je ugodno iznenađenje i osvježenje na kinorepertoaru – nije nastavak ni prednastavak, ne pripada nekom proširenom franšiznom svemiru niti je ekranizacija brenda.

Adaptirajući novelu "The Djinn In The Nightingale‘s Eye" A.S. Byatta uz dosta autorske slobode, Miller je, maštovit i zaigran kao da mu nije 77 godina, snimio svoju verziju "Tisuću i jedne noći", prilično originalnu meta(tekstualnu/filmsku) bajku s konceptom priče u/o priči. Film o prirodi pripovijedanja i pričanja priče u slavu pripovjedača i priča kao takvih režiran je na pola puta između znanosti i mita, historije i fantazije, repertoarnog i umjetničkog filma.

Nije iznenađenje da je "Three Thousand Years Of Longing" imao svjetsku premijeru u Cannesu kao film sa zvijezdama rado viđenim na crvenom tepihu Idrisom Elbom i Tildom Swinton, ali i komad "world cinema" egzotike koji se odvija u Istanbulu kroz stoljeća i u njemu glume turski glumci i glumice (izdvaja se Burcu Gölgedar kao Zefir).

Swinton glumi usamljenu britansku naratologinju Alitheu Binnie koja proučava priče, stigla je na konferenciju u Istanbul i odsjela u tamošnjem gotelu gdje je Agatha Christie napisala "Ubojstvo u Orient Expressu". Alithea smatra da je za ljude od prapovijesti čovječanstva važno prenositi priče jedni drugima i odbija prihvatiti da su likovi iz bajki i mitova, zbog znanstvenih obašnjenja, postali metafore.

Priča koju će Alithea ispričati je "istinita", ali svjesna je da ćemo joj prije povjerovati ako kaže da je bajka i zato započinje s "jednom davno...". Na konferenciji Alithea ima viziju neobičnog bića u publici i onesvijesti se. "Ponese me mašta", objašnjava nakon što dođe sebi. Kad u jednom antiknom dućanu kupi staru dekorativnu bocu i odluči je ispolirati četkicom za zube u hotelskoj sobi, Alithea oslobađa zatočenog džina (Elba) koji joj želi ispuniti tri želje.

"Koja je vaša prva?" pita džin, inzistirajući da želi ispuniti "želju vašeg srca". Upoznata s prevarantskom naravi džinova, Alithea ga želi najprije upoznati i tako započinje njegova priča o tome kako je proveo posljednjih 3000 godina čežnje, koga je sve upoznao, ljubio itd. Prva priča "flashbackovske" strukture tiče se kraljice Shebe (Aamito Lagum), "utjelovljenja ljepote".

Shebu je džin volio, ali ga je kralj Solomon (Nicolas Mouawad) čarolijom zatočio u mjedenu bocu. Ova priča postavlja čvrste temelje za Millerovu povijesno utemeljenu fantaziju koja slobodno prepričava stoljetne mitove pričajući o ljubavi, sudbini i moći pripovijedanja snažnijoj od čežnje i samoće. Kako džin sve više pripovijeda o svojoj samoći i čežnji, tako Alithea postaje sve više svjesna vlastitih osjećaja tog tipa dok se njih dvoje zbližavaju i postaju "autori ove priče".

Moć samoće i samoća moći pretočeni u priču najviše intrigiraju Millera: nakon "Mad Max: Fury Road" i pričanja priče u akcijskim slikama, redatelj je iznjedrio vrlo narativan, ali i dalje iznimno vizualan film zahvaljujući i njegovu čestom snimatelju, oskarovcu Johnu Sealeu ("Svjedok", "Autostoper", "Policijska zasjeda", "Kišni čovjek", "Društvo mrtvih pjesnika", "Engleski pacijent", "Oluja svih oluja"), istodobno romantično intiman i budžetski grandiozan.

Statičnost hotelske sobe, gdje džin priča Alithei priču, Miller kompenzira prostorno-vremenskom razvedenošću u flešbekovima u kojima do izražaja dolaze vješto ukomponirani računalni efekti i bajkovita fotografija. Neke scene spadaju među vizualno najljepše ove godine i šire. Zefirino sanjanje na javi pamtit ćemo idućih 3000 godina.

Mlađa verzija Furiose

Miller upravo snima prednastavak posljednjeg "Mad Maxa" nazvan Furiosa po akcijskom ženskom liku koji je tumačila Charlize Theron. Mlađu verziju Furiose glumi Anya-Taylor Joy ("Vještica", "Damin gambit", "Posljednja noć u Sohou", "Sjevernjak").

Taman kad ga nanovo, poslije kinohita "Pobješnjeli Max: Divlja cesta", pomislite titulirati kao definitivnog akcijskog režisera, australski filmaš George Miller opet promijeni fah i predstavi nešto sasvim drukčije – "Tri tisuće godina čežnje" ("Three Thousand Years Of Longing"). No, realno, ako vratimo film od "Tri tisuće godina čežnje" unatrag, Miller je uvijek bio nepredvidljiv mimo serijala "Mad Max", čak i unutar njega.

Nakon postapokaliptično akcijskog "Pobješnjelog Maxa" i njegova nastavka (pod)naslovljenog "Drumski ratnik", "Mad Max 3" je bio više kontemplacija nego akcija, ali sa spektakularnom završnom potjerom dostojnom prethodnika. U vrijeme kad ga se počelo slaviti kao jednog od vodećih akcijskih redatelja osamdesetih, Miller je okrenuo ploču režiravši fantazijsku horor-komediju "Vještice iz Eastwicka" i produciravši triler "Opasno more".

Žanrovsku neuhvatljivost Miller je potom demonstrirao režijom intimne obiteljske drame "Lorenzovo ulje", nastavka "Praščića Babea" i animiranog filma "Ples malog pingvina", za koji je osvojio Oscara.

Raznoliki opus postao je još raznolikiji s romantičnom fantazijom "Three Thousand Years Of Longing", vjerojatno najneobičnijim Millerovim uratkom, neobičnijim i od "Babe: Pig In The City".

Nešto ovako čudno, čudnovato i čudesno mogao je možda potpisati još samo Terry Gilliam ("Brazil") ili Jean-Pierre Jeunet ("Amelie"). Ovo je jedan od "onih" filmova stvorenih da neobičnošću dijele publiku i u tom smislu je usporediv s ostvarenjima kao što su "Fontana života" Darrena Aronofskog, "Sinegdoha, New York" Charlieja Kaufmana, "Gospodin Nitko" Jacoa Van Dormaela, "Drvo života" Terrencea Malicka, "Atlas oblaka" sestara Wachowski i Toma Tykwera ili Gilliamov "Nulti teorem"...

Svaki od tih filmova je filozofski i egzistencijalistički nastrojen, snimljen s golemom ambicijom i specifičnom vizijom koju jedni mogu voljeti ili barem cijeniti, a drugima može biti bizarna i "too much" u neobičnosti. Kratki uvid u "Tri tisuće godina čežnje" preko sinopsisa i nekih kadrova s likovima dlakavih nogu i šiljatih ušiju pripremio je pisca ovih redaka na moguću potonju varijantu (bizaran i "too much" u neobičnosti).

"Three Thousand Years Of Longing" to i jest, no Miller je polako kupio ovog gledatelja i apsorbirao ga u priču da je film već prije isteka prve polovice bilo lako cijeniti, a do odjavne špice – i nakon nje – možda čak i zavoljeti. "Možda" jer vrijeme će pokazati je li ljubav s "Tri tisuće godina čežnje" trajna (I love you 3000?), ali u ovom vremenu, danas, sada i ovdje, film je ugodno iznenađenje i osvježenje na kinorepertoaru – nije nastavak ni prednastavak, ne pripada nekom proširenom franšiznom svemiru niti je ekranizacija brenda.

Adaptirajući novelu "The Djinn In The Nightingale‘s Eye" A.S. Byatta uz dosta autorske slobode, Miller je, maštovit i zaigran kao da mu nije 77 godina, snimio svoju verziju "Tisuću i jedne noći", prilično originalnu meta(tekstualnu/filmsku) bajku s konceptom priče u/o priči. Film o prirodi pripovijedanja i pričanja priče u slavu pripovjedača i priča kao takvih režiran je na pola puta između znanosti i mita, historije i fantazije, repertoarnog i umjetničkog filma.

Nije iznenađenje da je "Three Thousand Years Of Longing" imao svjetsku premijeru u Cannesu kao film sa zvijezdama rado viđenim na crvenom tepihu Idrisom Elbom i Tildom Swinton, ali i komad "world cinema" egzotike koji se odvija u Istanbulu kroz stoljeća i u njemu glume turski glumci i glumice (izdvaja se Burcu Gölgedar kao Zefir).

Swinton glumi usamljenu britansku naratologinju Alitheu Binnie koja proučava priče, stigla je na konferenciju u Istanbul i odsjela u tamošnjem gotelu gdje je Agatha Christie napisala "Ubojstvo u Orient Expressu". Alithea smatra da je za ljude od prapovijesti čovječanstva važno prenositi priče jedni drugima i odbija prihvatiti da su likovi iz bajki i mitova, zbog znanstvenih obašnjenja, postali metafore.

Priča koju će Alithea ispričati je "istinita", ali svjesna je da ćemo joj prije povjerovati ako kaže da je bajka i zato započinje s "jednom davno...". Na konferenciji Alithea ima viziju neobičnog bića u publici i onesvijesti se. "Ponese me mašta", objašnjava nakon što dođe sebi. Kad u jednom antiknom dućanu kupi staru dekorativnu bocu i odluči je ispolirati četkicom za zube u hotelskoj sobi, Alithea oslobađa zatočenog džina (Elba) koji joj želi ispuniti tri želje.

"Koja je vaša prva?" pita džin, inzistirajući da želi ispuniti "želju vašeg srca". Upoznata s prevarantskom naravi džinova, Alithea ga želi najprije upoznati i tako započinje njegova priča o tome kako je proveo posljednjih 3000 godina čežnje, koga je sve upoznao, ljubio itd. Prva priča "flashbackovske" strukture tiče se kraljice Shebe (Aamito Lagum), "utjelovljenja ljepote".

Shebu je džin volio, ali ga je kralj Solomon (Nicolas Mouawad) čarolijom zatočio u mjedenu bocu. Ova priča postavlja čvrste temelje za Millerovu povijesno utemeljenu fantaziju koja slobodno prepričava stoljetne mitove pričajući o ljubavi, sudbini i moći pripovijedanja snažnijoj od čežnje i samoće. Kako džin sve više pripovijeda o svojoj samoći i čežnji, tako Alithea postaje sve više svjesna vlastitih osjećaja tog tipa dok se njih dvoje zbližavaju i postaju "autori ove priče".

Moć samoće i samoća moći pretočeni u priču najviše intrigiraju Millera: nakon "Mad Max: Fury Road" i pričanja priče u akcijskim slikama, redatelj je iznjedrio vrlo narativan, ali i dalje iznimno vizualan film zahvaljujući i njegovu čestom snimatelju, oskarovcu Johnu Sealeu ("Svjedok", "Autostoper", "Policijska zasjeda", "Kišni čovjek", "Društvo mrtvih pjesnika", "Engleski pacijent", "Oluja svih oluja"), istodobno romantično intiman i budžetski grandiozan.

Statičnost hotelske sobe, gdje džin priča Alithei priču, Miller kompenzira prostorno-vremenskom razvedenošću u flešbekovima u kojima do izražaja dolaze vješto ukomponirani računalni efekti i bajkovita fotografija. Neke scene spadaju među vizualno najljepše ove godine i šire. Zefirino sanjanje na javi pamtit ćemo idućih 3000 godina.

Mlađa verzija Furiose

Miller upravo snima prednastavak posljednjeg "Mad Maxa" nazvan Furiosa po akcijskom ženskom liku koji je tumačila Charlize Theron. Mlađu verziju Furiose glumi Anya-Taylor Joy ("Vještica", "Damin gambit", "Posljednja noć u Sohou", "Sjevernjak").
