Neočekivano velik broj rakova pojavio se u Zaljevu svinja u Kubi nakon što su, zahvaljujući pandemiji, dvije godine mogli normalno prelaziti ceste i razmnožavati se u miru.

Nakon što su na otoku počeli proljetni pljuskovi, milijuni kopnenih rakova crne, crvene i žute boje u sumrak i u zoru izlazi iz šume i korača do zaljeva na južnoj obali Kube kako bi se u moru mogli mrijestiti.

Gotovo svake godine, nebrojeni rakovi pogibaju pod kotačima vozača. No posljednje dvije pandemijske godine rakovi su se mogli slobodnije kretati, zbog čega im je broj narastao, tvrdi lokalno stanovništvo.

“Prometa je bilo malo, kao i turizma”, kazao je 46-godišnji Angel Iraola, čuvar parkirališta pokraj dugačke zavojite ceste preplavljene rakovima koja vodi do zaljeva. “Dugo nisam vidio ovoliko puno rakova”.

Znanstvenici tek trebaju potvrditi izvješća o oporavku populacije uzrokovanom pandemijom, no Reinaldo Santana Aguilar, znanstvenik iz kubanskog ministarstva ekologije, kazao je da ovogodišnja navala rakova govori sama za sebe.

“Primijetili smo da migrira veći broj rakova nego što je uobičajeno”, kazao je Aguilar za Reuters. “Migracije su vrlo vjerojatno jače jer se populacija rakova obnovila.”

Turisti koji odsjedaju na Kubi mogu uživati u prizoru jedne od najvećih i najspektakularnijih prirodnih migracija životinja.

Pri zalasku sunca, šareni rakovi izlaze da bi se razmnožavali, pri čemu zakrčuju puteve koji vode do tirkiznog mora, penju se uz zidove kuća i prekrivaju grubo popločanu obalnu cestu.

“Mnogo sam putovala, no ovako nešto nisam vidjela nigdje osim u Kubi”, kazala je 36-godišnja posjetiteljica iz Italije Dajana Zanona. “Boje su im tako žarke.”

Rakovi su, pak, suočeni s ružnom stvarnošću zbog povratka turista i prometa nakon pandemije.

Iako se neki vozači trude zaobići ove desetonožne rakove, često se čuje krckanje žarkocrvenih oklopa pod kotačima. 

U zraku se osjeti smrad smrskanih rakova, a njihovi oštri oklopi mogu čak i probušiti gume.

Giordanisa Durana (43) iznenadio je broj rakova ove godine, ali se brzo pribrao.

S metlom domaće izrade tjerao je rakove s ceste ispred svoga auta, kojim se s obitelji vozio na rođendansku proslavu na obližnjem odmaralištu kraj mora.

“Koristimo metlu kako bismo maknuli rakove, ne želimo ih pregaziti. To su ipak živa bića”, kazao je Duran, i dodao da se na taj način štiti od probušenih guma.

Zaljev svinja u Kubi 1961. bio je mjesto gdje su kubanske izbjeglice u SAD neuspješno pokušali svrgnuti Castrovu revoluciju, a nalazi se unutar nacionalnog parka koji je dom 80 posto autohtonih ptica Kube, krokodilima i mnogim drugim divljim životinjama.

Neočekivano velik broj rakova pojavio se u Zaljevu svinja u Kubi nakon što su, zahvaljujući pandemiji, dvije godine mogli normalno prelaziti ceste i razmnožavati se u miru.

Nakon što su na otoku počeli proljetni pljuskovi, milijuni kopnenih rakova crne, crvene i žute boje u sumrak i u zoru izlazi iz šume i korača do zaljeva na južnoj obali Kube kako bi se u moru mogli mrijestiti.

Gotovo svake godine, nebrojeni rakovi pogibaju pod kotačima vozača. No posljednje dvije pandemijske godine rakovi su se mogli slobodnije kretati, zbog čega im je broj narastao, tvrdi lokalno stanovništvo.

“Prometa je bilo malo, kao i turizma”, kazao je 46-godišnji Angel Iraola, čuvar parkirališta pokraj dugačke zavojite ceste preplavljene rakovima koja vodi do zaljeva. “Dugo nisam vidio ovoliko puno rakova”.

Znanstvenici tek trebaju potvrditi izvješća o oporavku populacije uzrokovanom pandemijom, no Reinaldo Santana Aguilar, znanstvenik iz kubanskog ministarstva ekologije, kazao je da ovogodišnja navala rakova govori sama za sebe.

“Primijetili smo da migrira veći broj rakova nego što je uobičajeno”, kazao je Aguilar za Reuters. “Migracije su vrlo vjerojatno jače jer se populacija rakova obnovila.”

Turisti koji odsjedaju na Kubi mogu uživati u prizoru jedne od najvećih i najspektakularnijih prirodnih migracija životinja.

Pri zalasku sunca, šareni rakovi izlaze da bi se razmnožavali, pri čemu zakrčuju puteve koji vode do tirkiznog mora, penju se uz zidove kuća i prekrivaju grubo popločanu obalnu cestu.

“Mnogo sam putovala, no ovako nešto nisam vidjela nigdje osim u Kubi”, kazala je 36-godišnja posjetiteljica iz Italije Dajana Zanona. “Boje su im tako žarke.”

Rakovi su, pak, suočeni s ružnom stvarnošću zbog povratka turista i prometa nakon pandemije.

Iako se neki vozači trude zaobići ove desetonožne rakove, često se čuje krckanje žarkocrvenih oklopa pod kotačima. 

U zraku se osjeti smrad smrskanih rakova, a njihovi oštri oklopi mogu čak i probušiti gume.

Giordanisa Durana (43) iznenadio je broj rakova ove godine, ali se brzo pribrao.

S metlom domaće izrade tjerao je rakove s ceste ispred svoga auta, kojim se s obitelji vozio na rođendansku proslavu na obližnjem odmaralištu kraj mora.

“Koristimo metlu kako bismo maknuli rakove, ne želimo ih pregaziti. To su ipak živa bića”, kazao je Duran, i dodao da se na taj način štiti od probušenih guma.

Zaljev svinja u Kubi 1961. bio je mjesto gdje su kubanske izbjeglice u SAD neuspješno pokušali svrgnuti Castrovu revoluciju, a nalazi se unutar nacionalnog parka koji je dom 80 posto autohtonih ptica Kube, krokodilima i mnogim drugim divljim životinjama.
