Najnovije snimke najvećeg ledenog brijega na svijetu zabrinule su znanstvenike. Naime, erozija je isklesala goleme lukove i šupljine u najvećem ledenjaku koji se kreće od Antarktike, prikazuju snimke istraživača na brodu EYOS Expeditions, koji je plovio uzduž ledenjaka A23a.

Fotografije otkrivaju golemu santu leda, koja je više nego dvostruko veća od Londona, koja se proteže u daljinu. Prikazuju pukotine, kao i izdubljene špilje, urezane u santu leda. Ledenjak A23a potpuno erodira dok nailazi na blažu klimu i više temperature oceana, piše Jutarnji list.

Ekspedicijski tim svjedočio je kako su se komadi sante leda odlomili u more, rekao je glasnogovornik EYOS Expeditions za CNN.

A23a je u pokretu nakon što je gotovo tri desetljeća bio prizemljen na morskom dnu na Antarktici. Golema ledena masa se otkinula od ledene ploče Filchner-Ronne 1986. godine, gotovo odmah se razlomila i spustila na dno Weddellovog mora.

Debljina sante leda je 400 metara i ima površinu od gotovo 4000 četvornih kilometara. To je više od trostruke površine Los Angelesa.

A23a je držao titulu ‘trenutno najvećeg ledenog brijega‘ nekoliko puta od 1980-tih godina, a povremeno ga nadmašuju veći ledenjaci, ali samo nakratko. Na ‘tron‘ je 2017. zasjeo A68 te ledenjak A76 2021. godine.

Velika santa leda će na kraju potpuno nestati.

Iako se ova santa leda vjerojatno odvojila u sklopu prirodnog ciklusa rasta ledenjaka, znanstvenici tvrde da klimatske promjene izazivaju zabrinjavajuće promjene na golemom, izoliranom kontinentu s potencijalno razornim posljedicama za globalni porast razine mora.

U veljači 2023. godine, morski led na Antarktiku dosegao je najnižu razinu od početka bilježenja, na 1,7 milijuna kvadratnih kilometara, piše Jutarnji list.

Najnovije snimke najvećeg ledenog brijega na svijetu zabrinule su znanstvenike. Naime, erozija je isklesala goleme lukove i šupljine u najvećem ledenjaku koji se kreće od Antarktike, prikazuju snimke istraživača na brodu EYOS Expeditions, koji je plovio uzduž ledenjaka A23a.

Fotografije otkrivaju golemu santu leda, koja je više nego dvostruko veća od Londona, koja se proteže u daljinu. Prikazuju pukotine, kao i izdubljene špilje, urezane u santu leda. Ledenjak A23a potpuno erodira dok nailazi na blažu klimu i više temperature oceana, piše Jutarnji list.

Ekspedicijski tim svjedočio je kako su se komadi sante leda odlomili u more, rekao je glasnogovornik EYOS Expeditions za CNN.

A23a je u pokretu nakon što je gotovo tri desetljeća bio prizemljen na morskom dnu na Antarktici. Golema ledena masa se otkinula od ledene ploče Filchner-Ronne 1986. godine, gotovo odmah se razlomila i spustila na dno Weddellovog mora.

Debljina sante leda je 400 metara i ima površinu od gotovo 4000 četvornih kilometara. To je više od trostruke površine Los Angelesa.

A23a je držao titulu ‘trenutno najvećeg ledenog brijega‘ nekoliko puta od 1980-tih godina, a povremeno ga nadmašuju veći ledenjaci, ali samo nakratko. Na ‘tron‘ je 2017. zasjeo A68 te ledenjak A76 2021. godine.

Velika santa leda će na kraju potpuno nestati.

Iako se ova santa leda vjerojatno odvojila u sklopu prirodnog ciklusa rasta ledenjaka, znanstvenici tvrde da klimatske promjene izazivaju zabrinjavajuće promjene na golemom, izoliranom kontinentu s potencijalno razornim posljedicama za globalni porast razine mora.

U veljači 2023. godine, morski led na Antarktiku dosegao je najnižu razinu od početka bilježenja, na 1,7 milijuna kvadratnih kilometara, piše Jutarnji list.

Najnovije snimke najvećeg ledenog brijega na svijetu zabrinule su znanstvenike. Naime, erozija je isklesala goleme lukove i šupljine u najvećem ledenjaku koji se kreće od Antarktike, prikazuju snimke istraživača na brodu EYOS Expeditions, koji je plovio uzduž ledenjaka A23a.

Fotografije otkrivaju golemu santu leda, koja je više nego dvostruko veća od Londona, koja se proteže u daljinu. Prikazuju pukotine, kao i izdubljene špilje, urezane u santu leda. Ledenjak A23a potpuno erodira dok nailazi na blažu klimu i više temperature oceana, piše Jutarnji list.

Ekspedicijski tim svjedočio je kako su se komadi sante leda odlomili u more, rekao je glasnogovornik EYOS Expeditions za CNN.

A23a je u pokretu nakon što je gotovo tri desetljeća bio prizemljen na morskom dnu na Antarktici. Golema ledena masa se otkinula od ledene ploče Filchner-Ronne 1986. godine, gotovo odmah se razlomila i spustila na dno Weddellovog mora.

Debljina sante leda je 400 metara i ima površinu od gotovo 4000 četvornih kilometara. To je više od trostruke površine Los Angelesa.

A23a je držao titulu ‘trenutno najvećeg ledenog brijega‘ nekoliko puta od 1980-tih godina, a povremeno ga nadmašuju veći ledenjaci, ali samo nakratko. Na ‘tron‘ je 2017. zasjeo A68 te ledenjak A76 2021. godine.

Velika santa leda će na kraju potpuno nestati.

Iako se ova santa leda vjerojatno odvojila u sklopu prirodnog ciklusa rasta ledenjaka, znanstvenici tvrde da klimatske promjene izazivaju zabrinjavajuće promjene na golemom, izoliranom kontinentu s potencijalno razornim posljedicama za globalni porast razine mora.

U veljači 2023. godine, morski led na Antarktiku dosegao je najnižu razinu od početka bilježenja, na 1,7 milijuna kvadratnih kilometara, piše Jutarnji list.
