Amerika se s Joeom Bidenom na čelu sve sustavnije vraća antagonizaciji, staroj dobroj političkoj matrici među globalnim silama. Ako na nacionalnim scenama povremeno i imaju rezona, velike mirovne koalicije na svjetskom su planu suvisle tek ako ste nesvrstani i dovoljno mali.

Nakon obnove hladnog rata s Rusijom i Putinom, Amerika je sa zapadnim saveznicima nedavno odlučila ući i u ozbiljni diplomatski prijepor s Kinom, i to zbog dugogodišnjih kršenja ljudskih prava i genocida nad Ujgurima. Koordinirana kampanja pokrenuta je u trenutku posjete državnoga tajnika Antonyja Blinkena Bruxellesu: SAD, Kanada, Velika Britanija i Europska unija najavili su uvođenje žestokih ekonomskih sankcija Kini zbog izvješća o sistematskom progonu ujgurskog naroda.

State Department vjeruje da je oko dva milijuna Ujgura i pripadnika drugih muslimanskih manjina smješteno u rasprostranjenu mrežu centara za zadržavanje diljem kineske regije Xinjiang. Bivši uhićenici svjedoče kako su tamo bili izloženi prisilnom radu, indoktrinaciji, seksualnom zlostavljanju, pa čak i prisilnoj sterilizaciji.

Ujguri su etnička skupina u istočnoj i srednjoj Aziji, ukupno ih je oko devet milijuna, a od čega ih najveći dio živi u Kini. Manje zajednice postoje i u Kazahstanu, Kirgistanu, Uzbekistanu, Afganistanu, Pakistanu i Turskoj. Prema religijskoj pripadnosti većinski su sunitski muslimani, a govore ujgurskim jezikom. Kao religijska manjina u Kini već su dugo vremena zapostavljani, a sistematičniji progoni od strane tamošnjeg režima otpočeli su još devedesetih godina. Represija u pokrajini Xinijang invenzivirana je 2017., kad je pokrenuta nemilosrdna kampanja masovnog ujgurskog progona iz njihovih domova, pritvaranja u logore, te slanja na prisilni rad. Mnoga djeca su prisilno razdvojena od roditelja te odvedena u državna sirotišta.

Brojni izvještaji udruga za ljudska prava od tada tvrde kako Kina programatski pokušava smanjiti gustoću ujgurske populacije, tjerajući ih na asimilaciju ili nestanak. Kineska vlada rutinski negira takve optužbe tvrdeći da su programi u Xinjiangu kreirani samo u cilju smanjenja siromaštva. Logore službeno predstavljaju kao „edukacijske centre za obrazovanje i obuku“. Pristup tim centrima posve je onemogućen međunarodnim promatračima i aktivistima ljudskih prava, no posredna izvješća govore o nasilnim sterilizacijama, napadima na žene, potiskivanju i destrukciji kulturnih i religijskih ujgurskih tradicija i lokaliteta.

Službeni Peking vrlo rijetko priznaje provedbu ikakvih represivnih tehnika, obrazlažući ih isključivo potrebom suzbijanja muslimanskog vjerskog ekstremizma.

Amerika se s Joeom Bidenom na čelu sve sustavnije vraća antagonizaciji, staroj dobroj političkoj matrici među globalnim silama. Ako na nacionalnim scenama povremeno i imaju rezona, velike mirovne koalicije na svjetskom su planu suvisle tek ako ste nesvrstani i dovoljno mali.

Nakon obnove hladnog rata s Rusijom i Putinom, Amerika je sa zapadnim saveznicima nedavno odlučila ući i u ozbiljni diplomatski prijepor s Kinom, i to zbog dugogodišnjih kršenja ljudskih prava i genocida nad Ujgurima. Koordinirana kampanja pokrenuta je u trenutku posjete državnoga tajnika Antonyja Blinkena Bruxellesu: SAD, Kanada, Velika Britanija i Europska unija najavili su uvođenje žestokih ekonomskih sankcija Kini zbog izvješća o sistematskom progonu ujgurskog naroda.

State Department vjeruje da je oko dva milijuna Ujgura i pripadnika drugih muslimanskih manjina smješteno u rasprostranjenu mrežu centara za zadržavanje diljem kineske regije Xinjiang. Bivši uhićenici svjedoče kako su tamo bili izloženi prisilnom radu, indoktrinaciji, seksualnom zlostavljanju, pa čak i prisilnoj sterilizaciji.

Ujguri su etnička skupina u istočnoj i srednjoj Aziji, ukupno ih je oko devet milijuna, a od čega ih najveći dio živi u Kini. Manje zajednice postoje i u Kazahstanu, Kirgistanu, Uzbekistanu, Afganistanu, Pakistanu i Turskoj. Prema religijskoj pripadnosti većinski su sunitski muslimani, a govore ujgurskim jezikom. Kao religijska manjina u Kini već su dugo vremena zapostavljani, a sistematičniji progoni od strane tamošnjeg režima otpočeli su još devedesetih godina. Represija u pokrajini Xinijang invenzivirana je 2017., kad je pokrenuta nemilosrdna kampanja masovnog ujgurskog progona iz njihovih domova, pritvaranja u logore, te slanja na prisilni rad. Mnoga djeca su prisilno razdvojena od roditelja te odvedena u državna sirotišta.

Brojni izvještaji udruga za ljudska prava od tada tvrde kako Kina programatski pokušava smanjiti gustoću ujgurske populacije, tjerajući ih na asimilaciju ili nestanak. Kineska vlada rutinski negira takve optužbe tvrdeći da su programi u Xinjiangu kreirani samo u cilju smanjenja siromaštva. Logore službeno predstavljaju kao „edukacijske centre za obrazovanje i obuku“. Pristup tim centrima posve je onemogućen međunarodnim promatračima i aktivistima ljudskih prava, no posredna izvješća govore o nasilnim sterilizacijama, napadima na žene, potiskivanju i destrukciji kulturnih i religijskih ujgurskih tradicija i lokaliteta.

Službeni Peking vrlo rijetko priznaje provedbu ikakvih represivnih tehnika, obrazlažući ih isključivo potrebom suzbijanja muslimanskog vjerskog ekstremizma.
