"Odmah ću reći da će vam ovo biti teško čuti", govori jedan od policijskih detektiva Lionelu Dahmeru (Richard Jenkins), ocu zlolasnog serijskog ubojice kanibalskih i nekrofilskih sklonosti Jeffreyja Dahmera (Evan Peters). Otac nije imao pojma za sinove gnusne zločine.

"Kad ste rekli da istražujete umorstvo, mislio sam da žele ubiti njega", naivno veli Lionel koji će ostati sablaznut spoznajom da Jeffrey, znan kao "Milwaukee Monster" i "Kanibal iz Milwaukeeja", nije samo brutalno ubio 17 mladih ljudi od 1978. do 1991., nego i pojeo neke žrtve.

Lionelova reakcija seli se na gledatelja kojemu je detektiv između redaka izdao upozorenje kao i Jeffreyjevu ocu. Netflixova serija "Dahmer – Monstrum: priča o Jeffreyju Dahmeru", izvorno "Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story", za neke je gledatelje "too much" već do tog trenutka. Pojedini gledatelji ne uspijevaju doći dalje od prve dvije epizode od njih ukupno deset. To je shvatljivo.

"Dahmer" je prilično nelagodna serija i zasigurno teški horor za nekoga tko, recimo, nije ušao u svijet "serial killer" filmova preko "Kad jaganjci utihnu" Jonathana Demmeja i Fincherove "Sedmice" ili "Zodijaka", kamoli ako nije gledao "Kuću koju je izgradio Jack" Larsa Von Triera i "Zlatnu rukavicu" Fatiha Akina, eventualno i nedavnog "Svetog pauka" Alija Abassija.

Primjerice, "Krajnje izopačen, nepojmljivo zao i opak" s Zacom Efronom u ulozi jednako zloglasnog serijskog ubojice Teda Bundyja dođe kao kamilica u usporedbi s "Dahmerom". Od prve epizode serija koju ko-kreatorski potpisuje Netflixov igrač Ryan Murphy ("Hollywood", "Halston"), iskusan i kad su u pitanju hororskiji sadržaji ("American Horror Stories", "Ratched"), trudi se dočarati nelagodu.

Susjeda Glenda (Niecy Nash) žali se da iz Jeffreyjeva stana "Smrdi gore nego ikad prije" i taj smrad dopire iz ekrana. Dahmer se na to pravda da se "meso pokvarilo", a zatim i da su mu krepale tropske ribice u pokušajima crnog humora a la "Američki psiho". Ipak, "Dahmeru" nije do humora, samo "true crime drama" horora u spoznaji da i vaš susjed može biti ubojica, "gay serial killer koji jede ljude".

"Svi smo živjeli kraj njega cijelo vrijeme", govore susjedi nakon što policija uhiti Jeffreyja. Iako, Glenda je duže vremena sumnjala da se nešto čudno u Dahmerovu stanu događa, ali policija nije trzala, čak ni kad je jedna njegova žrtva, krvava i omamljena od droge, s lisičinama na ruci, uspjela pobjeći jer je Jeffrey uvjerio policajce da su ljubavnici i da se mladić opio.

Policija je okretala glavu zato što su Dahmerove žrtve bili najčešće crnci ili mladići nebijele boje kože; možda tako ne bi bilo da je ubijao bijelce, stoga je tamnoputi baptistički svećenik i aktivist za građanska prava Jesse Jackson (Nigel Gibbs) izjavio da su njegova ubojstva "metafora za sve što je krivo" u Americi.

Politička perspektiva je načeta u vrlo dobroj seriji s većinskim redateljskim potpisom Jennifer Lynch ("Helenina kutija", "Nadzor"), kćerka slavnog Davida ("Twin Peaks", "Plavi baršun", "Twin Peaks: Vatro, hodaj sa mnom", "Mulholland Drive"), koja je u ekskluzivnom intervjuu za "Slobodnu" prije točno deset godina izjavila "Zanimaju me čudovišta".

Međutim, još je zanimljivija perspektiva Dahmerovih žrtava, njihovih i njegovih (razvedenih) roditelja, najviše oca Lionela. Cijela jedna epizoda posvećena je Tonyju Hughesu (Rodney Burford), gluhonijemom crncu s kojim se Jeffrey zbližio, ali ga je svejedno ubio. Struktura serije njeguje razbijenu kronologiju, što odgovara Dahmerovom razbijenom umu, premda će on za sebe reći "nisam lud", a žrtve je drogirao jer "nije želio da pate".

Prva polovica je karakterna studija serijskog ubojice u dojmljivom tumačenju Petersa (serijal "X-Men", serija "Mare iz Easttowna") koja se vraća i u ubojičino djetinjstvo, kad je s ocem rezao i secirao strvine pronađene uz cestu, što je sam nastavio raditi, a zbog čega će se Lionel kasnije kajati u izvrsno glumljenoj sceni njegova tumača Jenkinsa.

"Nisam trebao raditi ono s ubijenim životinjama", kaže Lionel nakon što je prethodno rekao da je "čudan, tih, dobar dječak teško podnio razvod", a i otkrio da je Jeffrey možda pretrpio oštećenje mozga zbog previše anestezije prilikom operacije bruha. Pitajući se između redaka bi li Dahmer bio drukčiji da nije imao takvo djetinjstvo, serija nipošto ne "glamurizira" ili "fetišizira" zločine tipa koji je dobivao pisma obožavatelj(ic)a u zatvoru, s njime ne suosjeća, niti mu oprašta što je napravio.

Naprotiv, Jeffrey pred kraj vlastite serije biva bačen u drugi plan i postaje gotovo sporedan lik nauštrb oca i žrtava, možda i zato da autori ublaže morbidnu fascinaciju publike prema serijskim ubojicama. Morbidna fascinacija već je dokazana time što je "Dahmer" trenutno najveći serijski hit na Netflixu i ostvario je rekordnu gledanost u prvom tjednu, detroniziravši "Igru lignje".

"Odmah ću reći da će vam ovo biti teško čuti", govori jedan od policijskih detektiva Lionelu Dahmeru (Richard Jenkins), ocu zlolasnog serijskog ubojice kanibalskih i nekrofilskih sklonosti Jeffreyja Dahmera (Evan Peters). Otac nije imao pojma za sinove gnusne zločine.

"Kad ste rekli da istražujete umorstvo, mislio sam da žele ubiti njega", naivno veli Lionel koji će ostati sablaznut spoznajom da Jeffrey, znan kao "Milwaukee Monster" i "Kanibal iz Milwaukeeja", nije samo brutalno ubio 17 mladih ljudi od 1978. do 1991., nego i pojeo neke žrtve.

Lionelova reakcija seli se na gledatelja kojemu je detektiv između redaka izdao upozorenje kao i Jeffreyjevu ocu. Netflixova serija "Dahmer – Monstrum: priča o Jeffreyju Dahmeru", izvorno "Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story", za neke je gledatelje "too much" već do tog trenutka. Pojedini gledatelji ne uspijevaju doći dalje od prve dvije epizode od njih ukupno deset. To je shvatljivo.

"Dahmer" je prilično nelagodna serija i zasigurno teški horor za nekoga tko, recimo, nije ušao u svijet "serial killer" filmova preko "Kad jaganjci utihnu" Jonathana Demmeja i Fincherove "Sedmice" ili "Zodijaka", kamoli ako nije gledao "Kuću koju je izgradio Jack" Larsa Von Triera i "Zlatnu rukavicu" Fatiha Akina, eventualno i nedavnog "Svetog pauka" Alija Abassija.

Primjerice, "Krajnje izopačen, nepojmljivo zao i opak" s Zacom Efronom u ulozi jednako zloglasnog serijskog ubojice Teda Bundyja dođe kao kamilica u usporedbi s "Dahmerom". Od prve epizode serija koju ko-kreatorski potpisuje Netflixov igrač Ryan Murphy ("Hollywood", "Halston"), iskusan i kad su u pitanju hororskiji sadržaji ("American Horror Stories", "Ratched"), trudi se dočarati nelagodu.

Susjeda Glenda (Niecy Nash) žali se da iz Jeffreyjeva stana "Smrdi gore nego ikad prije" i taj smrad dopire iz ekrana. Dahmer se na to pravda da se "meso pokvarilo", a zatim i da su mu krepale tropske ribice u pokušajima crnog humora a la "Američki psiho". Ipak, "Dahmeru" nije do humora, samo "true crime drama" horora u spoznaji da i vaš susjed može biti ubojica, "gay serial killer koji jede ljude".

"Svi smo živjeli kraj njega cijelo vrijeme", govore susjedi nakon što policija uhiti Jeffreyja. Iako, Glenda je duže vremena sumnjala da se nešto čudno u Dahmerovu stanu događa, ali policija nije trzala, čak ni kad je jedna njegova žrtva, krvava i omamljena od droge, s lisičinama na ruci, uspjela pobjeći jer je Jeffrey uvjerio policajce da su ljubavnici i da se mladić opio.

Policija je okretala glavu zato što su Dahmerove žrtve bili najčešće crnci ili mladići nebijele boje kože; možda tako ne bi bilo da je ubijao bijelce, stoga je tamnoputi baptistički svećenik i aktivist za građanska prava Jesse Jackson (Nigel Gibbs) izjavio da su njegova ubojstva "metafora za sve što je krivo" u Americi.

Politička perspektiva je načeta u vrlo dobroj seriji s većinskim redateljskim potpisom Jennifer Lynch ("Helenina kutija", "Nadzor"), kćerka slavnog Davida ("Twin Peaks", "Plavi baršun", "Twin Peaks: Vatro, hodaj sa mnom", "Mulholland Drive"), koja je u ekskluzivnom intervjuu za "Slobodnu" prije točno deset godina izjavila "Zanimaju me čudovišta".

Međutim, još je zanimljivija perspektiva Dahmerovih žrtava, njihovih i njegovih (razvedenih) roditelja, najviše oca Lionela. Cijela jedna epizoda posvećena je Tonyju Hughesu (Rodney Burford), gluhonijemom crncu s kojim se Jeffrey zbližio, ali ga je svejedno ubio. Struktura serije njeguje razbijenu kronologiju, što odgovara Dahmerovom razbijenom umu, premda će on za sebe reći "nisam lud", a žrtve je drogirao jer "nije želio da pate".

Prva polovica je karakterna studija serijskog ubojice u dojmljivom tumačenju Petersa (serijal "X-Men", serija "Mare iz Easttowna") koja se vraća i u ubojičino djetinjstvo, kad je s ocem rezao i secirao strvine pronađene uz cestu, što je sam nastavio raditi, a zbog čega će se Lionel kasnije kajati u izvrsno glumljenoj sceni njegova tumača Jenkinsa.

"Nisam trebao raditi ono s ubijenim životinjama", kaže Lionel nakon što je prethodno rekao da je "čudan, tih, dobar dječak teško podnio razvod", a i otkrio da je Jeffrey možda pretrpio oštećenje mozga zbog previše anestezije prilikom operacije bruha. Pitajući se između redaka bi li Dahmer bio drukčiji da nije imao takvo djetinjstvo, serija nipošto ne "glamurizira" ili "fetišizira" zločine tipa koji je dobivao pisma obožavatelj(ic)a u zatvoru, s njime ne suosjeća, niti mu oprašta što je napravio.

Naprotiv, Jeffrey pred kraj vlastite serije biva bačen u drugi plan i postaje gotovo sporedan lik nauštrb oca i žrtava, možda i zato da autori ublaže morbidnu fascinaciju publike prema serijskim ubojicama. Morbidna fascinacija već je dokazana time što je "Dahmer" trenutno najveći serijski hit na Netflixu i ostvario je rekordnu gledanost u prvom tjednu, detroniziravši "Igru lignje".
