Splitskoj javnosti još prilično nepoznat sport predstavit će se ovog vikenda u Parku mladeži, budući da je Split domaćin međunarodnog “Dalmatia Lacrosse Cupa”. Više od 400 sudionika u 20 timova iz mnogih europskih zemalja i Hong Konga od petka do nedjelje na pomoćnom igralištu RNK Split borit će se za titulu najboljih u muškoj i ženskoj konkurenciji.

Događaj je službeno otvoren večerašnjom svečanošću u Muzeju hrvatskih arheoloških spomenika na splitskim Mejama, a prisustvovao mu je i dogradonačelnik Splita Antonio Kuzmanić koji se obratio okupljenima.

- Split je bez ikakve dileme dom mnogih olimpijaca i svjetski poznatih sportaša, stoga je pravo mjesto za jedan ovakav međunarodni turnir u lacrosseu, sportu široko priznatom u cijelom svijetu, ali ne toliko razvijenom u Hrvatskoj. Grad Split je počašćen ugostiti najveći turnir ove vrste u cijeloj Europi - rekao je Kuzmanić u svom obraćanju.

Prije nego što nastavimo, par servisnih informacija. Lacrosse je momčadski kontaktni sport iznimno popularan u SAD-u i Kanadi, štoviše u Kanadi je jedan od nacionalnih sportova, a trebao bi se naći u programu Olimpijskih igara u Los Angelesu 2028. godine.

Igraju ga dvije momčadi s po deset igrača na travnjaku sličnih dimenzija kao nogometni. Cilj je tvrdom gumenom lopticom postići pogodak koristeći pritom štap s pričvršćenom mrežicom na vrhu. U Hrvatskoj se lacrosse pojavio 2011., pet godina kasnije osnovana je reprezentacija, a 2017. pokrenut je splitski klub Split Legion koji danas broji 70-80 muških i ženskih članova.

Među njima su Toni Grčić i Ivan Slipčević koji su uz pomoć američkog trenera Ryana Wallacea došli na ideju organizacije “Dalmatia Lacrosse Cupa”. Entuzijastični su i ambiciozni, žele staviti Split na svjetsku mapu lacrossea.

- Ako se dokažemo, ovaj će turnir postati tradicija, a jednog dana želja nam je dovesti u Split Europsko ili Svjetsko prvenstvo! Turnir smo htjeli organizirati još lani, ali nas je korona spriječila. Spajamo post-sezonu u turizmu i lacrosse, idealno. Podržava nas i slavni trener američkog nogometa Bill Belichick - otkriva nam Grčić.

Zbog koronavirusa neke su zemlje bile prisiljene otkazati, no broj onih koji dolaze svejedno je više nego respektabilan.

- Sve su zemlje iz Europe, uz izuzetak Hong Konga, ali dolaze nam Amerikanci i Kanađani koji doduše neće nastupati pod zastavama svojih zemalja. Svaki tim dolazi s najmanje 20 ljudi, neki će povesti i pratnju tako da sigurno imamo preko 400 sudionika na turniru.

Nakon faze po skupinama ide se u nokaut fazu počevši od četvrtfinala, a polufinala i finale igraju se u nedjelju.

- Finale ćemo igrati dva puta 20 minuta, a sve ostale utakmice prije toga dva puta po 16. Žene nastupaju bez zaštitne opreme pa je njihova verzija beskontaktna - objašnjava Grčić. 

Ako sve prođe kako treba, dogodine je planirano proširenje na 40 ekipa uz korištenje još jednog terena, onog glavnog u Parku mladeži.

- Inače je naša klupska baza u Stobreču na terenu Primorca - kaže Grčić i zahvaljuje UniSportu na pomoći u organizaciji.

Da bi lacrosse zaživio u Splitu i Hrvatskoj, potrebno je više klubova, natjecanja, ali i djece.

- Trenutno postoje samo Split Legion i jedan klub u Zagrebu. Osijek i Varaždin zaledili su svoja djelovanja. No sa Srbijom, Slovenijom i jednim klubom u Zadru koji se treba pokrenuti napravit ćemo regionalnu ligu. Znam da je teško naučiti naše ljude na nešto novo, ali probat ćemo zainteresirati što je više moguće djece, ići po školama... - poručuje Grčić.

“Dalmatia Lacrosse Cup” u toj bi priči trebao biti početni korak.

Svecanost otvaranja turnira Dalmatia cup u Lacrossu koji ce se sljedecih dana odzavat u Splitu.

Splitskoj javnosti još prilično nepoznat sport predstavit će se ovog vikenda u Parku mladeži, budući da je Split domaćin međunarodnog “Dalmatia Lacrosse Cupa”. Više od 400 sudionika u 20 timova iz mnogih europskih zemalja i Hong Konga od petka do nedjelje na pomoćnom igralištu RNK Split borit će se za titulu najboljih u muškoj i ženskoj konkurenciji.

Događaj je službeno otvoren večerašnjom svečanošću u Muzeju hrvatskih arheoloških spomenika na splitskim Mejama, a prisustvovao mu je i dogradonačelnik Splita Antonio Kuzmanić koji se obratio okupljenima.

- Split je bez ikakve dileme dom mnogih olimpijaca i svjetski poznatih sportaša, stoga je pravo mjesto za jedan ovakav međunarodni turnir u lacrosseu, sportu široko priznatom u cijelom svijetu, ali ne toliko razvijenom u Hrvatskoj. Grad Split je počašćen ugostiti najveći turnir ove vrste u cijeloj Europi - rekao je Kuzmanić u svom obraćanju.

Prije nego što nastavimo, par servisnih informacija. Lacrosse je momčadski kontaktni sport iznimno popularan u SAD-u i Kanadi, štoviše u Kanadi je jedan od nacionalnih sportova, a trebao bi se naći u programu Olimpijskih igara u Los Angelesu 2028. godine.

Igraju ga dvije momčadi s po deset igrača na travnjaku sličnih dimenzija kao nogometni. Cilj je tvrdom gumenom lopticom postići pogodak koristeći pritom štap s pričvršćenom mrežicom na vrhu. U Hrvatskoj se lacrosse pojavio 2011., pet godina kasnije osnovana je reprezentacija, a 2017. pokrenut je splitski klub Split Legion koji danas broji 70-80 muških i ženskih članova.

Među njima su Toni Grčić i Ivan Slipčević koji su uz pomoć američkog trenera Ryana Wallacea došli na ideju organizacije “Dalmatia Lacrosse Cupa”. Entuzijastični su i ambiciozni, žele staviti Split na svjetsku mapu lacrossea.

- Ako se dokažemo, ovaj će turnir postati tradicija, a jednog dana želja nam je dovesti u Split Europsko ili Svjetsko prvenstvo! Turnir smo htjeli organizirati još lani, ali nas je korona spriječila. Spajamo post-sezonu u turizmu i lacrosse, idealno. Podržava nas i slavni trener američkog nogometa Bill Belichick - otkriva nam Grčić.

Zbog koronavirusa neke su zemlje bile prisiljene otkazati, no broj onih koji dolaze svejedno je više nego respektabilan.

- Sve su zemlje iz Europe, uz izuzetak Hong Konga, ali dolaze nam Amerikanci i Kanađani koji doduše neće nastupati pod zastavama svojih zemalja. Svaki tim dolazi s najmanje 20 ljudi, neki će povesti i pratnju tako da sigurno imamo preko 400 sudionika na turniru.

Nakon faze po skupinama ide se u nokaut fazu počevši od četvrtfinala, a polufinala i finale igraju se u nedjelju.

- Finale ćemo igrati dva puta 20 minuta, a sve ostale utakmice prije toga dva puta po 16. Žene nastupaju bez zaštitne opreme pa je njihova verzija beskontaktna - objašnjava Grčić. 

Ako sve prođe kako treba, dogodine je planirano proširenje na 40 ekipa uz korištenje još jednog terena, onog glavnog u Parku mladeži.

- Inače je naša klupska baza u Stobreču na terenu Primorca - kaže Grčić i zahvaljuje UniSportu na pomoći u organizaciji.

Da bi lacrosse zaživio u Splitu i Hrvatskoj, potrebno je više klubova, natjecanja, ali i djece.

- Trenutno postoje samo Split Legion i jedan klub u Zagrebu. Osijek i Varaždin zaledili su svoja djelovanja. No sa Srbijom, Slovenijom i jednim klubom u Zadru koji se treba pokrenuti napravit ćemo regionalnu ligu. Znam da je teško naučiti naše ljude na nešto novo, ali probat ćemo zainteresirati što je više moguće djece, ići po školama... - poručuje Grčić.

“Dalmatia Lacrosse Cup” u toj bi priči trebao biti početni korak.
