Prošloljetni raritet se ponavlja. U srpnju 2021. hrvatska kina su prikazala novi film Noela Blomkampa "Demonic" prije svih ostalih kina svijeta. Godinu dana kasnije, sudeći po IMDb-ovoj "release dates" sekciji, opet prvi prikazujemo jedan film u kojem jednu od uloga igra i oskarovac Russell Crowe – "Boksač: Život Jema Belchera" ("Prizefighter: The Life Of Jem Belcher").

Američka premijera boksačkog "Života Jema Belchera" zakazana je za 22. srpnja, tjedan dana nakon početka hrvatske kinodistribucije filma, a koncem mjeseca, tj. u prvoj polovici kolovoza, slijedi njegovo prikazivanje u Portugalu i Singapuru.

Osim što se, očito, prikazao najprije u Hrvatskoj, "Prizefighter: The Life Of Jem Belcher" igra u kinima istovremeno kad je na HTV-u počeo ciklus filmova iz serijala o legendarnom boksaču teške kategorije Rockyja Balboe.

Bez britanskog boksača Jema Belchera (1781. – 1811.) tko zna bi li bilo Rockyja Balboe i modernog boksa. Belcher je davne 1800. postao prvak Engleske u dobi od samo 19 godina i smatra se zaslužnim za to što se primitivni šaketački boks pretvorio u današnji kraljevski sport. Pa opet, bez "Rockyja" ne bi bilo "Života Jema Belchera".

To što je onomad anonimni Sylvester Stallone inzistirao na tome da utjelovi Rockyja u filmu koji je potpisao kao scenarist zasigurno je inspiriralo nepoznatog glumca Matta Hookingsa da napiše scenarij i odigra glavnu ulogu u "Prizefighteru", uz ljubav prema boksu naslijeđenu od oca Davida "Bombera" Pearcea, britanskog šampiona u teškoj kategoriji.

Hookings za to zaslužuje respekt, ali nažalost on nije glumački i scenaristički kalibar Stallonea, niti je "Boksač" u rangu "Rockyja III" i "IV", kamoli prvog. Gledljiv, no generički film većinski je napisan po uzoru na "Rocky" formulu, ako se izuzme prva trećina kao njegov najdojmljiviji segment.

Nakon uvodne scene boksa iz 1805., kad Belchera vidimo gadno okrvavljenog, priča se vraća u njegovo djetinjstvo. Mali Jem dolazi gledati djeda Jacka (Crowe) kako se boksa golim šakama. "Voli gledati djeda kad se tuče", Jack govori Jemovoj majci Mary (Jodhi May; "Posljednji Mohikanac").

"Nema to u sebi", tvrdi Mary za sina, nadajući se toplo da neće poći njegovim boksačkim stopama. "Polako, tek je dječak, svi smo istog kova", zaključi Jack koji Jema podučava da jedna ruka prati drugu i da treba znati podnijeti nasilje, ne ga samo nanijeti.

Crowe je raspložen (glumio je boksača i u filmu "Cinderella Man"), stoga je prava šteta da ima minutažu kao da je zvijezda direktno-na-video akcića poput Brucea Willisa i Mela Gibsona. Iako, u neku ruku Crowe to i jest budući da "Prizefighter" ima povremeno neoprostivo lošu fotografiju direktno-na-video (ne)kvalitete, naročito u interijerima, koja dodatno upropaštava ionako kamerno nepregledne scene boksa.

Veću minutažu od Crowea ima Ray Winstone u ulozi trenera/menadžera Billa Warra koji prepoznaje talent u Jemu ("Sirov si, ali uz malo usmjeravanja..."), kao i to da mu je boks u krvi. Bill uči Jema da se meč dobiva u glavi i vodi ga do statusa prvaka i prvog boksača koji je imao svoj model igračaka, ali nakon uspona, klasika, slijedi pad do idućeg povratničkog meča.

Formulaična struktura filma lakše bi se podnijela da "Prizefighter" češće ponudi nešto neviđeno (npr. "rockyjevski" trening u blatu) i da nas uspije nagnati da istinski, a ne po "defaultu", navijamo za Jema kao što smo navijali za Rockyja. Osoban projekt za Hookingsa realiziran je s premalo osob(e)nosti da bi Belcher ušao u filmsku legendu kao Balboa.

Prošloljetni raritet se ponavlja. U srpnju 2021. hrvatska kina su prikazala novi film Noela Blomkampa "Demonic" prije svih ostalih kina svijeta. Godinu dana kasnije, sudeći po IMDb-ovoj "release dates" sekciji, opet prvi prikazujemo jedan film u kojem jednu od uloga igra i oskarovac Russell Crowe – "Boksač: Život Jema Belchera" ("Prizefighter: The Life Of Jem Belcher").

Američka premijera boksačkog "Života Jema Belchera" zakazana je za 22. srpnja, tjedan dana nakon početka hrvatske kinodistribucije filma, a koncem mjeseca, tj. u prvoj polovici kolovoza, slijedi njegovo prikazivanje u Portugalu i Singapuru.

Osim što se, očito, prikazao najprije u Hrvatskoj, "Prizefighter: The Life Of Jem Belcher" igra u kinima istovremeno kad je na HTV-u počeo ciklus filmova iz serijala o legendarnom boksaču teške kategorije Rockyja Balboe.

Bez britanskog boksača Jema Belchera (1781. – 1811.) tko zna bi li bilo Rockyja Balboe i modernog boksa. Belcher je davne 1800. postao prvak Engleske u dobi od samo 19 godina i smatra se zaslužnim za to što se primitivni šaketački boks pretvorio u današnji kraljevski sport. Pa opet, bez "Rockyja" ne bi bilo "Života Jema Belchera".

To što je onomad anonimni Sylvester Stallone inzistirao na tome da utjelovi Rockyja u filmu koji je potpisao kao scenarist zasigurno je inspiriralo nepoznatog glumca Matta Hookingsa da napiše scenarij i odigra glavnu ulogu u "Prizefighteru", uz ljubav prema boksu naslijeđenu od oca Davida "Bombera" Pearcea, britanskog šampiona u teškoj kategoriji.

Hookings za to zaslužuje respekt, ali nažalost on nije glumački i scenaristički kalibar Stallonea, niti je "Boksač" u rangu "Rockyja III" i "IV", kamoli prvog. Gledljiv, no generički film većinski je napisan po uzoru na "Rocky" formulu, ako se izuzme prva trećina kao njegov najdojmljiviji segment.

Nakon uvodne scene boksa iz 1805., kad Belchera vidimo gadno okrvavljenog, priča se vraća u njegovo djetinjstvo. Mali Jem dolazi gledati djeda Jacka (Crowe) kako se boksa golim šakama. "Voli gledati djeda kad se tuče", Jack govori Jemovoj majci Mary (Jodhi May; "Posljednji Mohikanac").

"Nema to u sebi", tvrdi Mary za sina, nadajući se toplo da neće poći njegovim boksačkim stopama. "Polako, tek je dječak, svi smo istog kova", zaključi Jack koji Jema podučava da jedna ruka prati drugu i da treba znati podnijeti nasilje, ne ga samo nanijeti.

Crowe je raspložen (glumio je boksača i u filmu "Cinderella Man"), stoga je prava šteta da ima minutažu kao da je zvijezda direktno-na-video akcića poput Brucea Willisa i Mela Gibsona. Iako, u neku ruku Crowe to i jest budući da "Prizefighter" ima povremeno neoprostivo lošu fotografiju direktno-na-video (ne)kvalitete, naročito u interijerima, koja dodatno upropaštava ionako kamerno nepregledne scene boksa.

Veću minutažu od Crowea ima Ray Winstone u ulozi trenera/menadžera Billa Warra koji prepoznaje talent u Jemu ("Sirov si, ali uz malo usmjeravanja..."), kao i to da mu je boks u krvi. Bill uči Jema da se meč dobiva u glavi i vodi ga do statusa prvaka i prvog boksača koji je imao svoj model igračaka, ali nakon uspona, klasika, slijedi pad do idućeg povratničkog meča.

Formulaična struktura filma lakše bi se podnijela da "Prizefighter" češće ponudi nešto neviđeno (npr. "rockyjevski" trening u blatu) i da nas uspije nagnati da istinski, a ne po "defaultu", navijamo za Jema kao što smo navijali za Rockyja. Osoban projekt za Hookingsa realiziran je s premalo osob(e)nosti da bi Belcher ušao u filmsku legendu kao Balboa.
