Odluka suca okruga Manhattan Williama Pauleya, koji je odbacio prijedlog ACLU-a za preliminarnu zabranu programa, odstupa od presude washingtonskog suca Richarda Leona od 16. prosinca da je "gotovo orwellovski" program vjerojatno neustavan.

Postojanje programa prvi je razotkrio bivši suradnik NSA Edward Snowden. Na odluci od 54 stranice Pauley je naveo da program "kupi informaciju o praktički svakom telefonskom pozivu prema, iz i unutar Sjedinjenih Država".

No Pauley je ocijenio i da je ustavnost programa "naposlijetku pitanje razboritosti" i da nema dokaza da je vlada najveći dio podataka koristila za bilo što drugo osim istraga i sprječavanja terorističkih napada.

"Tehnologija omogućuje al Kaidi da radi decentralizirano i s daljine organizira međunarodne terorističke napade", napisao je Pauley i ocijenio da program prikupljanja podataka o telefonskoj komunikaciji predstavlja "vladin protuudar".

Odluka suca okruga Manhattan Williama Pauleya, koji je odbacio prijedlog ACLU-a za preliminarnu zabranu programa, odstupa od presude washingtonskog suca Richarda Leona od 16. prosinca da je "gotovo orwellovski" program vjerojatno neustavan.

Postojanje programa prvi je razotkrio bivši suradnik NSA Edward Snowden. Na odluci od 54 stranice Pauley je naveo da program "kupi informaciju o praktički svakom telefonskom pozivu prema, iz i unutar Sjedinjenih Država".

No Pauley je ocijenio i da je ustavnost programa "naposlijetku pitanje razboritosti" i da nema dokaza da je vlada najveći dio podataka koristila za bilo što drugo osim istraga i sprječavanja terorističkih napada.

"Tehnologija omogućuje al Kaidi da radi decentralizirano i s daljine organizira međunarodne terorističke napade", napisao je Pauley i ocijenio da program prikupljanja podataka o telefonskoj komunikaciji predstavlja "vladin protuudar".

Sudac u SAD-u presudio je u petak da je program Nacionalne sigurnosne agencije SAD-a (NSA) kojime se bilježe milijuni telefonskih razgovora Amerikanaca zakonit i tako odbacio zahtjev Američke unije za građanska prava (ACLU) da se prekine sporni protuteroristički program.
