Vodeće pomorske udruge predložile su da se uvede globalna naknada za emisiju ugljičnih plinova kako bi se ubrzala 'zelena transformacija' pomorskog prijevoza tereta.
Oko 90 posto svjetske trgovine odvija se morem i pomorski promet proizvodi gotovo tri posto svjetskih emisija CO2, pa je sektor pod sve većim pritiskom da smanji zagađenje okoliša.
Međunarodna brodarska komora (ICS) i Intercargo prvi su puta zajednički predložili uvođenje naknade za tonu emitiranog ugljičnog dioksida koju bi plaćali brodovi bruto tonaže veće od 5000.
Prikupljeni novac slijevao bi se u klimatski fond i koristio za financiranje infrastrukture u lukama diljem svijeta koja bi jamčila opskrbu čišćim gorivima, poput vodika i amonijaka, predlažu ICS i Intercargo.
"Brodarima treba uistinu globalna, tržišno bazirana mjera kako bi se smanjile velike razlike u cijenama konvencionalnih i goriva bez ugljika", rje glavni tajnik ICS-a Guy Platten.
Prijedlog je u petak dostavljen Međunarodnoj pomorskoj organizaciji (IMO), agenciji Ujedinjenih naroda za pomorski promet .
Glasnogovornik IMO-a rekao je da su svi prijedlozi dobrodošli i da će se o njima raspravljati krajem ove godine, dodavši da su "prijedlozi o tržišno utemeljenim mjerama u skladu s ishodišnom strategijom IMO-a za stakleničke plinove".
Radna skupina IMO-a sastat će se krajem listopada, uoči sjednice Odbora za zaštitu morskog okoliša krajem studenog koja bi, između ostalog, trebala biti posvećena nastojanjima da se smanji emisija ugljičnih plinova.
Europska komisija u srpnju je predložila da se brodari nakon više od deset godina uključe u sustav trgovine dozvolama za emisiju ugljičnog dioksida.
U ICS-u pak upozoravaju da će "parcijalna" rješenja, poput prijedloga EU-a, znatno zakomplicirati "pomorsku trgovinu".

Vodeće pomorske udruge predložile su da se uvede globalna naknada za emisiju ugljičnih plinova kako bi se ubrzala 'zelena transformacija' pomorskog prijevoza tereta.
Oko 90 posto svjetske trgovine odvija se morem i pomorski promet proizvodi gotovo tri posto svjetskih emisija CO2, pa je sektor pod sve većim pritiskom da smanji zagađenje okoliša.
Međunarodna brodarska komora (ICS) i Intercargo prvi su puta zajednički predložili uvođenje naknade za tonu emitiranog ugljičnog dioksida koju bi plaćali brodovi bruto tonaže veće od 5000.
Prikupljeni novac slijevao bi se u klimatski fond i koristio za financiranje infrastrukture u lukama diljem svijeta koja bi jamčila opskrbu čišćim gorivima, poput vodika i amonijaka, predlažu ICS i Intercargo.
"Brodarima treba uistinu globalna, tržišno bazirana mjera kako bi se smanjile velike razlike u cijenama konvencionalnih i goriva bez ugljika", rje glavni tajnik ICS-a Guy Platten.
Prijedlog je u petak dostavljen Međunarodnoj pomorskoj organizaciji (IMO), agenciji Ujedinjenih naroda za pomorski promet .
Glasnogovornik IMO-a rekao je da su svi prijedlozi dobrodošli i da će se o njima raspravljati krajem ove godine, dodavši da su "prijedlozi o tržišno utemeljenim mjerama u skladu s ishodišnom strategijom IMO-a za stakleničke plinove".
Radna skupina IMO-a sastat će se krajem listopada, uoči sjednice Odbora za zaštitu morskog okoliša krajem studenog koja bi, između ostalog, trebala biti posvećena nastojanjima da se smanji emisija ugljičnih plinova.
Europska komisija u srpnju je predložila da se brodari nakon više od deset godina uključe u sustav trgovine dozvolama za emisiju ugljičnog dioksida.
U ICS-u pak upozoravaju da će "parcijalna" rješenja, poput prijedloga EU-a, znatno zakomplicirati "pomorsku trgovinu".
