Tim predvođen čelnikom Međunarodne agencije za atomsku energiju/IAEA) krenuo je u srijedu iz Kijeva u rusku nuklearnu elektranu u južnoj Ukrajini koja je izazvala globalnu zabrinutost.
Najveća nuklearna elektrana u Europi Zaporižja nalazi se na prvoj liniji bojišta između ruskih i ukrajinskih snaga, a područje je posljednjih dana u više navrata granatirano. Dvije strane optužuju se međusobno za te napade.
"Konačno krećemo", rekao je novinarima šef IAEA-e Rafael Grossi, koji je u Kijev stigao u ponedjeljak s timom od 13 članova.
Grossi je rekao da su inspektori planirali provesti "nekoliko dana" u elektrani i da će se nakon toga podnijeti izviješće.
Tvornicu su okupirale ruske snage u ožujku, a Ukrajina je optužila Rusiju da je tamo rasporedila stotine vojnika i skladištila streljivo.
Ukrajina se isprva bojala da bi posjet IAEA-e Zaporižju legitimizirao rusku okupaciju mjesta, prije nego što je konačno podržala ideju o misiji.
Ukrajina je inzistirala na tome da misija tamo treba otputovati s teritorija koji drže Ukrajinci, što znači da će inspektori morati prijeći crtu bojišnice uz sigurnosna jamstva s obje strane.
"Nažalost, Rusija ne zaustavlja svoje provokacije upravo u smjerovima kojima misija treba ići da bi stigla u elektranu", rekao je ukrajinski predsjednik Volodimir Zelenskij u svom dnevnom obraćanju naciji u utorak nakon sastanka s Grossijem.
"Nadam se da će tim IAEA-e moći započeti s radom", dodao je, nazvavši situaciju u postrojenju "krajnje prijetećom".
"Okupatori nisu napustili postrojenje, nastavljaju s bombardiranjem i ne povlače oružje i streljivo s lokacije. Zastrašuju ukrajinsko osoblje. Rizik od nuklearne katastrofe zbog ruskih akcija ne smanjuje se", rekao je.
U međuvremenu, intenzivne borbe bjesne u obližnjim južnim regijama Herson i Donbas, rekao je Zelenskij.
Veći dio regije Herson koja graniči s Crnim morem i istoimenu prijestolnicu pokrajine zauzele su ruske snage na početku invazije prije šest mjeseci.
Budući da je rat u istočnoj regiji Donbasa uglavnom u zastoju, analitičari su tjednima govorili da će se borba vjerojatno pomaknuti prema jugu kako bi se prekinula pat pozicija prije zime.
U utorak je u novim ruskim napadima na središte sjeveroistočnog grada Harkiva ubijeno najmanje pet osoba, a sedam je ranjeno. Ali velik dio pozornosti ostao je na protuofenzivi na jugu.
U Bereznehuvateu, gradu u blizini bojišnice oko 70 kilometara sjeverno od grada Hersona, novinari AFP-a mogli su čuti topničku vatru i vidjeti vojnike kako se odmaraju uz cestu.
"Dosta smo ih pogurali", rekao je Viktor, pripadnik pješaštva u svojim 60-ima koji je odbio dati prezime.
Ali njegov zapovjednik Oleksandr, veteran sovjetskog rata u Afganistanu, predvidio je da će borba za ponovno preuzimanje Hersona biti "duga i komplicirana".
Rusko ministarstvo obrane ustvrdilo je u utorak da je Ukrajina doživjela "poraz" u južnom protunapadu, pretrpjevši "velike gubitke" od više od 1200 vojnika i oko 150 vojnih vozila.
Ukrajinsko predsjedništvo tvrdi da su njegove snage uništile "gotovo sve velike mostove" preko Dnjepra i da su "ostali samo pješački prijelazi" u regiji Herson.
Tijekom noći, grad Mikolajiv koji drže Ukrajinci, 80 kilometara sjeverozapadno od Hersona, bio je izložen "žestokom bombardiranju", pri čemu su ruski protuzračni projektili ubili dva civila i ranili 24, priopćilo je južno zapovjedništvo vojske.
Do novih sukoba došlo je dok su se studenti diljem Ukrajine pripremali za početak nove akademske godine nakon što su škole zatvorene zbog ruske invazije, koja je sada u sedmom mjesecu.
Samo onim školama s bunkerima protiv zračne opasnosti bit će dopušteno ponovno otvaranje, dok će se ostale vratiti na online učenje.
"Samo želimo živjeti svoj život u potpunosti", rekla je 16-godišnja učenica Polina za AFP u Kijevu.
"Ne bojimo se, već smo dovoljno proživjeli. Naša generacija odlučila je živjeti u sadašnjem trenutku."

Tim predvođen čelnikom Međunarodne agencije za atomsku energiju/IAEA) krenuo je u srijedu iz Kijeva u rusku nuklearnu elektranu u južnoj Ukrajini koja je izazvala globalnu zabrinutost.
Najveća nuklearna elektrana u Europi Zaporižja nalazi se na prvoj liniji bojišta između ruskih i ukrajinskih snaga, a područje je posljednjih dana u više navrata granatirano. Dvije strane optužuju se međusobno za te napade.
"Konačno krećemo", rekao je novinarima šef IAEA-e Rafael Grossi, koji je u Kijev stigao u ponedjeljak s timom od 13 članova.
Grossi je rekao da su inspektori planirali provesti "nekoliko dana" u elektrani i da će se nakon toga podnijeti izviješće.
Tvornicu su okupirale ruske snage u ožujku, a Ukrajina je optužila Rusiju da je tamo rasporedila stotine vojnika i skladištila streljivo.
Ukrajina se isprva bojala da bi posjet IAEA-e Zaporižju legitimizirao rusku okupaciju mjesta, prije nego što je konačno podržala ideju o misiji.
Ukrajina je inzistirala na tome da misija tamo treba otputovati s teritorija koji drže Ukrajinci, što znači da će inspektori morati prijeći crtu bojišnice uz sigurnosna jamstva s obje strane.
"Nažalost, Rusija ne zaustavlja svoje provokacije upravo u smjerovima kojima misija treba ići da bi stigla u elektranu", rekao je ukrajinski predsjednik Volodimir Zelenskij u svom dnevnom obraćanju naciji u utorak nakon sastanka s Grossijem.
"Nadam se da će tim IAEA-e moći započeti s radom", dodao je, nazvavši situaciju u postrojenju "krajnje prijetećom".
"Okupatori nisu napustili postrojenje, nastavljaju s bombardiranjem i ne povlače oružje i streljivo s lokacije. Zastrašuju ukrajinsko osoblje. Rizik od nuklearne katastrofe zbog ruskih akcija ne smanjuje se", rekao je.
U međuvremenu, intenzivne borbe bjesne u obližnjim južnim regijama Herson i Donbas, rekao je Zelenskij.
Veći dio regije Herson koja graniči s Crnim morem i istoimenu prijestolnicu pokrajine zauzele su ruske snage na početku invazije prije šest mjeseci.
Budući da je rat u istočnoj regiji Donbasa uglavnom u zastoju, analitičari su tjednima govorili da će se borba vjerojatno pomaknuti prema jugu kako bi se prekinula pat pozicija prije zime.
U utorak je u novim ruskim napadima na središte sjeveroistočnog grada Harkiva ubijeno najmanje pet osoba, a sedam je ranjeno. Ali velik dio pozornosti ostao je na protuofenzivi na jugu.
U Bereznehuvateu, gradu u blizini bojišnice oko 70 kilometara sjeverno od grada Hersona, novinari AFP-a mogli su čuti topničku vatru i vidjeti vojnike kako se odmaraju uz cestu.
"Dosta smo ih pogurali", rekao je Viktor, pripadnik pješaštva u svojim 60-ima koji je odbio dati prezime.
Ali njegov zapovjednik Oleksandr, veteran sovjetskog rata u Afganistanu, predvidio je da će borba za ponovno preuzimanje Hersona biti "duga i komplicirana".
Rusko ministarstvo obrane ustvrdilo je u utorak da je Ukrajina doživjela "poraz" u južnom protunapadu, pretrpjevši "velike gubitke" od više od 1200 vojnika i oko 150 vojnih vozila.
Ukrajinsko predsjedništvo tvrdi da su njegove snage uništile "gotovo sve velike mostove" preko Dnjepra i da su "ostali samo pješački prijelazi" u regiji Herson.
Tijekom noći, grad Mikolajiv koji drže Ukrajinci, 80 kilometara sjeverozapadno od Hersona, bio je izložen "žestokom bombardiranju", pri čemu su ruski protuzračni projektili ubili dva civila i ranili 24, priopćilo je južno zapovjedništvo vojske.
Do novih sukoba došlo je dok su se studenti diljem Ukrajine pripremali za početak nove akademske godine nakon što su škole zatvorene zbog ruske invazije, koja je sada u sedmom mjesecu.
Samo onim školama s bunkerima protiv zračne opasnosti bit će dopušteno ponovno otvaranje, dok će se ostale vratiti na online učenje.
"Samo želimo živjeti svoj život u potpunosti", rekla je 16-godišnja učenica Polina za AFP u Kijevu.
"Ne bojimo se, već smo dovoljno proživjeli. Naša generacija odlučila je živjeti u sadašnjem trenutku."
