Teniski Cincinnati Masters mogao bi se ove godine preseliti iz savezne države Ohio u New York i biti odigran u tjednu prije US Opena, na terenima Nacionalnog teniskog centra Billie Jean King, na kojima bi u nastavku bio odigran drugi ovogodišnji Grand Slam turnir, javlja New York Times.

To je prijedlog Američkog teniskog saveza (USTA) kojim se nastoji pomoći turnirima koji pripadaju krugu najznačajnijih teniskih natjecanja u Sjevernoj Americi, da se ipak održe, unatoč kaosu koji je kreirala pandemija bolesti Covid-19.

Prethodno su organizatori oba turnira izrazila želju da se održe onako kako je planirano originalnim kalendarom, prema kojemu je natjecanje u Cincinnatiju trebalo završiti 23. kolovoza, a početak US Open je bio predviđen za 31. kolovoza.

Prema napisu u New York Timesu, združivanjem Cincinnati Mastersa i US Opena tjedan za tjednom i odigravanjem oba turnira na istome mjestu, USTA nastoji što je moguće više smanjiti rizik koji donose putovanja za igračice i igrače te sve ostale koji će biti uključeni. O ovom su prijedlog obaviješteni ATP i WTA Tour.

Teniski svijet je zaustavljen početkom ožujka, a međunarodnih natjecanja zasigurno neće biti najmanje do početka kolovoza. Tenisačice i tenisači su se polako počeli vraćati u akciju kroz lokalne turnire, a uskoro ćemo jednom takvom svjedočiti i u Osijeku, gdje je hrvatska Fed Cup reprezentativka Donna Vekić uspjela okupiti gotovo sve igračice i igrače koji predstavljaju sadašnjost i budućnost te prošlost hrvatskog tenisa u posljednjih tridesetak godina.

U ovom trenutku su se tenisačice i tenisači trebali boriti za trofeje na drugom Grand Slam turniru sezone, na pariškoj crvenoj zemlji u Roland Garrosu, ali je turnir zbog pandemije izazvane širenjem zaraze koronavirusom odgođen za jesen. Prema sadašnjem planu Roland Garros bi trebao započeti samo tjedan dana po završetku US Opena, što bi predstavljalo veliki izazov za igračice i igrače po pitanju prilagodbe na novu podlogu.

Teniski Cincinnati Masters mogao bi se ove godine preseliti iz savezne države Ohio u New York i biti odigran u tjednu prije US Opena, na terenima Nacionalnog teniskog centra Billie Jean King, na kojima bi u nastavku bio odigran drugi ovogodišnji Grand Slam turnir, javlja New York Times.

To je prijedlog Američkog teniskog saveza (USTA) kojim se nastoji pomoći turnirima koji pripadaju krugu najznačajnijih teniskih natjecanja u Sjevernoj Americi, da se ipak održe, unatoč kaosu koji je kreirala pandemija bolesti Covid-19.

Prethodno su organizatori oba turnira izrazila želju da se održe onako kako je planirano originalnim kalendarom, prema kojemu je natjecanje u Cincinnatiju trebalo završiti 23. kolovoza, a početak US Open je bio predviđen za 31. kolovoza.

Prema napisu u New York Timesu, združivanjem Cincinnati Mastersa i US Opena tjedan za tjednom i odigravanjem oba turnira na istome mjestu, USTA nastoji što je moguće više smanjiti rizik koji donose putovanja za igračice i igrače te sve ostale koji će biti uključeni. O ovom su prijedlog obaviješteni ATP i WTA Tour.

Teniski svijet je zaustavljen početkom ožujka, a međunarodnih natjecanja zasigurno neće biti najmanje do početka kolovoza. Tenisačice i tenisači su se polako počeli vraćati u akciju kroz lokalne turnire, a uskoro ćemo jednom takvom svjedočiti i u Osijeku, gdje je hrvatska Fed Cup reprezentativka Donna Vekić uspjela okupiti gotovo sve igračice i igrače koji predstavljaju sadašnjost i budućnost te prošlost hrvatskog tenisa u posljednjih tridesetak godina.

U ovom trenutku su se tenisačice i tenisači trebali boriti za trofeje na drugom Grand Slam turniru sezone, na pariškoj crvenoj zemlji u Roland Garrosu, ali je turnir zbog pandemije izazvane širenjem zaraze koronavirusom odgođen za jesen. Prema sadašnjem planu Roland Garros bi trebao započeti samo tjedan dana po završetku US Opena, što bi predstavljalo veliki izazov za igračice i igrače po pitanju prilagodbe na novu podlogu.

Teniski Cincinnati Masters mogao bi se ove godine preseliti iz savezne države Ohio u New York i biti odigran u tjednu prije US Opena, na terenima Nacionalnog teniskog centra Billie Jean King, na kojima bi u nastavku bio odigran drugi ovogodišnji Grand Slam turnir, javlja New York Times.

To je prijedlog Američkog teniskog saveza (USTA) kojim se nastoji pomoći turnirima koji pripadaju krugu najznačajnijih teniskih natjecanja u Sjevernoj Americi, da se ipak održe, unatoč kaosu koji je kreirala pandemija bolesti Covid-19.

Prethodno su organizatori oba turnira izrazila želju da se održe onako kako je planirano originalnim kalendarom, prema kojemu je natjecanje u Cincinnatiju trebalo završiti 23. kolovoza, a početak US Open je bio predviđen za 31. kolovoza.
