Nakon pet vikenada najkontroverznija serija godine "Idol"/"The Idol" stigla je ove nedjelje napokon do posljednje epizode.

Novi serijski projekt kreatora sjajne "Euforije" Sama Levinsona nametala se kao veliki ovogodišnji adut HBO-a koji je premijeru svake nove epizode tempirao za vikend, valjda kako bi kapitalizirao na tome da glavnu mušku ulogu, debitirajući kao glumac, igra glazbena zvijezda The Weeknd (pod pravim imenom Abel Tesfaye), ujedno i jedan od autora priče.

Pored toga, "Idol" je očajnički želio kapitalizirati na senzaciji, (s)eksploataciji, skandalu i kontroverziji, od scena seksa i masturbacije do neslane šale na račun seksualnog prijestupnika Jeffreyja Epsteina, što se seriji u konačnici obilo o glavu. "The Idol" je neslavno završio, iako je počeo razmjerno obećavajuće.

Prva epizoda je sugerirala da bi serija mogla istraživati tamnu stranu slave, tj. biti satira na račun glazbene industrije i njezinih zvijezda, ali to na kraju nije isporučila. Upoznajemo pop-zvijezdu Jocelyn (solidna Lily-Rose Depp, Johnnyjeva kćerka) dok snima naslovnicu za povratnički album nakon mentalnog sloma i vježba plesnu koreografiju.

Vidljiva je sličnost s Britney Spears koja je i spomenuta u istoj rečenici s Jocelyn, premda fanovi Selene Gomez, bivše Weekndove djevojke, pronalaze i neke paralele između nje i glavnog ženskog lika. "Ono što su Britney i Jocelyn prošle je jedinstveno... ali univerzalno", čujemo, a tu negdje odjekne i rečenica "Mentalna bolest je seksi".

Planove za Jocelyn "comeback", nakon što ju je "seksi" mentalna bolest izbacila s tračnica, poljuljat će skandal u vidu curenja njezine opscene fotke sa spermom na licu ("pornografija iz osvete"). Netom prije toga netko kaže za Jocelyn da je "nova Bardot", kao i da sliči na Sharon Tate.

Time kao da se nesuptilno najavljuje Weekndov lik Tedros, vlasnik kluba, svodnik i vođa kvazi-mansonovskog kulta koji neće ubiti Jocelyn, ali je sadist i odašilje "silovateljske vibre", kako primjećuje njezina asistentica Leia (Rachel Sennott). On upravo zbog toga i privlači pop-zvijezdu, čak i kad joj kaže kako zvuči kao da se "ne zna ševiti" jer prepoznaje to u njezinu glasu, tj. vokalnoj izvedbi.

Kad Tedros počne menadžersko-producentsko-svodnički kontrolirati Jocelynu karijeru i život u narednim epizodama, "Idol" puca po narativnim i inim šavovima, dijelom i zbog krajnje neuvjerljivog Weeknda, ali i naprasnog kraja (planiranih šest epizoda svelo se na pet).

Početak serije nudio je potencijal da bude nekakav glazbeno-industrijski odgovor na "Showgirls", satira u stilu Paula Verhoevena čiji erotski triler "Sirove strasti" Jocelyn i Leia gledaju u jednoj sceni.

Međutim, Verhoevenov film je imao osjećaja za subverziju u pogledu provokacija i kontroverzija, kao i prepoznatljiv autorski pečat. Ništa od toga ovdje nema: serija je šuplja i isprazna, nasušno joj fali ne samo prave subverzivnosti, nego i identiteta i osobnosti.

Nijedna kontroverzna scena nije baš tako kontroverzna kako se priča, osim ako vam "The Idol" nije jedan od prvih susreta sa seksom i golotinjom pred kamerama, pa makar se to medijski podvlačilo pod "sadističku pornografiju".

Stječe se dojam kako se serija toliko trudila zakovitlati medijsku senzaciju i šok jer je to bio jedini adut da skrene pozornost na sebe. Najšokantnija stvar u vezi "Idola" jest da nije ni blizu šokantan koliko bi želio biti.

Nakon pet vikenada najkontroverznija serija godine "Idol"/"The Idol" stigla je ove nedjelje napokon do posljednje epizode.

Novi serijski projekt kreatora sjajne "Euforije" Sama Levinsona nametala se kao veliki ovogodišnji adut HBO-a koji je premijeru svake nove epizode tempirao za vikend, valjda kako bi kapitalizirao na tome da glavnu mušku ulogu, debitirajući kao glumac, igra glazbena zvijezda The Weeknd (pod pravim imenom Abel Tesfaye), ujedno i jedan od autora priče.

Pored toga, "Idol" je očajnički želio kapitalizirati na senzaciji, (s)eksploataciji, skandalu i kontroverziji, od scena seksa i masturbacije do neslane šale na račun seksualnog prijestupnika Jeffreyja Epsteina, što se seriji u konačnici obilo o glavu. "The Idol" je neslavno završio, iako je počeo razmjerno obećavajuće.

Prva epizoda je sugerirala da bi serija mogla istraživati tamnu stranu slave, tj. biti satira na račun glazbene industrije i njezinih zvijezda, ali to na kraju nije isporučila. Upoznajemo pop-zvijezdu Jocelyn (solidna Lily-Rose Depp, Johnnyjeva kćerka) dok snima naslovnicu za povratnički album nakon mentalnog sloma i vježba plesnu koreografiju.

Vidljiva je sličnost s Britney Spears koja je i spomenuta u istoj rečenici s Jocelyn, premda fanovi Selene Gomez, bivše Weekndove djevojke, pronalaze i neke paralele između nje i glavnog ženskog lika. "Ono što su Britney i Jocelyn prošle je jedinstveno... ali univerzalno", čujemo, a tu negdje odjekne i rečenica "Mentalna bolest je seksi".

Planove za Jocelyn "comeback", nakon što ju je "seksi" mentalna bolest izbacila s tračnica, poljuljat će skandal u vidu curenja njezine opscene fotke sa spermom na licu ("pornografija iz osvete"). Netom prije toga netko kaže za Jocelyn da je "nova Bardot", kao i da sliči na Sharon Tate.

Time kao da se nesuptilno najavljuje Weekndov lik Tedros, vlasnik kluba, svodnik i vođa kvazi-mansonovskog kulta koji neće ubiti Jocelyn, ali je sadist i odašilje "silovateljske vibre", kako primjećuje njezina asistentica Leia (Rachel Sennott). On upravo zbog toga i privlači pop-zvijezdu, čak i kad joj kaže kako zvuči kao da se "ne zna ševiti" jer prepoznaje to u njezinu glasu, tj. vokalnoj izvedbi.

Kad Tedros počne menadžersko-producentsko-svodnički kontrolirati Jocelynu karijeru i život u narednim epizodama, "Idol" puca po narativnim i inim šavovima, dijelom i zbog krajnje neuvjerljivog Weeknda, ali i naprasnog kraja (planiranih šest epizoda svelo se na pet).

Početak serije nudio je potencijal da bude nekakav glazbeno-industrijski odgovor na "Showgirls", satira u stilu Paula Verhoevena čiji erotski triler "Sirove strasti" Jocelyn i Leia gledaju u jednoj sceni.

Međutim, Verhoevenov film je imao osjećaja za subverziju u pogledu provokacija i kontroverzija, kao i prepoznatljiv autorski pečat. Ništa od toga ovdje nema: serija je šuplja i isprazna, nasušno joj fali ne samo prave subverzivnosti, nego i identiteta i osobnosti.

Stječe se dojam kako se serija toliko trudila zakovitlati medijsku senzaciju i šok jer je to bio jedini adut da skrene pozornost na sebe. Najšokantnija stvar u vezi "Idola" jest da nije ni blizu šokantan koliko bi želio biti.
