I dok se delta varijanta koronavirusa širi svijetom, stručnjaci se pitaju je li želja o stvaranju imuniteta krda cijepljenjem i dalje izvediva. Imunitet krda postiže se u trenutku kad je određeni dio populacije cijepljen protiv patogena ili je prebolio infekciju. 

Je li to ostvarivo kad je u pitanju covid-19 zbog stalne pojave zaraznijih varijanti, otvoreno je pitanje. 

"Ako pitanje glasi 'hoćemo li samo cijepljenjem kontrolirati pandemiju', odgovor je negativan", kaže francuski epidemiolog Mircea Sofonea, profesor na sveučilištu u Montpellieru. 

On kaže da kolektivni imunitet ovisi o dvama temeljnim faktorima. 

"To su zaraznost virusa i učinkovitost cjepiva da štiti od infekcije. U ovom trenutku te efikasnosti nema". 

Delta je ugrubo 60 posto prenosnija od alfa varijante i dvostruko zaraznija od izvornog soja koji se pojavio krajem 2019. godine. 

Što je virus učinkovitiji u širenju zaraze, to prag za imunitet krda raste.

"Teoretski, to je vrlo jednostavna matematika", kaže epidemiolog Antoine Flahault, ravnatelj francuskog Instituta za javno zdravlje.

Izvorna varijanta koronavirusa imala je reprodukcijsku stopu između nula i tri, što znači da jedna zaražena osoba može zaraziti do tri druge. Da je tako ostalo, imunitet krda ostvario bi se nakon cijepljenja 66 posto ljudi, rekao je Flahault. 

"Ali ako je reprodukcijska stopa osam, kao što je deltina, to nas približava brojci od 90 posto", objasnio je. 

Sve navedeno vrijedi pod uvjetom da su cjepiva sto posto uspješna u zaustavljanju delte, znamo da, nažalost nisu.

Više od 100 posto cijepljenih

Po podacima američkih znanstvenika, učinkovitost Pfizerova i Modernina cjepiva u sprečavanju zaraze pala je s 91 na 66 posto otkako je delta postala dominantna varijanta. 

A pošto su studije pokazale da imunitet stečen cjepivom sam po sebi opada s vremenom, nekoliko je zemalja već krenulo s cijepljenjem trećom dozom, takozvanim boosterom. 

Uzimajući sve to u obzir, Sofonea kaže da bi više od 100 posto ljudi trebalo biti cijepljeno da se zaustavi prijenos virusa. Što je iz očitih razloga nemoguće. 

"Delta može zaraziti i cijepljene, a to znači da će se svatko necijepljen u nekom trenutku 'susresti' s virusom".

Sve pandemije jednom završe

No čak i ako taj mitski cilj kolektivnog imuniteta nije više u igri, stručnjaci ističu da je cijepljenje najvažnije. Cjepivo nesporno pruža odličnu zaštitu od težeg oboljenja. 

"Znanstvenici preporučuju da se cijepi što više ljudi", ističe Flahault te dodaje da s vremenom sve pandemije završe. 

Sofonea kaže da je još uvijek moguće da covid postane još jedna endemska bolest, "ali ne samo uz pomoć cjepiva". 
Predviđa da će do daljnjega trebati nositi maske i održavati fizičku distancu. 

"Tijekom pandemije AIDS-a, kad su znanstvenici rekli 'nosite kondome', mnogi su rekli - 'u redu, hoćemo neko vrijeme'", podsjeća Flahault.

"A na kraju su ih nastavili koristiti. I u ovom bi se slučaju moglo dogoditi da još dosta dugo nastavimo koristiti maske u zatvorenim prostorima i u javnome prijevozu".

I dok se delta varijanta koronavirusa širi svijetom, stručnjaci se pitaju je li želja o stvaranju imuniteta krda cijepljenjem i dalje izvediva. Imunitet krda postiže se u trenutku kad je određeni dio populacije cijepljen protiv patogena ili je prebolio infekciju. 

Je li to ostvarivo kad je u pitanju covid-19 zbog stalne pojave zaraznijih varijanti, otvoreno je pitanje. 

"Ako pitanje glasi 'hoćemo li samo cijepljenjem kontrolirati pandemiju', odgovor je negativan", kaže francuski epidemiolog Mircea Sofonea, profesor na sveučilištu u Montpellieru. 

On kaže da kolektivni imunitet ovisi o dvama temeljnim faktorima. 

"To su zaraznost virusa i učinkovitost cjepiva da štiti od infekcije. U ovom trenutku te efikasnosti nema". 

Delta je ugrubo 60 posto prenosnija od alfa varijante i dvostruko zaraznija od izvornog soja koji se pojavio krajem 2019. godine. 

Što je virus učinkovitiji u širenju zaraze, to prag za imunitet krda raste.

"Teoretski, to je vrlo jednostavna matematika", kaže epidemiolog Antoine Flahault, ravnatelj francuskog Instituta za javno zdravlje.

Izvorna varijanta koronavirusa imala je reprodukcijsku stopu između nula i tri, što znači da jedna zaražena osoba može zaraziti do tri druge. Da je tako ostalo, imunitet krda ostvario bi se nakon cijepljenja 66 posto ljudi, rekao je Flahault. 

"Ali ako je reprodukcijska stopa osam, kao što je deltina, to nas približava brojci od 90 posto", objasnio je. 

Sve navedeno vrijedi pod uvjetom da su cjepiva sto posto uspješna u zaustavljanju delte, znamo da, nažalost nisu.

Više od 100 posto cijepljenih

Po podacima američkih znanstvenika, učinkovitost Pfizerova i Modernina cjepiva u sprečavanju zaraze pala je s 91 na 66 posto otkako je delta postala dominantna varijanta. 

A pošto su studije pokazale da imunitet stečen cjepivom sam po sebi opada s vremenom, nekoliko je zemalja već krenulo s cijepljenjem trećom dozom, takozvanim boosterom. 

Uzimajući sve to u obzir, Sofonea kaže da bi više od 100 posto ljudi trebalo biti cijepljeno da se zaustavi prijenos virusa. Što je iz očitih razloga nemoguće. 

"Delta može zaraziti i cijepljene, a to znači da će se svatko necijepljen u nekom trenutku 'susresti' s virusom".

Sve pandemije jednom završe

No čak i ako taj mitski cilj kolektivnog imuniteta nije više u igri, stručnjaci ističu da je cijepljenje najvažnije. Cjepivo nesporno pruža odličnu zaštitu od težeg oboljenja. 

"Znanstvenici preporučuju da se cijepi što više ljudi", ističe Flahault te dodaje da s vremenom sve pandemije završe. 

Sofonea kaže da je još uvijek moguće da covid postane još jedna endemska bolest, "ali ne samo uz pomoć cjepiva". 
Predviđa da će do daljnjega trebati nositi maske i održavati fizičku distancu. 

"Tijekom pandemije AIDS-a, kad su znanstvenici rekli 'nosite kondome', mnogi su rekli - 'u redu, hoćemo neko vrijeme'", podsjeća Flahault.

"A na kraju su ih nastavili koristiti. I u ovom bi se slučaju moglo dogoditi da još dosta dugo nastavimo koristiti maske u zatvorenim prostorima i u javnome prijevozu".

I dok se delta varijanta koronavirusa širi svijetom, stručnjaci se pitaju je li želja o stvaranju imuniteta krda cijepljenjem i dalje izvediva. Imunitet krda postiže se u trenutku kad je određeni dio populacije cijepljen protiv patogena ili je prebolio infekciju. 

Je li to ostvarivo kad je u pitanju covid-19 zbog stalne pojave zaraznijih varijanti, otvoreno je pitanje. 

"Ako pitanje glasi 'hoćemo li samo cijepljenjem kontrolirati pandemiju', odgovor je negativan", kaže francuski epidemiolog Mircea Sofonea, profesor na sveučilištu u Montpellieru. 

On kaže da kolektivni imunitet ovisi o dvama temeljnim faktorima. 

"To su zaraznost virusa i učinkovitost cjepiva da štiti od infekcije. U ovom trenutku te efikasnosti nema". 

Delta je ugrubo 60 posto prenosnija od alfa varijante i dvostruko zaraznija od izvornog soja koji se pojavio krajem 2019. godine. 

Što je virus učinkovitiji u širenju zaraze, to prag za imunitet krda raste.

"Teoretski, to je vrlo jednostavna matematika", kaže epidemiolog Antoine Flahault, ravnatelj francuskog Instituta za javno zdravlje.
