Žitelji Staroga Grada na otoku Hvaru, ali i brojni Dalmatinci, u utorak s velikom tugom primili vijest o smrti prof. dr. Vedrana Deletisa (1946.), čiji je životni i profesionalni put prekinut upravo u drevnome Farosu.

Riječ je o uvaženom liječniku neurologu koji je rođen u Tuzli (BiH), ali je podrijetlom iz hrvatske obitelji s otoka Hvara (otac pok. Ratimir Deletis i Katja Deletis rođena Vranković). Većinu profesionalne karijere (25 godina) ostvario je u SAD-u (Houston i New York), kao sveučilišni profesor i neuroznanstvenik. U braku sa svojom suprugom ima četvero djece.

No, prof. dr. Deletisa su vukli korijeni pa se svojedobno vratio u Hrvatsku, gdje je nastavio profesionalnu karijeru na Medicinskom fakultetu u Splitu. Također je blisko surađivao s Kliničkom bolnicom Dubrava u Zagrebu na problematici komatoznih bolesnika, što je u konačnici rezultiralo i priznanjem "Ponos Hrvatske" 2012. godine.

Za vrijeme Domovinskog rata kraće vrijeme je radio na KBC-u Rebro u Zagrebu, ali je nakon povratka u Lijepu našu svaki svoj slobodni trenutak provodi u Starom Gradu u kojem se 2013. politički aktivirao i bio dogradonačelnik u mandatu poteštata Vinka Maroevića (HDZ).

- Vedran je prije svega bio veliki čovjek i humanist, liječnik koji je imao svoj stav i do zadnjeg atoma snage se stavljao na raspolaganje. Tako je i devedesetih godina sve svoje sposobnosti podredio svojoj domovini Hrvatskoj.

Na isti način posvetio se i Starome Gradu, kao volonterski zamjenik gradonačelnika – kazao je Maroević.

Njegovi znanstveni radovi objavljivani su u brojnim stručnim časopisima, ali za prof. dr. Deletisa se mora reći i da je bio čovjek koji je uvijek bio spreman pomoći svakome. Zanimljivo je da je takav znanstvenik i dogradonačelnik 2014. godine preuzeo ulogu barkarijola na plivačkom maratonu "Faros".

Na 16-kilometarskoj stazi tada je pratio braću Duju i Marina Milana, zajedno s njihovim trenerom Joškom Marušićem.

- Dok sam živio u New Yorku jasno je da ovdje nisam mogao sudjelovati kao pratitelj plivača. Sada sam se konačno vratio u domovinu i osjećam potrebu biti nazočan ovom velikom natjecanju.

Osim toga, kao funkcionar želio sam pokazati mladima kako trebaju podržavati maraton, jer je to jedan od primjera dragovoljnog rada koji je neobično važan doprinos gradu, simbolično i stvarno – kazao je tada prof. dr. Deletis.

Objasnio je da se na takav način razvija pozitivnu društvenu klimu i motivira mlade ljude da se angažiraju za opće dobro. Istaknuo je da se on u tome kontekstu i kandidirao za mjesto zamjenika gradonačelnika (u volonterskom statusu), ponajprije zbog njegovih profesionalnih, međunarodnih i drugih obveza.

- Svemu što je radio, pristupao je s blagošću, stručno, predano i s ljubavlju. Nedostajat će neizmjerno svome Starome Gradu i svim njegovim građanima, koji će ga pamtiti s trajnom zahvalnošću i naklonošću – poručili su iz Grada Staroga Grada.

Žitelji Staroga Grada na otoku Hvaru, ali i brojni Dalmatinci, u utorak s velikom tugom primili vijest o smrti prof. dr. Vedrana Deletisa (1946.), čiji je životni i profesionalni put prekinut upravo u drevnome Farosu.

Riječ je o uvaženom liječniku neurologu koji je rođen u Tuzli (BiH), ali je podrijetlom iz hrvatske obitelji s otoka Hvara (otac pok. Ratimir Deletis i Katja Deletis rođena Vranković). Većinu profesionalne karijere (25 godina) ostvario je u SAD-u (Houston i New York), kao sveučilišni profesor i neuroznanstvenik. U braku sa svojom suprugom ima četvero djece.

No, prof. dr. Deletisa su vukli korijeni pa se svojedobno vratio u Hrvatsku, gdje je nastavio profesionalnu karijeru na Medicinskom fakultetu u Splitu. Također je blisko surađivao s Kliničkom bolnicom Dubrava u Zagrebu na problematici komatoznih bolesnika, što je u konačnici rezultiralo i priznanjem "Ponos Hrvatske" 2012. godine.

Za vrijeme Domovinskog rata kraće vrijeme je radio na KBC-u Rebro u Zagrebu, ali je nakon povratka u Lijepu našu svaki svoj slobodni trenutak provodi u Starom Gradu u kojem se 2013. politički aktivirao i bio dogradonačelnik u mandatu poteštata Vinka Maroevića (HDZ).

- Vedran je prije svega bio veliki čovjek i humanist, liječnik koji je imao svoj stav i do zadnjeg atoma snage se stavljao na raspolaganje. Tako je i devedesetih godina sve svoje sposobnosti podredio svojoj domovini Hrvatskoj.

Na isti način posvetio se i Starome Gradu, kao volonterski zamjenik gradonačelnika – kazao je Maroević.

Njegovi znanstveni radovi objavljivani su u brojnim stručnim časopisima, ali za prof. dr. Deletisa se mora reći i da je bio čovjek koji je uvijek bio spreman pomoći svakome. Zanimljivo je da je takav znanstvenik i dogradonačelnik 2014. godine preuzeo ulogu barkarijola na plivačkom maratonu "Faros".

Na 16-kilometarskoj stazi tada je pratio braću Duju i Marina Milana, zajedno s njihovim trenerom Joškom Marušićem.

- Dok sam živio u New Yorku jasno je da ovdje nisam mogao sudjelovati kao pratitelj plivača. Sada sam se konačno vratio u domovinu i osjećam potrebu biti nazočan ovom velikom natjecanju.

Osim toga, kao funkcionar želio sam pokazati mladima kako trebaju podržavati maraton, jer je to jedan od primjera dragovoljnog rada koji je neobično važan doprinos gradu, simbolično i stvarno – kazao je tada prof. dr. Deletis.

Objasnio je da se na takav način razvija pozitivnu društvenu klimu i motivira mlade ljude da se angažiraju za opće dobro. Istaknuo je da se on u tome kontekstu i kandidirao za mjesto zamjenika gradonačelnika (u volonterskom statusu), ponajprije zbog njegovih profesionalnih, međunarodnih i drugih obveza.

- Svemu što je radio, pristupao je s blagošću, stručno, predano i s ljubavlju. Nedostajat će neizmjerno svome Starome Gradu i svim njegovim građanima, koji će ga pamtiti s trajnom zahvalnošću i naklonošću – poručili su iz Grada Staroga Grada.

Žitelji Staroga Grada na otoku Hvaru, ali i brojni Dalmatinci, u utorak s velikom tugom primili vijest o smrti prof. dr. Vedrana Deletisa (1946.), čiji je životni i profesionalni put prekinut upravo u drevnome Farosu.
