Cjepivo protiv koronavirusa koje je razvilo Sveučilište u Oxfordu čini se sigurnim i stimulira imunološki sustav, javlja BBC.
Ispitivanja u kojima je sudjelovalo 1077 osoba pokazala su da je cjepivo dovelo do toga da imunološki sustav proizvodi antitijela i bijele krvne stanice koje se mogu boriti protiv korone.
Otkrića su vrlo obećavajuća, ali još je prerano da se sa sigurnošću zna je li to dovoljno za potpunu zaštitu pa su u tijeku još šira ispitivanja.
Cjepivo, nazvano ChAdOx1 nCoV-19, razvija se dosad neviđenom brzinom, tvrdi BBC. Napravljeno je od genski modificiranog virusa koji uzrokuje prehladu kod čimpanzi.
Znanstvenici su ga prvo znatno izmijenili kako ne bi mogao izazvati infekcije kod ljudi, ali i da 'izgleda' više poput koronavirusa. Učinili su to tako što su na cjepivo koje su razvijali prebacili genetske upute za šiljasti protein koronavirusa, ključni 'alat' kojim napada naše stanice.
To znači da cjepivo nalikuje koronavirusu i imunološki sustav može naučiti kako ga napadati.
Dosad se fokus znanstvenika odnosio na antitijela, ali to je samo jedan dio obrane našeg imunološkog sustava. Antitijela su mali proteini koje stvara imunološki sustav koji se lijepe na površinu virusa. Neutralizirajuća antitijela mogu onemogućiti koronavirus da napadne stanice u našem tijelu.
T-limfociti, vrsta bijelih krvnih stanica, pomažu u koordinaciji imunološkog sustava i sposobne su uočiti koja je tjelesna stanica zaražena i uništiti ih. Gotovo sva učinkovita cjepiva induciraju i antitijelo i T-limfocitni odgovor.
Razine T-limfocita dosegnule su vrhunac 14 dana nakon cijepljenja, a razina antitijela dosegla je maksimum nakon 28 dana. Studija nije trajala dovoljno dugo da bismo shvatili kako dugotrajni imunitet može izgledati.
BBC tvrdi da cjepivo jest sigurno, ali i da postoje nuspojave. No, uzimanje cjepiva nije izazivalo opasne nuspojave, oko 70 posto ljudi imalo je vrućicu ili glavobolju. Istraživači kažu da bi se taj problem mogao riješiti paracetamolom.
- Ima još mnogo posla prije nego što možemo potvrditi hoće li naše cjepivo pomoći u upravljanju pandemijom Covida-19, ali rani rezultati obećavaju, rekla je profesorica Sarah Gilbert sa Sveučilišta u Oxfordu.
Velika Britanija je već naručila 100 milijuna doza cjepiva,piše Jutarnji list.

Cjepivo protiv koronavirusa koje je razvilo Sveučilište u Oxfordu čini se sigurnim i stimulira imunološki sustav, javlja BBC.
Ispitivanja u kojima je sudjelovalo 1077 osoba pokazala su da je cjepivo dovelo do toga da imunološki sustav proizvodi antitijela i bijele krvne stanice koje se mogu boriti protiv korone.
Otkrića su vrlo obećavajuća, ali još je prerano da se sa sigurnošću zna je li to dovoljno za potpunu zaštitu pa su u tijeku još šira ispitivanja.
Cjepivo, nazvano ChAdOx1 nCoV-19, razvija se dosad neviđenom brzinom, tvrdi BBC. Napravljeno je od genski modificiranog virusa koji uzrokuje prehladu kod čimpanzi.
Znanstvenici su ga prvo znatno izmijenili kako ne bi mogao izazvati infekcije kod ljudi, ali i da 'izgleda' više poput koronavirusa. Učinili su to tako što su na cjepivo koje su razvijali prebacili genetske upute za šiljasti protein koronavirusa, ključni 'alat' kojim napada naše stanice.
To znači da cjepivo nalikuje koronavirusu i imunološki sustav može naučiti kako ga napadati.
Dosad se fokus znanstvenika odnosio na antitijela, ali to je samo jedan dio obrane našeg imunološkog sustava. Antitijela su mali proteini koje stvara imunološki sustav koji se lijepe na površinu virusa. Neutralizirajuća antitijela mogu onemogućiti koronavirus da napadne stanice u našem tijelu.
T-limfociti, vrsta bijelih krvnih stanica, pomažu u koordinaciji imunološkog sustava i sposobne su uočiti koja je tjelesna stanica zaražena i uništiti ih. Gotovo sva učinkovita cjepiva induciraju i antitijelo i T-limfocitni odgovor.
Razine T-limfocita dosegnule su vrhunac 14 dana nakon cijepljenja, a razina antitijela dosegla je maksimum nakon 28 dana. Studija nije trajala dovoljno dugo da bismo shvatili kako dugotrajni imunitet može izgledati.
BBC tvrdi da cjepivo jest sigurno, ali i da postoje nuspojave. No, uzimanje cjepiva nije izazivalo opasne nuspojave, oko 70 posto ljudi imalo je vrućicu ili glavobolju. Istraživači kažu da bi se taj problem mogao riješiti paracetamolom.
- Ima još mnogo posla prije nego što možemo potvrditi hoće li naše cjepivo pomoći u upravljanju pandemijom Covida-19, ali rani rezultati obećavaju, rekla je profesorica Sarah Gilbert sa Sveučilišta u Oxfordu.
Velika Britanija je već naručila 100 milijuna doza cjepiva,piše Jutarnji list.
