Visoki dužnosnik UN-a poručio je u ponedjeljak kako je zaprepašten izvještajima o ubojstvu najmanje 35 civila u Mjanmaru te je pozvao vlasti da istraže slučaj, za koji opozicijski aktivisti optužuju mjanmarsku vojsku.
Vladajuća vojna hunta nije komentirala ubojstvo 35 civila blizu sela Mo So u državi Kayah u petak.
Državni medij objavio samo da su vojnici pucali i ubili određeni broj “terorista s oružjem”, odnosno pripadnika milicije koja se bori protiv vojne hunte. Državna televizija nije spominjala civilne žrtve.
Zamjenik glavnog tajnika UN-a za humanitarne poslove Martin Griffiths kazao je da su izvještaji o ubojstvu civila, među kojima je i najmanje jedno dijete, kredibilni.
“Osuđujem ovaj teški incident i sve napade na civile, koji su zabranjeni po međunarodnom humanitarnom pravu, širom zemlje”, poručio je priopćenjem.
Griffiths je pozvao na “detaljnu i transparentnu” istragu kako bi krivci mogli biti privedeni pravdi te je pozvao na zaštitu civila.
Stanovnici i udruge za zaštitu ljudskih prava, koje djeluju u tom području, kažu da su vojnici ubili civile.
Mjanmar je u previranju otkako je prije gotovo 11 mjeseci vojska svrgnula izabranu vladu nobelovke Aung San Suu Kyi, tvrdeći da je na izborima u studenome pobijedila njezina stranka.
Međunarodni promatrači rekli su da je glasanje bilo pošteno.
Više od 1300 ljudi ubijeno je tijekom nasilnog suzbijanja prosvjeda protiv vojne hunte, a zatvoreno je više od 11 tisuća ljudi, procjenjuje Udruženje za pomoć političkim zatvorenicima, što vojna hunta odbacuje.
Dio protivnika vojne hunte odlučio se za oružani otpor i povezivanje s gerilskim borcima iz manjinskih etničkih skupina koje se bore godinama za samoodređenje, a jedna od najvećih takvih skupina su karenski pobunjenici u državi Kayah/Karenni.

Visoki dužnosnik UN-a poručio je u ponedjeljak kako je zaprepašten izvještajima o ubojstvu najmanje 35 civila u Mjanmaru te je pozvao vlasti da istraže slučaj, za koji opozicijski aktivisti optužuju mjanmarsku vojsku.
Vladajuća vojna hunta nije komentirala ubojstvo 35 civila blizu sela Mo So u državi Kayah u petak.
Državni medij objavio samo da su vojnici pucali i ubili određeni broj “terorista s oružjem”, odnosno pripadnika milicije koja se bori protiv vojne hunte. Državna televizija nije spominjala civilne žrtve.
Zamjenik glavnog tajnika UN-a za humanitarne poslove Martin Griffiths kazao je da su izvještaji o ubojstvu civila, među kojima je i najmanje jedno dijete, kredibilni.
“Osuđujem ovaj teški incident i sve napade na civile, koji su zabranjeni po međunarodnom humanitarnom pravu, širom zemlje”, poručio je priopćenjem.
Griffiths je pozvao na “detaljnu i transparentnu” istragu kako bi krivci mogli biti privedeni pravdi te je pozvao na zaštitu civila.
Stanovnici i udruge za zaštitu ljudskih prava, koje djeluju u tom području, kažu da su vojnici ubili civile.
Mjanmar je u previranju otkako je prije gotovo 11 mjeseci vojska svrgnula izabranu vladu nobelovke Aung San Suu Kyi, tvrdeći da je na izborima u studenome pobijedila njezina stranka.
Međunarodni promatrači rekli su da je glasanje bilo pošteno.
Više od 1300 ljudi ubijeno je tijekom nasilnog suzbijanja prosvjeda protiv vojne hunte, a zatvoreno je više od 11 tisuća ljudi, procjenjuje Udruženje za pomoć političkim zatvorenicima, što vojna hunta odbacuje.
Dio protivnika vojne hunte odlučio se za oružani otpor i povezivanje s gerilskim borcima iz manjinskih etničkih skupina koje se bore godinama za samoodređenje, a jedna od najvećih takvih skupina su karenski pobunjenici u državi Kayah/Karenni.
