Sva odobrena cjepiva protiv COVID-a 19 koja koriste tehnologiju glasničke RNK (Pfeizer/BioNTech i Moderna) kao i adenovirusna cjepiva (AstraZeneca/Oxford) 100 posto su djelotvorna u uklanjanju simptoma bolesti, kao i u sprječavanju smrtnosti.
Rezultati su izrazito pozitivni širom svijeta jer je do danas procijepljeno više od 60 milijuna ljudi i ne postoje dokumenti o teškim neželjenim posljedicama ili smrtnosti zbog cijepljenja.
Najnoviji podaci pokazuju da sva ta cjepiva štite i od prenošenja virusa na druge osobe, jer cijepljeni pojedinci imaju značajno slabiju mogućnost širenja virusnih čestica.
Kako djeluju?
Što se tiče djelovanja, sve te vrste cjepiva djeluju na isti antigen, odnosno protein šiljak koronavirusa. Na taj antigen stvara se značajan imunosni odgovor stvaranjem protutijela i staničnih T stanica. One su brana u našem organizmu protiv virusa. Prema dosadašnjim podacima, ne postoji značajna razlika između imuniteta AZ/oxfordskog cjepiva i onih glasničke RNK jer je antigen isti.
Koje su razlike?
Postoje razlike u pripremanju, primjeni i skladištenju tih cjepiva, no ne u njihovoj cjelokupnoj djelotvornosti.
Djeluju li na nove sojeve?
Za sada postoji nekoliko studija i sva su cjepiva djelotvorna protiv britanske varijante, no nešto je manja djelotvornost AZ cjepiva na južnoafričku varijantu. No, to nije značajan problem jer AZ cjepivo i dalje dovoljno štiti svaku osobu.
Treba li se koristiti AstraZenecino cjepivo za starije od 65 godina?
Prema odluci Europske medicinske agencije, kao i WHO-a, odobreno je cijepljenje za sve dobne skupine. U nekim zemljama postavljana su pitanja o broju testiranih tijekom kliničkih pokusa i AZ isporučuje dodatne podatke. Znači, ne radi se o problemu djelotvornosti cjepiva, nego povećanju brojeva i statistike tijekom kliničkih pokusa.
Što se može dogoditi ako se kasni s cijepljenjem?
Svaki pojedinac koji se cijepi prema protokolima štiti prije svega sebe od bolesti, smrtnosti i mogućih komplikacija post-COVID sindroma. Kolektivno, ako budemo kasnili i ne budemo zaštitili više od 70 posto ljudi, može doći do daljnjeg širenja virusa u populaciji i stvaranja sve više novih varijanti virusa koje mogu biti sve ozbiljnije. Stoga je nužna suradnja građana i zdravstvenog sustava da se što prije omogući procijepljenost populacije i kolektivna zaštita.
Kako je najbolje boriti se protiv budućih promjena virusa?
Osim ova tri cjepiva, koja je u Europi odobrila agencija EMA, možemo očekivati još pet novih koja će biti u primjeni do ljeta (Janssen, Sputnjik V, NovaVax, Sinopharm, SinoVac). To će biti dodatna pomoć u borbi protiv pandemije COVID-a. Najveće mogućnosti otvaraju kombinacije cjepiva u budućnosti, što će nam osigurati pobjedu i protiv budućih novih sojeva. Primjerice, ljudi koji su cijepljeni AZ cjepivom zaštićeni su od standardnih varijanti, a mRNK tehnologija može brzo razviti nova cjepiva protiv novih sojeva i na taj ćemo način osigurati i brzu borbu protiv svih varijanti COVID-a.
Hoću li se ja cijepiti?
Naravno da hoću! Radim u sveučilišnoj bolnici kao znanstvenik i doći ću na red krajem ožujka, a cijepit ću se cjepivom koje mi ponude, bilo to AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna... Nema biranja jer, kao što sam rekao, sva su cjepiva dobra i stoga je moja poruka za kraj: ljudi, cijepite se bilo kojim od odobrenih cjepiva, bio to Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna. Čekanjem i biranjem samo dovodite u opasnost sebe i svoje bližnje. A i to "čekanje i biranje" nema znanstveno uporište jer, kako smo već rekli, sva odobrena cjepiva uspješno nas štite od hospitalizacije i smrti.

Sva odobrena cjepiva protiv COVID-a 19 koja koriste tehnologiju glasničke RNK (Pfeizer/BioNTech i Moderna) kao i adenovirusna cjepiva (AstraZeneca/Oxford) 100 posto su djelotvorna u uklanjanju simptoma bolesti, kao i u sprječavanju smrtnosti.
Rezultati su izrazito pozitivni širom svijeta jer je do danas procijepljeno više od 60 milijuna ljudi i ne postoje dokumenti o teškim neželjenim posljedicama ili smrtnosti zbog cijepljenja.
Najnoviji podaci pokazuju da sva ta cjepiva štite i od prenošenja virusa na druge osobe, jer cijepljeni pojedinci imaju značajno slabiju mogućnost širenja virusnih čestica.
Kako djeluju?
Što se tiče djelovanja, sve te vrste cjepiva djeluju na isti antigen, odnosno protein šiljak koronavirusa. Na taj antigen stvara se značajan imunosni odgovor stvaranjem protutijela i staničnih T stanica. One su brana u našem organizmu protiv virusa. Prema dosadašnjim podacima, ne postoji značajna razlika između imuniteta AZ/oxfordskog cjepiva i onih glasničke RNK jer je antigen isti.
Koje su razlike?
Postoje razlike u pripremanju, primjeni i skladištenju tih cjepiva, no ne u njihovoj cjelokupnoj djelotvornosti.

Za sada postoji nekoliko studija i sva su cjepiva djelotvorna protiv britanske varijante, no nešto je manja djelotvornost AZ cjepiva na južnoafričku varijantu. No, to nije značajan problem jer AZ cjepivo i dalje dovoljno štiti svaku osobu.
Treba li se koristiti AstraZenecino cjepivo za starije od 65 godina?
Prema odluci Europske medicinske agencije, kao i WHO-a, odobreno je cijepljenje za sve dobne skupine. U nekim zemljama postavljana su pitanja o broju testiranih tijekom kliničkih pokusa i AZ isporučuje dodatne podatke. Znači, ne radi se o problemu djelotvornosti cjepiva, nego povećanju brojeva i statistike tijekom kliničkih pokusa.
Što se može dogoditi ako se kasni s cijepljenjem?
Svaki pojedinac koji se cijepi prema protokolima štiti prije svega sebe od bolesti, smrtnosti i mogućih komplikacija post-COVID sindroma. Kolektivno, ako budemo kasnili i ne budemo zaštitili više od 70 posto ljudi, može doći do daljnjeg širenja virusa u populaciji i stvaranja sve više novih varijanti virusa koje mogu biti sve ozbiljnije. Stoga je nužna suradnja građana i zdravstvenog sustava da se što prije omogući procijepljenost populacije i kolektivna zaštita.
Kako je najbolje boriti se protiv budućih promjena virusa?
Osim ova tri cjepiva, koja je u Europi odobrila agencija EMA, možemo očekivati još pet novih koja će biti u primjeni do ljeta (Janssen, Sputnjik V, NovaVax, Sinopharm, SinoVac). To će biti dodatna pomoć u borbi protiv pandemije COVID-a. Najveće mogućnosti otvaraju kombinacije cjepiva u budućnosti, što će nam osigurati pobjedu i protiv budućih novih sojeva. Primjerice, ljudi koji su cijepljeni AZ cjepivom zaštićeni su od standardnih varijanti, a mRNK tehnologija može brzo razviti nova cjepiva protiv novih sojeva i na taj ćemo način osigurati i brzu borbu protiv svih varijanti COVID-a.
Hoću li se ja cijepiti?
Naravno da hoću! Radim u sveučilišnoj bolnici kao znanstvenik i doći ću na red krajem ožujka, a cijepit ću se cjepivom koje mi ponude, bilo to AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna... Nema biranja jer, kao što sam rekao, sva su cjepiva dobra i stoga je moja poruka za kraj: ljudi, cijepite se bilo kojim od odobrenih cjepiva, bio to Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna. Čekanjem i biranjem samo dovodite u opasnost sebe i svoje bližnje. A i to "čekanje i biranje" nema znanstveno uporište jer, kako smo već rekli, sva odobrena cjepiva uspješno nas štite od hospitalizacije i smrti.
