Već desetljećima blagdan Velike Gospe tradicionalno se u vrgorskom kraju slavi u Velikom Prologu i Mjacima. Veliki broj vjernika iz Vrgorske krajine, susjedne zapadne Hercegovine i doline Neretve dolazi na trodnevnice koje organizira Župa Uznesenje BDM Dusina-Veliki Prolog, a posebno od ranog jutra na sam blagdan kad se“ rijeke ljudi“ slijevaju starom Napolonovom cestom sa svih strana, neki od njih i bosi pješače kilometrima. Velikom Prologu i pogledu s njega koji „puca“ na dva polja Rastok i Jezero, divio se i austrijski car Franjo Josip koji je tu prolazio 1875.godine.
S druge strane, u malom brdsko-planinskom selu Mijacima, na tromeđi vrgorskog-ljubuškog-bekijskog kraja puno je manja gužva, ali podjednako lijepo.
Za ovaj blagdan okupe se iseljeni Mijačani sa svih strana, od Splita, Makarske, Orebića... Otvore svoja stara ognjišta, pomole se Majci Božjoj, a poslije ispred svojih kuća nazdrave i zapjevaju, prisjete se starih dobrih vremena i dana kad je bila života i dječijeg plača u njihovu selu.

Naime, Mijaca su 1961. godine brojila 465 stanovnika, a danas prema zadnjem popisu stanovništva samo 31 duša živi u ovom brdsko-planinskom selu smještenom na 520 metara nadmorske visine. Misno slavlje s procesijom u Mijacima predvodio je župnik don Petar Badrov.
Pored svete mise s procesijom u Velikom Prologu, održava se već desetljećima i tradicionalni sajam, gdje su prodaje: domaći luk, kapula, motike, dršci, kosori, sačure, krtoli... sve što svaka kuća treba i mora imati, ali i nezaobilazna je dobra pečena janjetina i kozletina. Prema nekim procjenama više od 200 kozlina i janjaca platilo je glavom tijekom „derneka“ koji je ove godine zasjao u starom ruhu i punom sjaju. Kroz Veliki Prolog u tri dana oko Velike Gospe prođe nekoliko tisuća ljudi, a ove godine je sve puno življe i drugačije, jer nema ograničenja zbog COVID-a 19, a narod ovog kraja voli svoju majku Mariju, koja je simbol poniznosti i pobožnosti, ali i opstanka hrvatskog naroda.

- Tijekom blagdana Velike Gospe, pristižu nam brojni hodačasnici iz Hercegovine i doline Neretve, a ove godine se to posebno osjetilo, puno više ljudi je došlo nego prethodnih godina kako bi ispunili svoje zavjete i nazočili euharistijskom slavlju. Odrazilo se to i na posjetu tradicionalnom sajmu koji se održava pored župne crkve, svi su tu mogli nešto pronaći za sebe. Drago mi je da uspijevamo unatoč svim izazovima održati taj sajam koji ima dugu i bogatu tradiciju - kazala nam je Mia Dropulić, predsjednica Mjesnog odbora Veliki Prolog.
Posebnu pozornost privukla je tradicionalna procesija u kojoj su Gospin kip nosile trudnice: Ana Herceg,Marija Barbir , Ivana Bilić i Josipa Pervan u čast života i zaštite nerođene djece. Središnju svetu misu služio je msgr. Ratko Perić mostarsko-duvanjski biskup u miru u koncelebraciji s župnikom don Draženom Radmanom, don Josipom Tadićom, fra Markom Bitangom, fra Josipom Repešom i don Markom Šutalom.

Već desetljećima blagdan Velike Gospe tradicionalno se u vrgorskom kraju slavi u Velikom Prologu i Mjacima. Veliki broj vjernika iz Vrgorske krajine, susjedne zapadne Hercegovine i doline Neretve dolazi na trodnevnice koje organizira Župa Uznesenje BDM Dusina-Veliki Prolog, a posebno od ranog jutra na sam blagdan kad se“ rijeke ljudi“ slijevaju starom Napolonovom cestom sa svih strana, neki od njih i bosi pješače kilometrima. Velikom Prologu i pogledu s njega koji „puca“ na dva polja Rastok i Jezero, divio se i austrijski car Franjo Josip koji je tu prolazio 1875.godine.
S druge strane, u malom brdsko-planinskom selu Mijacima, na tromeđi vrgorskog-ljubuškog-bekijskog kraja puno je manja gužva, ali podjednako lijepo.
Za ovaj blagdan okupe se iseljeni Mijačani sa svih strana, od Splita, Makarske, Orebića... Otvore svoja stara ognjišta, pomole se Majci Božjoj, a poslije ispred svojih kuća nazdrave i zapjevaju, prisjete se starih dobrih vremena i dana kad je bila života i dječijeg plača u njihovu selu.

Naime, Mijaca su 1961. godine brojila 465 stanovnika, a danas prema zadnjem popisu stanovništva samo 31 duša živi u ovom brdsko-planinskom selu smještenom na 520 metara nadmorske visine. Misno slavlje s procesijom u Mijacima predvodio je župnik don Petar Badrov.
Pored svete mise s procesijom u Velikom Prologu, održava se već desetljećima i tradicionalni sajam, gdje su prodaje: domaći luk, kapula, motike, dršci, kosori, sačure, krtoli... sve što svaka kuća treba i mora imati, ali i nezaobilazna je dobra pečena janjetina i kozletina. Prema nekim procjenama više od 200 kozlina i janjaca platilo je glavom tijekom „derneka“ koji je ove godine zasjao u starom ruhu i punom sjaju. Kroz Veliki Prolog u tri dana oko Velike Gospe prođe nekoliko tisuća ljudi, a ove godine je sve puno življe i drugačije, jer nema ograničenja zbog COVID-a 19, a narod ovog kraja voli svoju majku Mariju, koja je simbol poniznosti i pobožnosti, ali i opstanka hrvatskog naroda.

- Tijekom blagdana Velike Gospe, pristižu nam brojni hodačasnici iz Hercegovine i doline Neretve, a ove godine se to posebno osjetilo, puno više ljudi je došlo nego prethodnih godina kako bi ispunili svoje zavjete i nazočili euharistijskom slavlju. Odrazilo se to i na posjetu tradicionalnom sajmu koji se održava pored župne crkve, svi su tu mogli nešto pronaći za sebe. Drago mi je da uspijevamo unatoč svim izazovima održati taj sajam koji ima dugu i bogatu tradiciju - kazala nam je Mia Dropulić, predsjednica Mjesnog odbora Veliki Prolog.
Posebnu pozornost privukla je tradicionalna procesija u kojoj su Gospin kip nosile trudnice: Ana Herceg,Marija Barbir , Ivana Bilić i Josipa Pervan u čast života i zaštite nerođene djece. Središnju svetu misu služio je msgr. Ratko Perić mostarsko-duvanjski biskup u miru u koncelebraciji s župnikom don Draženom Radmanom, don Josipom Tadićom, fra Markom Bitangom, fra Josipom Repešom i don Markom Šutalom.
