Kaja Kallas, estonska premijerka, u posljednjih je mjesec dana zadobila titulu "nove europske Željezne dame".

Na čelu estonske vlade od početka godine, i prva je žena na toj funkciji otkako je Estonija izborila neovisnost 90-ih, Kallas je danas među rijetkim europskim liderima koji otvoreno i bez uvijanja istupaju protiv ruskog predsjednika Vladimira Putina govoreći da se protiv njegove agresije trebaju poduzeti oštrije mjere - bez kompromisa.

- Zahtijevati mir s gospodinom Putinom bila bi pogreška. Bilo bi to nagrađivanje njegove agresije. Umjesto toga, mi se moramo pobrinuti da Rusija izgubi rat protiv Ukrajine, tako da se povijest ne ponavlja nigdje drugdje - rekla je u zadnjem intervjuu za New York Times.

Veći interes javnosti osvojila je održavši diplomatski, ali iskren govor njemačkom establišmentu u Berlinu krajem travnja. U jedva mjesec dana, citirana je 11.560 puta u međunarodnim medijima, što je nevjerojatan broj za čelnika zemlje s populacijom trećine Hrvatske, piše Jutarnji.hr.

Čak i među svojim susjedima, ostalim baltičkim čelnicima, Kallas je dobila široku podršku za svoja upozorenja da ruska invazija na Ukrajinu označava prekretnicu u europskoj povijesti i da se Putina mora pobijediti pod svaku cijenu. Zbog svega toga je i dobila titulu "Željezne dame" koju je inače držala britanska političarka i bivša prva žena na čelu Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva Margaret Thatcher. Iako kontroverzna figura, Thatcher je ostala zapamćena kao odlučna političarka koja je s američkim predsjednikom Ronaldom Reaganom stvorila snažan savez protiv komunizma.

'Mir ne može biti krajnji cilj'

Istu odlučnost u borbi protiv Putina sada pokazuje i Kallas, a Europi najviše zamjera mlake reakcije nekih europskih čelnika prema Putinu. Tako je, recimo, kritizirala pokušaj Emmanuela Macrona, predsjednika Francuske, da održi kontakte s Putinom dok se Ukrajina bori za svoj suverenitet i njeno postojanje kao samostalne države.

Iako neki važni europski poslovni centri žele da se rat u Ukrajini što prije završi, s obzirom na to da je došlo do naglog povećanja cijena energenata, žitarica, jestivog ulja i drugih artikala, Kallas smatra da takav pritisak jednostavno nije dovoljan. Pogotovo jer se Ukrajinci bore za ono što ona smatra vrijednostima i sigurnošću cijelog transatlantskog saveza, a ne samo biznisa.

- Mir ne može biti krajnji cilj. Imali smo mir nakon Drugog svjetskog rata, ali tada su počela ili nastavljena zvjerstva za naš narod. Masovne deportacije, ubojstva elite i pokušaji brisanja naše kulture i našeg jezika - rekla je.

Stav estonske liderice, naime, proizlazi iz osobne, ali i državne povijesti i bolnog iskustva sovjetske okupacije za vrijeme Drugog svjetskog rata. Naime, Sovjetski savez je izvršio invaziju i okupacija Estonije, Latvije i Litve u lipnju 1940., pod vodstvom Staljina i pod pokroviteljstvom pakta Molotov-Ribbentrop, koji je potpisan između nacističke Njemačke i SSSR-a neposredno prije izbijanja svjetskog rata. Kallas je i sama rođena pod sovjetskom okupacijom 1977., a njezina je obitelj, kako je ispričala u intervjuu za Newatatesman, doživjela užasnu stvarnost "ruskog imperijalističkog sna". Godine 1949. njezina majka Kristi (tada stara šest mjeseci), njezina baka i prabaka poslane su u Sibir pod Staljinovom masovnom deportacijom onih građana koji su smatrani "antisovjetskim". Njezina je majka pukom srećom spašena.

'Povijest se ponavlja'

Raspadom Sovjetskog saveza oko 78 posto Estonaca glasalo je za neovisnost na referendumu 3. ožujka 1991. Estonija je proglasila svoju neovisnost od Sovjetskog Saveza 20. kolovoza 1991. godine.

Zato, kada je 24. veljače započela ruska invazija na Ukrajinu, njihove susjede, Kallas je prepoznala da se povijest ponavlja.

- Današnji problemi naših susjeda, sutra su naši problemi. Dakle, ako je kuća vašeg susjeda u plamenu, bolje je tamo ugasiti vatru nego čekati dok vatra ne dođe do vaše kuće - kaže.

Estonci su zato brzo reagirali odmah nakon što je Putin proglasio rat, ubrzali su transport oružja prema Ukrajini šaljući protutenkovske projektile FGM-148 Javelin i haubice D-30.

- Naši ljudi jako podržavaju obranu Ukrajine. Vidim to na svim ulicama i pokraj ruskog veleposlanstva u Tallinnu, na proukrajinskim transparentima, zastavama i plakatima. Mi smo mala zemlja i brzo se dogovorimo, ali u nekim velikim zemljama rasprave među političarima i građanima traju duže. Kada sam za stolom u tim raspravama s drugim europskim čelnicima, mislim da moralni kompas pokazuje pravi smjer. Čak i ako treba vremena, smjer je isti - zaključila je, prenosi Jutarnji.hr.

Kaja Kallas, estonska premijerka, u posljednjih je mjesec dana zadobila titulu "nove europske Željezne dame".

Na čelu estonske vlade od početka godine, i prva je žena na toj funkciji otkako je Estonija izborila neovisnost 90-ih, Kallas je danas među rijetkim europskim liderima koji otvoreno i bez uvijanja istupaju protiv ruskog predsjednika Vladimira Putina govoreći da se protiv njegove agresije trebaju poduzeti oštrije mjere - bez kompromisa.

- Zahtijevati mir s gospodinom Putinom bila bi pogreška. Bilo bi to nagrađivanje njegove agresije. Umjesto toga, mi se moramo pobrinuti da Rusija izgubi rat protiv Ukrajine, tako da se povijest ne ponavlja nigdje drugdje - rekla je u zadnjem intervjuu za New York Times.

Veći interes javnosti osvojila je održavši diplomatski, ali iskren govor njemačkom establišmentu u Berlinu krajem travnja. U jedva mjesec dana, citirana je 11.560 puta u međunarodnim medijima, što je nevjerojatan broj za čelnika zemlje s populacijom trećine Hrvatske, piše Jutarnji.hr.

Čak i među svojim susjedima, ostalim baltičkim čelnicima, Kallas je dobila široku podršku za svoja upozorenja da ruska invazija na Ukrajinu označava prekretnicu u europskoj povijesti i da se Putina mora pobijediti pod svaku cijenu. Zbog svega toga je i dobila titulu "Željezne dame" koju je inače držala britanska političarka i bivša prva žena na čelu Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva Margaret Thatcher. Iako kontroverzna figura, Thatcher je ostala zapamćena kao odlučna političarka koja je s američkim predsjednikom Ronaldom Reaganom stvorila snažan savez protiv komunizma.

'Mir ne može biti krajnji cilj'

Istu odlučnost u borbi protiv Putina sada pokazuje i Kallas, a Europi najviše zamjera mlake reakcije nekih europskih čelnika prema Putinu. Tako je, recimo, kritizirala pokušaj Emmanuela Macrona, predsjednika Francuske, da održi kontakte s Putinom dok se Ukrajina bori za svoj suverenitet i njeno postojanje kao samostalne države.

Iako neki važni europski poslovni centri žele da se rat u Ukrajini što prije završi, s obzirom na to da je došlo do naglog povećanja cijena energenata, žitarica, jestivog ulja i drugih artikala, Kallas smatra da takav pritisak jednostavno nije dovoljan. Pogotovo jer se Ukrajinci bore za ono što ona smatra vrijednostima i sigurnošću cijelog transatlantskog saveza, a ne samo biznisa.

- Mir ne može biti krajnji cilj. Imali smo mir nakon Drugog svjetskog rata, ali tada su počela ili nastavljena zvjerstva za naš narod. Masovne deportacije, ubojstva elite i pokušaji brisanja naše kulture i našeg jezika - rekla je.

Stav estonske liderice, naime, proizlazi iz osobne, ali i državne povijesti i bolnog iskustva sovjetske okupacije za vrijeme Drugog svjetskog rata. Naime, Sovjetski savez je izvršio invaziju i okupacija Estonije, Latvije i Litve u lipnju 1940., pod vodstvom Staljina i pod pokroviteljstvom pakta Molotov-Ribbentrop, koji je potpisan između nacističke Njemačke i SSSR-a neposredno prije izbijanja svjetskog rata. Kallas je i sama rođena pod sovjetskom okupacijom 1977., a njezina je obitelj, kako je ispričala u intervjuu za Newatatesman, doživjela užasnu stvarnost "ruskog imperijalističkog sna". Godine 1949. njezina majka Kristi (tada stara šest mjeseci), njezina baka i prabaka poslane su u Sibir pod Staljinovom masovnom deportacijom onih građana koji su smatrani "antisovjetskim". Njezina je majka pukom srećom spašena.

'Povijest se ponavlja'

Raspadom Sovjetskog saveza oko 78 posto Estonaca glasalo je za neovisnost na referendumu 3. ožujka 1991. Estonija je proglasila svoju neovisnost od Sovjetskog Saveza 20. kolovoza 1991. godine.

Zato, kada je 24. veljače započela ruska invazija na Ukrajinu, njihove susjede, Kallas je prepoznala da se povijest ponavlja.

- Današnji problemi naših susjeda, sutra su naši problemi. Dakle, ako je kuća vašeg susjeda u plamenu, bolje je tamo ugasiti vatru nego čekati dok vatra ne dođe do vaše kuće - kaže.

Estonci su zato brzo reagirali odmah nakon što je Putin proglasio rat, ubrzali su transport oružja prema Ukrajini šaljući protutenkovske projektile FGM-148 Javelin i haubice D-30.

- Naši ljudi jako podržavaju obranu Ukrajine. Vidim to na svim ulicama i pokraj ruskog veleposlanstva u Tallinnu, na proukrajinskim transparentima, zastavama i plakatima. Mi smo mala zemlja i brzo se dogovorimo, ali u nekim velikim zemljama rasprave među političarima i građanima traju duže. Kada sam za stolom u tim raspravama s drugim europskim čelnicima, mislim da moralni kompas pokazuje pravi smjer. Čak i ako treba vremena, smjer je isti - zaključila je, prenosi Jutarnji.hr.

Kaja Kallas, estonska premijerka, u posljednjih je mjesec dana zadobila titulu "nove europske Željezne dame".

Na čelu estonske vlade od početka godine, i prva je žena na toj funkciji otkako je Estonija izborila neovisnost 90-ih, Kallas je danas među rijetkim europskim liderima koji otvoreno i bez uvijanja istupaju protiv ruskog predsjednika Vladimira Putina govoreći da se protiv njegove agresije trebaju poduzeti oštrije mjere - bez kompromisa.

- Zahtijevati mir s gospodinom Putinom bila bi pogreška. Bilo bi to nagrađivanje njegove agresije. Umjesto toga, mi se moramo pobrinuti da Rusija izgubi rat protiv Ukrajine, tako da se povijest ne ponavlja nigdje drugdje - rekla je u zadnjem intervjuu za New York Times.
