Kada je prije petnaest godina zaplovio Tres Hombres, u to vrijeme jedini trgovački jedrenjak bez motora u 21. stoljeću, Andreas, Arjen i Jorne, trojica prijatelja čiji je to san i projekt bio, znali su da će njihov brod privlačiti pažnju ljudi. No, nisu očekivali da će privući i pažnju jednog dupina.

Od svibnja do listopada jedrenjak plovi morima Sjeverne Europe, a onda se, do proljeća, prebaci na Karibe, odakle se s teretom ruma i zrna kakaovca vraća u Nizozemsku. Prije dvije su godine isplovili ne znajući, zbog korone, kad i gdje će moći pristati.

Morali su preskočiti svoje redovne luke na Azorima i u Portugalu, te su nakon 37 dana plovidbe pristali tek u francuskom Douarnenezu. Ni tu nisu smjeli izići na kopno. Nakon nekoliko dana i opskrbe broda svim neophodnim za daljnju plovidbu, nastavili su prema Nizozemskoj.

Veseli pratitelj

Na samom početku te, posljednje etape puta, pridružio im se i jedan dobri dupin (Tursiops truncatus). Pretpostavljali su da će ih malo pratiti, uveseliti nekim skokom i nakon nekog vremena napustiti. Ali Zafar, kako se poslije ispostavilo da se dupin zove, nije ih napuštao.

Vidjevši da ih uporno prati, kontaktirali su lokalne stručnjake koji su im rekli da taj dupin živi u moru oko Bretanje, da je star oko dvadeset godina (što je otprilike polovica njegova očekivanog životnog vijeka) i da je uvijek sam, nikad u jatu s drugim dupinima. Tu i tamo prati neki brod i onda se opet vrati samačkom životu. Prozvali su ga Zafar, što na arapskom znači “pobjeda”.

Sve vrijeme Zafar je pratio i uveseljavao posadu Tres Hombresa. Nisu ga ničim hranili. Rečeno im je da ga se ne smije dodatno navikavati na ljude. Nakon pet dana plovidbe stigli su pred Ijmuiden. Tu se ulazi u kanal koji spaja Sjeverno more i Amsterdam.

Dupin u Amsterdamu nije čest prizor

Na ulazu u kanal je ustava pomoću koje se svladava razlika u vodostaju mora i kanala. Ispred nje je remorker uzeo jedrenjak u tegalj, a kroz ustavu je prošao i Zafar. Nakon 25 kilometara plovidbe čudnovati konvoj je stigao u Amsterdam. Vezali su se ispred tvornice čokolade za koju su donijeli kakao.

Zafar je cijelo vrijeme bio uz jedrenjak. Koliko god mu je bilo lijepo i zabavno uveseljavati lučke radnike i radnike tvornice čokolade, tu nije smio dugo ostati. Biolozi iz udruge SOS Dolfijn rekli su da bočata voda amsterdamske luke nije zdrava životna sredina za morskog dupina. Trebalo ga je vratiti u slano more.

Bolan rastanak

U nedjelju 3. svibnja došao je remorker i opet 25 kilometara vukao jedrenjak do Ijmuidena. I opet su prošli ustavu. Ovaj put je uz njih plovio i gumenjak udruge. Kad su izišli na more, iz gumenjaka su se zaigrali s dupinom i namamili ga malo dalje od obale. Remorker i Tres Hombres su se okrenuli i vratili u ustavu koja je zatvorila svoja vrata i tako razdvojila jedrenjak i dupina.

Remorker je brod i tužnu posadu vratio u Amsterdam. Bilo im je žao što su se rastali od svoga vjernog pratitelja, a pogotovo zbog načina kako su to izveli. Osjećali su se kao da su ga prevarili i izdali.

Zafarova peraja u obliku sidra

Članovi udruge SOS Dolfijn su idućih dana promatrali i pratili i Zafara. Izgledalo je da se dobro snalazi na otvorenom moru. Malo bi bio sam, pa bi onda plivao oko nekog broda, pa bi se opet osamio. Nijedan mu nije bio drag koliko jedrenjak koji je ugledao pred Douarnenezom i, kao i mnogi drugi, na prvi se pogled u njega zaljubio.

A onda ga nekoliko dana nisu vidjali. SOS Dolfijn je svojim kolegama u Bretanji javio da dupina više nema ispred Ijmuidena i da pretpostavljaju da je krenuo natrag prema Francuskoj. Ali Zafaru se nije napuštalo mjesto gdje su ga rastavili od Tres Hombresa.

U srijedu 13. svibnja, na plažu pokraj Ijmuidena more je izbacilo njegovo tijelo. Odneseno je na veterinarski fakultet u Utrechtu na obdukciju, ali i bez toga bilo je lako utvrditi uzrok smrti. Stradao je od udara nekog brzog broda čiji je propeler odsjekao njegovu repnu peraju.

Kad sam prvi put na stranicama Otvorenog mora pisao o Tres Hombresu, predstavio sam ga kao jedini bezmotorni trgovački jedrenjak u 21. stoljeću. Andreas, Arjen i Jorne su mi rekli da umjesto riječi jedini upotrijebim riječ prvi. Jer, bit će ih još, uvjeravali su me. U međuvremenu je došao Nordlys, a spremaju se za gradnju novog broda. Ne bi me začudilo da taj ponese ime Zafar.

Dupin u Amsterdamu nije čest prizor

Kada je prije petnaest godina zaplovio Tres Hombres, u to vrijeme jedini trgovački jedrenjak bez motora u 21. stoljeću, Andreas, Arjen i Jorne, trojica prijatelja čiji je to san i projekt bio, znali su da će njihov brod privlačiti pažnju ljudi. No, nisu očekivali da će privući i pažnju jednog dupina.

Od svibnja do listopada jedrenjak plovi morima Sjeverne Europe, a onda se, do proljeća, prebaci na Karibe, odakle se s teretom ruma i zrna kakaovca vraća u Nizozemsku. Prije dvije su godine isplovili ne znajući, zbog korone, kad i gdje će moći pristati.

Morali su preskočiti svoje redovne luke na Azorima i u Portugalu, te su nakon 37 dana plovidbe pristali tek u francuskom Douarnenezu. Ni tu nisu smjeli izići na kopno. Nakon nekoliko dana i opskrbe broda svim neophodnim za daljnju plovidbu, nastavili su prema Nizozemskoj.

Veseli pratitelj

Na samom početku te, posljednje etape puta, pridružio im se i jedan dobri dupin (Tursiops truncatus). Pretpostavljali su da će ih malo pratiti, uveseliti nekim skokom i nakon nekog vremena napustiti. Ali Zafar, kako se poslije ispostavilo da se dupin zove, nije ih napuštao.

Vidjevši da ih uporno prati, kontaktirali su lokalne stručnjake koji su im rekli da taj dupin živi u moru oko Bretanje, da je star oko dvadeset godina (što je otprilike polovica njegova očekivanog životnog vijeka) i da je uvijek sam, nikad u jatu s drugim dupinima. Tu i tamo prati neki brod i onda se opet vrati samačkom životu. Prozvali su ga Zafar, što na arapskom znači “pobjeda”.

Sve vrijeme Zafar je pratio i uveseljavao posadu Tres Hombresa. Nisu ga ničim hranili. Rečeno im je da ga se ne smije dodatno navikavati na ljude. Nakon pet dana plovidbe stigli su pred Ijmuiden. Tu se ulazi u kanal koji spaja Sjeverno more i Amsterdam.

Na ulazu u kanal je ustava pomoću koje se svladava razlika u vodostaju mora i kanala. Ispred nje je remorker uzeo jedrenjak u tegalj, a kroz ustavu je prošao i Zafar. Nakon 25 kilometara plovidbe čudnovati konvoj je stigao u Amsterdam. Vezali su se ispred tvornice čokolade za koju su donijeli kakao.

Zafar je cijelo vrijeme bio uz jedrenjak. Koliko god mu je bilo lijepo i zabavno uveseljavati lučke radnike i radnike tvornice čokolade, tu nije smio dugo ostati. Biolozi iz udruge SOS Dolfijn rekli su da bočata voda amsterdamske luke nije zdrava životna sredina za morskog dupina. Trebalo ga je vratiti u slano more.

Bolan rastanak

U nedjelju 3. svibnja došao je remorker i opet 25 kilometara vukao jedrenjak do Ijmuidena. I opet su prošli ustavu. Ovaj put je uz njih plovio i gumenjak udruge. Kad su izišli na more, iz gumenjaka su se zaigrali s dupinom i namamili ga malo dalje od obale. Remorker i Tres Hombres su se okrenuli i vratili u ustavu koja je zatvorila svoja vrata i tako razdvojila jedrenjak i dupina.

Remorker je brod i tužnu posadu vratio u Amsterdam. Bilo im je žao što su se rastali od svoga vjernog pratitelja, a pogotovo zbog načina kako su to izveli. Osjećali su se kao da su ga prevarili i izdali.

Članovi udruge SOS Dolfijn su idućih dana promatrali i pratili i Zafara. Izgledalo je da se dobro snalazi na otvorenom moru. Malo bi bio sam, pa bi onda plivao oko nekog broda, pa bi se opet osamio. Nijedan mu nije bio drag koliko jedrenjak koji je ugledao pred Douarnenezom i, kao i mnogi drugi, na prvi se pogled u njega zaljubio.

A onda ga nekoliko dana nisu vidjali. SOS Dolfijn je svojim kolegama u Bretanji javio da dupina više nema ispred Ijmuidena i da pretpostavljaju da je krenuo natrag prema Francuskoj. Ali Zafaru se nije napuštalo mjesto gdje su ga rastavili od Tres Hombresa.

U srijedu 13. svibnja, na plažu pokraj Ijmuidena more je izbacilo njegovo tijelo. Odneseno je na veterinarski fakultet u Utrechtu na obdukciju, ali i bez toga bilo je lako utvrditi uzrok smrti. Stradao je od udara nekog brzog broda čiji je propeler odsjekao njegovu repnu peraju.

Kad sam prvi put na stranicama Otvorenog mora pisao o Tres Hombresu, predstavio sam ga kao jedini bezmotorni trgovački jedrenjak u 21. stoljeću. Andreas, Arjen i Jorne su mi rekli da umjesto riječi jedini upotrijebim riječ prvi. Jer, bit će ih još, uvjeravali su me. U međuvremenu je došao Nordlys, a spremaju se za gradnju novog broda. Ne bi me začudilo da taj ponese ime Zafar.
