Saudijska rudarska tvrtka Ma‘aden izvijestila je da radi na vađenju litija iz morske vode kako bi dugoročno osigurala ključnu sirovinu za buduću saudijsku industriju električnih automobila.
"Radimo na inicijativi za izdvajanje litija iz morske vode, kao i na nekim drugim projektima; ništa veliko, rekao bih, trenutno smo još u pilot fazi", rekao je za Reuters izvršni direktor Ma‘adena Robert Wilt.
Litij je ključni mineral koji se koristi u baterijama za električne automobile, prijenosnim računalima i mobitelima.
Ma‘aden je u 67-postotnom vlasništvu saudijskog državnog stabilizacijskog fonda s kojim je nedavno osnovao tvrtku Manara Minerals za ulaganje u rudarsku imovinu u inozemstvu.
"Smanjili smo rizik našeg portfelja širenjem istraživanja i radom izvan (saudijskog) kraljevstva kako bismo bili sigurni da ćemo biti otporni na geopolitičke događaje", rekao je Wilt.
Ma‘aden se po njegovim riječima pokušava držati podalje od sukoba i "činiti ono što je najbolje za saudijsko kraljevstvo".
Saudijska Arabija razvija automobilsku industriju koja treba materijale za baterije za električna vozila, naglašava Wilt, dodajući ipak da ih Ma‘aden "vjerojatno" osigurati za tvornice u izgradnji pa će ih morati nabaviti u inozemstvu.
Naglašava i da je prioritet za Saudijsku Arabiju kupnja čelika i željezne rude od inozemnih dobavljača, zbog ubrzanog tempa provedbe ambicioznih mega projekata. "Pogledajte kroz prozor, vidite dizalice, giga projekte, apetit za čelkom ogroman je", rekao je Wilt.
Ma‘aden također planira gotovo udvostručiti proizvodnju fosfata i zlata u svojim rudnicima, dodao je.
"U završnoj smo fazi puštanja u rad najvećeg rudnika zlata u saudijskom kraljevstvu Mansourah-Massaraha, koji će gotovo udvostručiti našu proizvodnju", navodi.
Rudnik bi trebao proizvoditi 250.000 unci zlata godišnje.
Ma‘aden se našao u teškoćama zbog pada globalnih cijena metala, pa mu je dobit u drugom tromjesečju potonula više od 90 posto.
No, cijene se sada oporavljaju, naglašava izvršni direktor saudijske tvrtke, i "čini se da su se (...) stabilizirale na višoj razini od one na početku ciklusa", dodao je.

Saudijska rudarska tvrtka Ma‘aden izvijestila je da radi na vađenju litija iz morske vode kako bi dugoročno osigurala ključnu sirovinu za buduću saudijsku industriju električnih automobila.
"Radimo na inicijativi za izdvajanje litija iz morske vode, kao i na nekim drugim projektima; ništa veliko, rekao bih, trenutno smo još u pilot fazi", rekao je za Reuters izvršni direktor Ma‘adena Robert Wilt.
Litij je ključni mineral koji se koristi u baterijama za električne automobile, prijenosnim računalima i mobitelima.
Ma‘aden je u 67-postotnom vlasništvu saudijskog državnog stabilizacijskog fonda s kojim je nedavno osnovao tvrtku Manara Minerals za ulaganje u rudarsku imovinu u inozemstvu.
"Smanjili smo rizik našeg portfelja širenjem istraživanja i radom izvan (saudijskog) kraljevstva kako bismo bili sigurni da ćemo biti otporni na geopolitičke događaje", rekao je Wilt.
Ma‘aden se po njegovim riječima pokušava držati podalje od sukoba i "činiti ono što je najbolje za saudijsko kraljevstvo".
Saudijska Arabija razvija automobilsku industriju koja treba materijale za baterije za električna vozila, naglašava Wilt, dodajući ipak da ih Ma‘aden "vjerojatno" osigurati za tvornice u izgradnji pa će ih morati nabaviti u inozemstvu.
Naglašava i da je prioritet za Saudijsku Arabiju kupnja čelika i željezne rude od inozemnih dobavljača, zbog ubrzanog tempa provedbe ambicioznih mega projekata. "Pogledajte kroz prozor, vidite dizalice, giga projekte, apetit za čelkom ogroman je", rekao je Wilt.
Ma‘aden također planira gotovo udvostručiti proizvodnju fosfata i zlata u svojim rudnicima, dodao je.
"U završnoj smo fazi puštanja u rad najvećeg rudnika zlata u saudijskom kraljevstvu Mansourah-Massaraha, koji će gotovo udvostručiti našu proizvodnju", navodi.
Rudnik bi trebao proizvoditi 250.000 unci zlata godišnje.
